Fidel abstragerii din cotidian a eroilor prozei sale fantastice, Mircea Eliade ofera cu romanul Domnisoara Christina (1936) o varianta mo-derna a povestilor cu strigoi, omniprezente in folclorul romInesc.
Numai ca in "povestea" sa accentul cade nu atit pe groaza celor vii in fata mortilor in viata, ca in romanul gotic, cit pe misterul intrepatrunderii dintre lumea de aici...more

Again Eliade makes a wonderful work full of suspense and drama. It's been a long time since I last read somethin this captivating. However I am not giving the book a full five-star grade because as always Eliade has an incomplete ending - I would have liked to know what happened to Mrs Moscu and the professor.

I am afraid of horror stories, but I had to go through this one, I just couldn't let it off my hands.

One of the Great Books of Mircea Eliade that combines mistery with love and symbolism.

I think this is the only book written by Eliade that was difficult to finish reading.

Marvelous book.
Isn't quite written in the style of Eliade, but I enjoyed it. A lot. :D

Acelasi mister si fantastic tipic pentru Eliade. Minunat

This book is probably my favourite one from the books written by Eliade. He explores the Romanian folklore and creates a story filled with mystery, fascination and horror. Indeed, a masterpiece.
Sera
A well-written, dramatic ghost story referring the fall of the burgeoisie.

“...şi văzui un zbârc roş,
Voia sângele să i-l beie,
Zilele să i le ieie,
Nici sângele n-ai să i-l bei,
Că eu cu acul oi descânta
Cu mătura oi mătura,
În trestie l-oi băga,
Şi-n Dunăre l-oi arunca
Şi Sanda de-acum o rămânea
Curată!...”
