WIthout an angry edge, Mr. Hoffman tells the story of his transracial adoption with openness and honesty. His story is real and while he doesn't leave out the bad parts, readers certainly conclude the book with no uncertainty about his love for his family. An important look at transracial adoption, race in America and what it means to be adopted. A must read for anyone involved in the issue and for everyone who cares about children in America and beyond.

A very insightful book written about the experiences of a black man raised by white parents. Very enjoyable and interesting.

Kevin Hoffmann shares his experience growing bi-racial in a white household. He shares his child and young adulthood with candor. His story is one I would recommend to any trans- racial adoptive parent read. As one other reviewer commented- know that it's similar to reading a personal journal.
The book does contain typos but I based my rating on what he was trying to communicate not the editing.

I really appreciated Kevin's candid account of growing up black in a white family. It gave me a great understanding of what transracially adopted kids may experience.

Those who read it should know that it is not written perfectly and there are several typos. It is sort of like reading someone's personal journal.
