Classic Folklore tales of the Caribbean in the age of Colonization. Howard Pyle was one of my favorite childhood authors with his King Arthur books and this is an amazing mix of history and folktales. Fascinating stuff.
This is not a child's book though-the prose is very lengthy and complex realism of 18th and 19th century and quite detailed of violence with stories by Pyle and Daniel Defoe.
