I loved Lydia Monks' "Aaaarrgghh, Spider!" and this one is just as sweet! When a mouse invades the family's house, it's Minnie who finds a way to save the mouse family and please her own at the same time! I really enjoyed this one, and I can imagine it being fun to read aloud.

This is a great book for point of view and perspective in the classroom. As you read, you get the different perspectives of all of the family members, including the cat, and you get the perspective of the mouse. It would be great for a compare and contrast or for students to follow through on the various story threads. Definitely one that you could use for a variety of reasons in the classroom. A great mentor text for writing.
When they discover a mouse in the house, each family member makes their own plan for what to do. Dad builds a "cunning trap." Minnie devises a way to free the mouse from Dad's trap. The cat plots to eat the mouse.

Bargain bin book about a little girl trying to save mice from her father's elaborate mouse trap. She puts the rescued mice in little house where her cat tries "cunning plans" to eat them.

Okay, cute that the little girl rescues the mice, but really, have you ever had a mouse infestation in your house and would you want them living and breeding and spreading their little mouse droppings all over your house?

My 4-year-old liked this book. He thought it was funny when a family was eating and the mother saw a mouse. He also liked when the cat thought of having a mouse sandwich.
