Here are the ratings by book for this trilogy.
Book 1: 4 stars.
Book 2: 3 stars. I would have liked to have a different situation for Tillie and Grace than both battling for freedom against cruel "masters." Too much of the same thing in both of the story lines.
Book 3: 2.5 or 3 stars. There were just parts of this, such as about Grace toward the end of book 3, that were not credible to me. There were tiny bits of things in all of the books that sparked my incredulity but the stuff with Grace took

Historical fiction is my favorite Christian fiction genre I believe. It is how I got started reading Christian fiction, one problem with it, is that some how I seem to have started with the best and often have a hard time finding anything that really meets the par. Things are great and enjoyable, but not quite as exciting as those first Liz Curtis Higgs or Tracie Peterson and even Francine Rivers' Redeeming Love. Well, boy is that not the case with Mary Connealy! Welcome to my fav

Good trilogy of books.

These are a mixture of humor and sadness in all three books. They all decided very quickly to get married, all in unexpected ways. In the first one, Sophie married a widower with a set of twins and a set of triplets who were all so rowdy and loud they nearly made Sophie's ears bleed. She was their school teacher and had to talk to their father and the next thing she knew she was married to him due to a mistake made by the townspeople and the Parson. The next two books in th

The books in this series just kept getting better! The first started out with a stubborn widow Sophie not wanting to let a man into her life to help her with her girls let alone one that looks like her dead husband!
The next book about the school teacher grace trying to balance her current life with her past and learning how to be herself!
The last about Hannah trying to reach her sister without a penny to her name then taking it upon herself to protect inocent orphans from a man shed convinced w

A hilarious read. 3 books in 1.

Orphans, widows, danger in the Wild West of Texas
Learning to get along with the opposite sex - whether from the male or female point of view. Learning to get to know people before jumping to conclusions about what their motives are or what they are supposed to do.

Read these book super fast becauseI just had to know what was going to happen!!!!! Loved the characters, very relatable, in depth and they became good friends. Hope to meet the characters in more of Mary's books.
Highly recommended. Exciting, funny, romantic, historical fiction interlaced with profound beliefs about Christianity. This is actually three books put together in one volume. Very enjoyable, easy reading.

Basically feel-good Christian romance. It was fun to see how each of the stories showed an unlikely match, but some characters seemed overly stereo-typed, and some of the events were a bit staged. Still good, clean fun when you need something light to read!

I like it. A nice christian love story with people who have overcome a troubled childhood. A little predictable and slow in places.

Can't put it down!

Loved it, couldn't stop reading it. Such a good plot, not the same junk other romance books have. Look forward to reading more of her books.

I wrote my first book when I was about twelve. A romance novel. I shudder to think what a twelve year old could know about romance. I have no idea what happened to the manuscript. I suppose my mother found it, and burned it while screaming in horror, but I’ve always been afraid to ask. Was it a hundred pages? Two? I have no idea, but I seem to remember just writing FOREVER! So I’m guessing two ...more
