I think I've only read a couple of Cabot's books before and they were okay books, so I wasn't sure I'd like this one.
This was a good read. Very solid, slightly predictable, plot that has your standard Vampire, Vampire Hunter and the girl who's stuck in the middle, with a variety of characters to chose amongst your favorites. The writing is obviously very skilled but it took a bit to get use to the multiple point of views from different characters. It didn't take away from the experience but More...

Ugh. Meg Cabot, I am disappoint. Cabot is one of my favorite writers, because her books are usually so readable and so much fun, but I think that there was just too much insanity and disconnect to make this work.
This isn't the first time that Cabot writes about the supernatural, but this vampire romp did NOT work for me. The characters were fun, but it just didn't feel like even reasonably real or really even that interesting to me. Meena (yes, like that other famous vampire book ch More...

DNF - The cover for this book caught my attention from the get-go, I absolutely love the cover. Must be the red, my favorite color. Insatiable was my first book to read by Meg Cabot and I couldn't finish it. It wasn't that it was bad but I put down after about 100 pages in and have no desire to pick it back up again. I've tried talking myself into finishing this book but it lacks that spark of excitement that I usually get from reading an Urban Fantasy or Paranormal Romance. The story line was o

my favorite line- "lucien was furious...but even when furious, he was conscientious about litter." who wouldn't laugh at that?
this is the face of guilty pleasure reading. ridiculous plot, vampire/"wulf" overkill, soapy characters, multiple characters falling in love in about 20 minutes. i think the soap opera subplot was brilliant as this whole book read like one gigantic, over-the-top vampire soap opera. thrilled to find out it's a series. i laughed and laughed t More...

Meena Harper is your typical working woman in NYC. She has a great job as a soap writer, a perky dog that adores her, and a live-in brother that's mooching off her. Her life wouldn't be that unusual, except for the fact that she can predict when people are going to die and she just found out her new boyfriend is really a vampire.
Add in a Palantine guardsman that is holding her hostage in order to kill her boyfriend, and her life has suddenly just become that much more complicated. More...

This book was so annoying. First of all – I loved Princess diaries, so I´m not a hater of Mrs. Cabot. (And I also like dogs, for the record)
But Insatiable was just too much for me to bear. Characters were flat, main heroine was a silly girl surrounded by even sillier people.
Main hero – irresistible vampire Lucien is either trying to make a point how harmless and human-loving he is, or he´s demonstrating his powers by threatening hi More...

This may be my favorite Meg Cabot novel to date. And that's saying a lot.
The novel follows Meena Harper, a dialogue writer on a major soap opera called Insatiable. She desperately wants to be promoted to head writer, but loses the promotion. She shares an apartment in a nice old coop building with her unemployed brother. And she can tell you when and how you're going to die.
This last thing is a real problem in her life. She doesn't like to ride the subway, as there a More...

Leave it to Meg Cabot to take something as dark, brooding and oh-so-serious as vampires and turn it into something fun, funny and frivolous! Just when you think you can't take another vampire book, she throws something a little different into the mix. (Although for the record, I am still riding the vampire wave and loving it.)

You know, at first I thought that I was in on the joke. I read some the reviews here and I thought I knew that this book was going to be a parody of 'Twilight' and the likes. I mean Lucien can't read Meena's mind, like Bella and Edward. Alaric "Wulf" is in love with her, i.e Jacob. But not even half way through the book I began to wonder if this was actually a serious attempt at a good story. Then I convinced myself otherwise and thought it was a mockery of Twilight and Bram Strokers D

Meenas Tag fängt nicht gut an: Die sicher geglaubte Beförderung als Head-Authorin bekommt das Biest, deren Arbeit Meena bisher immer übernommen hat. I started out loving this book, but it slowed down in the middle for me and didn't pick up with the same zing. I still ended up liking it for a little over 3stars. The synopsis is fairly accurate so there is no need to rehas it.
The irreverence of having a book read as if it is the soap opera that the main character writes for; the hubris of naming the dog Jack Bauer! Good times! Alas, Poor Alaric I wish we didn't know ye so well, for me this character was so out of sync with the rest More...

I'd like to say that I don't pick books by their covers, but really that is the only excuse I have for actually reading this book. The reason for 2 stars and not 1 is simply because I finished the book, and I hate giving books 1 star (except for Metamorphosis by Kafka that book sucked).
I'm not sure what the author's intent was with this book. It vacillated between tongue and cheek vampire spoofing similar to Katie Macalister and then towards the serious but ridiculous like Christ More...

SO IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK YET BACK AWAY FROM THIS REVIEW
I seriously loved this book! :D Omg! Cabot made the perfect heroine in the story. I absolutely fell in love with Lucien. He was so dark and mysterious and HELLO! he's a freaking PRINCE, not just any kind of prince but the prince of DARKNESS! I also loved that he had to question himself how to act every time he encountered Meena. Its like he didn't know what came over More...

Ehhhhh. I love Meg Cabot's work a LOT. And god knows that if there were any justice in the world, she would be queen of the paranormal romance. But this is not one of her best works. It feels slight. Rushed. Her trademark epistolary style is markedly missing here, and she doesn't quite seem to know what to do without it. (Meg, seriously, you are the modern-day master of epistolary! It is not a gimmick! Own it!) There's also a marked dearth of her usual pop-culture references, and that is one of

Intriguing premise: The writer for a soap opera is told that they're going vampire in order to compete against other shows using the same concept. She hates vampire-mania, and doesn't believe in vampires, but before long she finds herself introduced to the Prince of Darkness himself -- the son of Dracula.
I enjoyed this book and found it to be a surprisingly quick read. Meena, the heroine, also has the ability to know when/how people are going to die, which adds another interesting p More...

So this wasn't actually as bad as I thought it would be, but that might not be the best of recommendations. So as not to damn this book with faint praise (because it really doesn't deserve that), I'll say that this was actually an enjoyable book with its fair share of funny lines and situations.
Meena Harper has my respect for the decision she makes at the end of the book. Lucien is obviously the fellow the readership ought to swoon at, but even though he did have some moments, I kept More...

Never judge a book by its cover.
The lady in the red dress with the dagger and the cool armband with the dragon, she’s intriguing, right? Maybe, I wouldn’t know – she’s not in this book. And please don’t get too excited about the title – it’s the name of the overly hacked soap opera the modern day heroine (really? Is that really the right term for someone who cries this much) works for.

When I heard that Meg Cabot had written a vampire book, I was a little disappointed, to be honest. I feel like there are just too many vampire books out there and I was disappointed that my favorite author had decided to add to it. But, Cabot is still my favorite author, so I still went to get the book. As I stood in the bookstore, reading what the story was about, I fell in love with it. My favorite line is actually the first couple of lines from the front cover flap. “Sick of hearing abou

Meena Harper, writer for the soap opera "Insatiable," isn't exactly pleased when she gets passed over for the job of head writer. To add insult to injury, the executives of the show have decided to jump on the vampire bandwagon. Everyone knows vampires don't exist, and Meena is sick of hearing about them. Not that she doesn't believe in the supernatural--Meena can tell when people are going to die.

Sick of hearing about vampires? So is Meena Harper.
But her bosses are making her write about them anyway, even though Meena doesn't believe in them.
Not that Meena isn't familiar with the supernatural. See, Meena Harper knows how you're going to die. (Not that you're going to believe her. No one ever does.)

Insatiable's true entertainment value lies in its witty deconstruction of the vampire mythos in the context of popular culture. At first, it seems like a parody, making it fun to read for the more discerning audience, but by the end it starts taking itself seriously, heavily tipping over the drama boat and resulting in one of the worst cases of mood whiplash I've had in a long, long time. I think it's unfair that a book that had me laughing for around 300 pages made me depressed after I finished

A cheesy and derivative story that is still fun, because at least it's self-consciously cheesy and derivative. Cabot has fun lampooning the paranormal craze while contributing to it herself -- Twilight in particular comes in for serious mockery, while never being mentioned by name; there are also references to True Blood (again, not by name) and Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse series, and probably others that I didn't catch because I'm not particularly well-read in the genre. And of cours

Insatiable, (my first read by Author Meg Cabot) is a well written contemporary Vampire story. I found Meg Cabot's vision of vampires and their history, very interesting and exciting. I was also very pleasantly caught by surprise by some of her details. (My favorite being mirrors) While Insatiable is a serious Vampire story, humor is written in at just the right moments helping to keep the story on the lighter side. I've generally known Meg Cabot as a YA adult, in particular for her popular Princess Diaries series. I've also never been a fan of her work, but was curious when I saw that she was jumping onto the popular vampire romance bandwagon, though for adults instead of teens. I'm not really into the vamp literature that's eating up the bestsellers' list right now, but I decided to give Insatiable a try, primarily because it's being lauded as a parody of vampire romance.
