The protagonist is an irresponsible woman who falls in love with a hot and rich guy and introduces him to her crazy life. Most of the moments don’t feel real but still totally totally enjoyable. An insane comedy and fun novel about love, sex, friendship, betrayal, family and almost all usually experienced stuff in a very unusual way.

A perfectly enjoyable read its just that Evie's stupidity with money really annoyed me. I dont think I will be reading the others because these characters just dont ring true to me.

I’m a bit of a sucker for new Chick Lit authors and I think it’s always amazing when I discover the debut authors for each new year that comes. Molly Hopkins is one such an author, and I was instantly intrigued when I saw It Happened In Paris on Amazon. It sounded brilliant and I was even more excited to read it when I saw the jaw-droppingly good book cover. So you can probably imagine my delight when my mailman brought me a copy of the novel. I rued the fact I was already reading a book and tha ...more

Toto vážne napísala sprievodkyňa?! Väčšiu dehonestáciu vlastného povolania som ešte v živote nezažila!
Keď som si knihu brala do rúk, myslela som, že to bude "Bridget Jones" v úlohe sprievodkyne - proste niečo milé, ľahké, trochu romantické, vtipné, no zároveň možno aj trochu poučné... Namiesto toho som dostala Evie - primitívnu a egocentrickú alkoholičku, ktorá si o sebe myslí, že zožrala všetku múdrosť sveta a ako ju nikto nechápe a všetci jej len závidia a ubližujú!! Znenávidela som ju asi už

First of all, I must say that I'm a bit apprehensive when it comes to chick flick. I knew I wouldn't like this much based from the title and cover but it was on sale so I decided to give it a chance. Plus, I have quite a thing with the Eiffel Tower.. *laughs*

Back to the book, the main character. Evie, Evie, Evie. Her name reminds me of a Pokemon. Nothing wrong there. Some may find her hilarious but I am annoyed by her from the very first chapter. She's irresponsible, air-headed, silly and childi

I read this book because I am going to Paris next week, I really enjoyed it and it was nice to read about Paris before I go there. Evie is starting a new career as a European travel guide and she lands a job in Paris. The first part of the book is all about her trips to Paris and her ever growing relationship with Rob. Some of the ideas are a bit crazy and you do think to yourself that wouldn't happen, but all in all I found it a pleasure to read and it really did make me laugh. I won't tell you ...more

I really really really tried to like this book but it took all my effort to finish it that unfortunately liking it was a step too far. This book had sooo much promise. I looked on here for the rating and when I saw one and two stars I thought personal preference and all that and I thought perhaps they were wrong and perhaps I need to just give it a go. Sadly people were not wrong. To me this book is poorly written as the plot seemed a little all over the place kept going off in tangents. Just wh ...more

Didn't even finish reading it. Was giving it a chance but after a few chapters I just put it down.

A amiga

Last year, I was in Sainsburys and they had a special where you could buy two books for £7, or something like that. I think the book I really wanted was Between Shades of Grey so I picked this one to go with it.

Honestly, I only picked it because of the title. I thought "Paris!" and my mind shut off. I wouldn't have picked this book for the *cough* lovely cover ... I might've also been swayed by the fact that I had recently read Anna and the French Kiss. Maybe I was hoping for something even sli

I happened to see some favourable reviews for this book which is Molly Hopkins debut so took a chance and ordered it on my Kindle. I had zero expectations, with all new debut novels and surprisingly found myself laughing out loud within the first chapter.

The one thing I want to point out is that Chick Lit is meant to be whatever the author chooses. It doesn’t have to be meaningful, or in particular close to real life. My own opinion means that I read this type of book to sometimes get away from

This is the debut novel for Molly Hopkins and if this book is anything to go by, we will be reading a lot by this lady over the coming years!

The book focuses on the life of the main character, Evie Dexter. Flat sharing with her friend with little direction in her life she stumbles across a job thanks to a very hung over interviewer at Insignia Tours. Evie is going to be a Tour guide in Paris with only a copy of Vogue as reference material!

From the very start of her new job, life is full of obsta

I was really excited about this booked because Travel Chick Lit is my new obsession since I live in Europe now. But the whole time I was reading this book, I couldn't help but think..."are there really idiot brainheads out there who talk and think like Evie and her roommate?" It felt like reliving Confessions of a Shopaholic at times. It was very frustrating that within the first half of the book everything is perfect from a new awesome tour guide job to meeting Rob and having this fantastic rel ...more

So, I just loved this book. The first book since... long time that I have laughed out loud. Often:))) Such ridiculous ideas, so funny... The bits about working in the pub and the time Evie and Rob were visiting Paris together were just hilarious. There were moments I didn't like Evie, but it was just for a moment and she rehabilitated herself very fast (I guess she was joking, this about the rich boyfriend) and Rob was playing on my nerves sometimes as well, especially when he was such a control ...more

When i first started this book, i was a bit unsure as to whether i'd enjoy it or not as i can be a bit fussy when it comes to books like this. I'm so glad that i did give it a chance though. Evie has lost her job and so decides on a whim that she wants to be a travel guide. When she gets a job that's when the story starts. I loved all the characters, especially her sister and the twins. I work with children and could just imagine some of the things happening. One point Evie starts a gam

This was a great book to read. Evie gets a job as a tour guide taking weekend trips to Paris. One slight problem she has never been a tour guide! The book moves a long at a fast pace and really made me chuckle. Some might argue that parts of the adventure are far fetched but as the writer was a tour guide I like to believe its what she didn't write rather than what she did write. The book is written in a very chatty style- like having a good gossip with a friend. I can't wait to read the follow

Really enjoyed this book and for fans of Sophie Kinsella, this is a definite read. The time frame of the book was interesting as at first I thought it would simply span the weekend of the first coach trip, however it covered quite a long time period. I felt this allowed the reader to understand the characters in more depth. This chick-flick novel provided some really funny scenes, will be reading more of Molly Hopkins novels!

I initially thought I was not going to like this book, the beginning started off a little silly and far fetched especially when Evie forgets her bag/passport on her first trip as a tour guide... however I am so glad I persevered because I ended up loving the story, it is great holiday reading and it had me chuckling out in public.
Can't wait for the sequel!

I really enjoyed this book and found it funny and an overall fun chick-lit to read. I liked reading Evies adventures and found certain characters really funny (such as the twins). But I could'nt warm to Robs character, as I didnt like the way he would treated/spoke to Evie at times. I'm looking to reading the sequel though and hope its as fun as this book.

Was not sure what to make of the book when I first started, but once I got into the book I actually really started to enjoy it. The book contained the opening chapter of the follow on book, and I would now be tempted to look for the follow on book and see how things progress for Evie and Rob.

so-so book - quite entertaining if a little implausible. No way could you visit Eiffel Tower, Musee D'orsay and Montmartre in one afternoon. I particularly disliked the constant drinking and its effects

Honestly, this was pretty bad. The two main characters are kind of idiotic. Especially Evie. She just takes back her boyfriend after he cheats mainly because he has a nice body.. shook my head pretty hard at her behaviour all the way through. Not great.

If I had to read the word "kaleidoscope" one more time, I'd have to punch someone. Probably petty, but the repetition of adjectives and verbs really got on my nerves for the first since I've learned how to read. Honestly, I really found this book to be very poorly written.
