The Excalibur stories weren't as strong as Volume #1. The issue set in a bar was turgid and tension-free. About halfway through the collection, it switches to 'star jammers', which was nothing to do with Excalibur and didn't grab my attention either.

An okay chapter; the standouts are really the first few issues, where the team goes to a bar and we get the adventures of Pete and Pete. There's also a nice chapter where Rahne confronts her past, although it feels very out of character, since Rahne is abruptly much more confident, capable, and unfettered by her past than we have ever seen her, in order to stand up to her old demons.

Don't call it an Excalibur collection when four of the ten comics don't contain a single member of Excalibur.

The Excalibur run of issues in this volume is generally up to Ellis' high writing standards, though the issue of X-Man in the middle unfortunately drags a little. There are really some highlights, such as the Future Past story, but with so many 1- or 2-issue sets, nothing really blows the roof off the book [7/10]. The Starjammers story is likewise good, though I don't find the characters as carefully detailed as the Excalibur crew [7/10].

Kitty starts going out with Pete Wisdom. Colossus turns up, and there's a Days of Future Past episode. Easy reading but nothing that special.
