Tempting the Enemy is my first taste of Dee Tenorio’s ability to spin an incredible tale in the paranormal suspense genre. Book one in the series entitled Resurrection, Dee introduces us into a world of shape shifters and a fascinating breed known as Sibiles who have different kinds of abilities together with a history of bad blood between themselves and the wolf shifters.

Pale Reysen is an Alpha who has sworn to create a safe haven for wolf shifters whose vast numbers have rapidly declined since

Having just finished TtE I must say I'm extremely pleased with this novel. I've read a few of Tenorio's other romantic novels and was a little concerned her first (from what I can see by browsing her website) attempt at romantic suspense would fall flat. Happy day, it didn't. TtE starts with, not quite a bang but close, and doesn't let up. We're quickly dropped into a world where there are three distinct races (Human, Shifter and Sibile) and for once in recent reading history-the shifters are on ...more

There is a serial killer stalking young women and Detective Pale Rysen is assigned to the case. The trail is cold and there are no leads so Jade, who is a Sibile, is brought in to help. The Sibile are a matriarchal order of very powerful and gifted women. This case is personal for Rysen since he is an Alpha werewolf and some of the women who have been killed are shifters. He’s not at all thrilled to have a Sibile on the case and the fact that this particular Sibile happens to be half wolf could ...more

I'm constantly amazed by how really familiar elements from a certain kind of story can be reworked and recombined to create something new and unique. Tempting the Enemy is a good example of this, and also an example of how a story can truly be more than the sum of its parts. Taken individually, these elements aren't anything that haven't been done before; working together, they yield a story that, while cumbersome in parts, is definitely intriguing and unique.

At first blush, the hero and heroine

TEMPTING THE ENEMY by Dee Tenorio is a paranormal romance/suspense. It is written with detail and depth. It has romance, suspense, shifters, wolves, mystery, sensuality, and passion. It is fast paced, action packed with great characters that are strong and determined. Jade and Pale are faced with challenges, peril, lust, their strength compliment each other which makes them a perfect match. Jade, half wolf, half Sibile her powers are unstable. She has always felt out of place in the Sibile world ...more

Really pleasantly surprised by this book - it only cost a couple of quid on amazon (kindle edition) and the cover looks a bit selfpublish-ey so I wasn't expecting much.

Very glad I bothered, the author was straight into the sexual-tension-caused-by-irresistable-scents thing which is one of my favourite aspects of the shifter trope. So good start, followed by a good book. Liked the general world it was set in, the author has obviously put some thought into it and I particularly liked the idea of t

Ah man, this was better than i thought. I'm so glad i picked up this book. Dee Tenorio is a good author, i must say! :)

I loved the characters and the story was well written. Getting to see both Jade and Pale's pov was perfect, and i enjoyed the whole book.

Tempting the Enemy delivers exactly what the blurb promises: steamy paranormal romance with a dose of dark, creepy mystery.

Rysen is the requisite hunky-alpha-male, and Jade the expected counterpart – sexually inexperienced, not fully in control of her abilities, and determined not to give in to Rysen’s demands. While neither character made a huge impression on me individually, I did enjoy the two of them together. The interaction was lively, and I loved some of their conversations:

Memorable Scenes:
- Jade trying to get Emmitt out of his shock > this scene had me swallowing back my tears, which I barely managed to do...

Tempting the Enemy is one of those books that I wasn't sure what to expect with this new-to-me author, however, ended up being very pleased with. To me, it's a combination of CSI, paranormal investigations, and M.Knight Shyamalon's 'The Village'. Okay, I may be a stretching a bit, but you'll see what I mean when you read it! I was hooked from the beginning to the end, following the non-stop action and suspense, and getting all warmed up from the amount of heat being throw

This was my first read by Dee Tenorio and I was pleasantly surprised with it. If I have to chose one thing that I like about this book, it would be Pale.

Pale is a true alpha male. I loved the fact that he acted the part, but didn't broadcast it to everyone and expect them to bow down to him. And while you could tell that his temper was always thin as wind, he always managed to keep himself in check. He especially kept himself together when dealing with his Jade.

Jade was a likeable character. She

In this alternate reality, the government hunts, tags, and dissects Shifters. In addition to the shifter community there are also powerful beings/psychics who use their powers to keep wary humans at bay so that they can’t do the same to them as they do to shifters. Detective Pale Rysen, an alpha shifter in hiding is working incognito in the police department. He’s been made lead on the case of the Woodsman, a vicious killer who has been stalking women and disposing them in a heinous manner. Jade ...more

Tempting the Enemy by Dee Tenorio
* I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

Tempting the enemy by Dee Tenorio was a smart, sexy book. Even with the intrigue of the Woodsman killings, the scenes between Pale and Jade were HOT!

The police department called in a Sibile to help them solve the Woodsman killings. Pale is not comfortable with this decision but has resigned himself to work with her, until he realizes that she is also an unmated wolf in heat. This fac

I was strongly reminded of the Psy/Changeling series, one of my favourites, by Nalini Singh especially the first book Slave to Sensation, when reading Tempting the Enemy. The Sibile are comparable to the Psy, they believe themselves to be the superior race with incredible psychic abilities and look down on humans and shifters who in this have been hunted by humans almost to extinction.

At the beginning I was worried this was going to be love at first sight, or in this case scent but I was wrong.

My Review:
What a wonderfully creative and inventive world that Dee has created here. This is book #1 in the Resurrection series. Resurrection is a mountain in California that was created as a refuge for shifters. In this world, shifters were subjected to genocide by humans and the packs have been dissolved. Pale, as an alpha, is recreating the pack-life at Resurrection. He also lives as a human working as a homicide detective. Both jobs are int
My review cross-posted from Joyfully Reviewed:

Detective Pale Rysen knows what it’s like to be hunted. That’s why he, the Alpha Wolf, has dedicated his life to protecting and rescuing others. But when a serial killer known as the Woodsman starts targeting young women, Pale fears even he won’t be able to discover the madman’s identity. That doesn’t mean that he wants to work with a hated Sibile, however. Yet Jade-Scarlet isn’t what he expected; for one thin

I really enjoyed this one. I hadn't really expected much from it, especially as it is another story with shifters and matebonds and stuff which I am not keen on. But it was well done and the heroine was a strong and likeable character to counterbalance the Wolfie stuff. I even felt that despite the short time span, the relationship between the H/h was pretty realistic for the situation they both found themselves in and their natures as shifter/half-shifter. Oh and the sex scenes were

Carina Press has a real winner with Tenorio’s Tempting the Enemy. Pale is a homicide detective working on a series killer case that has taken a turn for the worse. The city fears that the problem cannot be solved by their finest, so they bring in a Sibile, a kind of witch, to help bring the murder to justice. As Pale has been working on both the human killings, and the un-reported wolf killings, as the Alpha, he has double the interest in solving the case quickly. When he meets his Sibile Jade, ...more

A very interesting take on a paranormal romance and a story that I found difficult to get into at the start. Maybe it was because I wasn't quite sure what a Sibile was and therefore couldn't see where the storyline was going. The suspense aspect of the story had me enthralled from the start and unusually for me, I wasn't able to predict who the killer was and didn't even come close!

I really loved this one. Dee put the main characters, Pale and Jade, on a journey where they both grew and changed to be who they were meant to be. They battled each other throughout it because they each had it this notion set in their head on what they thought they were and not willingly to explore the possibility that they could be more.

I liked the way they worked on an investigation finding a serial murderer that brought them together. I did not see who the murderer was and until Jade found

Detective Pale Rysin is a werewolf, the leader of his pack. Jade-Scarlett is a member of the powerful order of the Sibile (women with strange magical powers), but she is also half-wolf. When she is sent to help Detective Rysin investigate the murders of several young women, sparks more than one way.

There is an instant attraction between the two, but their worlds have been taught to hate each other for years. Will they be able to overcome their prejudices and work together to solve the m

i won this book in a contest and i was asked to give a review if i felt like i wanted to. i truly enjoyed the book the hero and heroine were both intriguing and complex and pulled me right into the story.
i also enjoyed the fact that even with Pale being an alpha he could not intimidate Jade and she gave as good as she got.
the plot was also very good as it was not one of those that you had figured out 5 minutes into the book but it kept me guessing right up to the last pages.

I've been in a bit of a reading funk so it took me a few days to get through this. I really enjoyed it though!

When hunting a serial killer Detective Pale Rysen calls in outside help from the Order of the Sibile, when Jade arrives she is not what he expected! Jade is an anomaly which should not exist - half wolf, half sibile her wolf half calls to the Alpha in Pale. When she goes into heat can he protect her from challenging males while staying on the track of a killer and fight his own growing

3.5 stars for me. I would have preferred a little more world-building/explanation. I found the wolf-mating details to be pretty interesting and I do feel like this series delves into the pack and mate bond in a way that feels different that everything I've read before. I have to say, I felt like the Jade-being-in-heat part was a bit much to take after awhile. I was completely drawn in to the characters in this book. It's a world of shifters that doesn't rely on them being shifters to carry the story. The story follows a detective trying to solve a serial murder case. His best chance at solving it is accepting the help of a Sibile - a race of magical beings that he has long despised. The suspense was riveting and the relationship building was perfect. I really hope Dee Tenorio writes at least a sequel!

I stumbled across the name Dee Tenorio in a review I was reading. A review that referenced to one of my favourite authors as well. I had to check this author out. I am so glad that I did. I really enjoyed the chemistry between the main characters and the premise for the story and world. I can't wait to read the rest of the series. Bravo Ms Tenorio!
Can't believe I missed this series. Thanks to certain people on twitter talking about Bear Shifters (barely mentioned) but apparently they come up later in this world I decided to give it a try. Very complex world with different supernatural beings. Some very isolated cult-like organizations and of course the mistrusting kill everyone who is different humans. I have to get the next one.
Eva (TXBookjunkie)
Nicely written PNR. Loved how the alpha hero (despite his dislike of the heroine's association with the Sibile and the Heat affecting the two of them) had the patience and decency to give the heroine time to come to terms with the Heat and made an effort to teach her to accept herself as a whole. Hope the author plans to write more about this world.
