"Froggy Learns to Swim" is a good book to share with students in the early elementary grades. For young children, I would use this book to teach about perserverance. Froggy didn't think he would be able to learn how to swim, but because he had a great teacher and because he kept trying, he was able to learn how to swim. Perserverance is a great trait to teach young children because there will be things in school (and life) that they will think they can't do, it is our job to teach them they can!...more

After reading this book while babysitting, I realized it had a good lesson in it that kids can take out of it. The book tells about a frog who is stubborn to go swimming and accidentally falls in. Once he is in, his mother teaches him how to swim. The frog and his mother go through several steps until Froggy learns how to swim by himself. The night comes to an end and Froggy's mother tells him to get out but he doesn't want to because he loves swimming now that he can do it. I would recommend th...more

While I could review several Froggy books, I am only going to review a couple because once you read two, you get the general idea. These books are extremely appealing to kids because they are so fun and enjoyable to read aloud. Both of my kids (2 and 4) really enjoy these books.

This one we read several times this summer as we were learning to swim ourselves this year. Both of my kids enjoyed Froggy's experiences as he learned to swim just like them. This is also the appeal of the Froggy books as...more

"Froggy Learns to Swim" is a good book to share with students. Like other Froggy books, you could use this one to show students the use of intentional text and how some words are italicized or in bold in order to draw attention to the reader. One could also use this story as a way to show students that if you try hard enough you can accomplish things you did not think you were able to (like Froggy learning to swim). This would also be a fun story to read before spring break or summer vacation wh...more

Such a fun summer read! When summer comes around and swimming begins some kids might be scared of the jumping in the cool water. This book shows kids that its okay to be scared but sometimes being brave can turn out to be fun. Froggy learns that if he takes the time to listen and learn that swimming can be a lot of fun. I think that kids will enjoy reading about Froggy and seeing if he learns how to swim.

This book is about froggy who doesnt know how to swim. Froggy is afraid to swim. Froggys mom assures him all frogs are great swimmers and then teaches him how to swim. Froggy is still afraid, but once he has his flippers, snorkle, and swim mask, he goes right on in the water and loves it! Froggy swims all night long.

I read this with a student at one of my practicums because he loved frogs. It's an easy reader that is a fairly quick read. Froggy's parents are egging him on to just jump in the water but he continues to make excuses. This book shows that it's ok to try new things and to just jump in!

This was a great book."Froggy Learns to Swim" is a great source to teach early elementary grades students to never quit. Froggy didn't think he would be able to learn how to swim, but because he had a great teacher and he kept trying, he was able to learn how to swim.

Can be used to:
- encourage readers or students struggling with some area that they can learn how to do it
- Good representation of sound words
- Circular text (going back to the mom's first statement about frogs being born to swim)

Frogs are supposed to be good swimmers right? Well not every frog is. This is a neat little book about a frog that can't swim very well. He eventually becomes an expert frog-kicker.
Jasmine
This book was about froggy and how he was scared to swim at first but he ended up doing it anyway. As a teacher I would point out adjectives and the onomatopoeia in the story.
Annette
This is my favorite Froggy book! My kids and I still say "Bubble bubble toot toot, chicken, airplane, soldier" at least once every time we go swimming!
Angie
Silly Froggy.

Running back into the house to get his flippers.

He was BORN with flippers.

Well. Not exactly.
