Ah, Sidney, Sidney... I always come back to you when I need a bit of a palate cleanser between loftier fare. You never fail to entertain me. This time, though, you didn't quite electrify me. I don't think this is one of your best works. It's got some absolutely terrific elements (two thumbs up for the kid's near crucifixion; ditto for his water skiing horror), but somehow it just doesn't quite scale the giddy heights of excess that 'The Other Side of Midnight' does so very, very well. But this i

I read all Sidney’s stories, not including the last two books published. After knowing so many great books, I put Sidney Sheldon out of my priority.
But from all the book he (I thought it was a she) wrote, this one and Sand of Times is my favourite.
This book is about Jennifer (see, I still remember her name though I don’t have the book), a young lawyer who entered her career in a positive manner and optimism in her blood. But then many things happen and many people came along the way More...

In Goodreads, a five star rating means that the book was really amazing, but Rage of Angels was not just amazing, it completely blew me away. Every author is so keen on making the leading character, a living legend, that the tragedy is lost. But that is the only emotion that we can relate to best apart from love. Joy is individual, sorrow is universal. Sidney Sheldon has pushed his imagination to the extremes, and finally there is everything in this book that a book needs to be complete.

I'm a fan of Sidney Sheldon's work, and I'm an especially big fan of any of his heroines who are smart and clever. One of my all-time favorite books from my childhood is his book If Tomorrow Comes because the heroine, despite being beset by all kinds of bad breaks from bad guys, overcomes it all through cleverness and quick thinking, without being afraid to use her beauty, her unique skills, and her background to advantage.

I remember watching the miniseries of Rage of Angels starring Jaclyn Smith, Ken Howard, and Armand Assante back in 1983 and loving it. Now, reading this book all these years later, I'm amazed how much of the story I recognized from that miniseries. Happily, it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the novel at all (although I did tend to hear Jennifer Parker's dialogue in Jaclyn Smith's voice). This book is pure entertainment. Sheldon has a keen eye for detail and a gift for building suspense. I

This is the first Sidney Sheldon novel I've read, and I can now understand why he's so popular.
Jennifer Parker is on her first day of her new job working for the District Attorney's office in New York City, when she does something horrible. She takes a package from a man in the courtroom and delivers it to the witness. She thinks the man works for her boss, but she's wrong. And the package contains a dead canary. This is my first Sidney Sheldon book... would you believe it? Kudos to one of the famous storyteller for this awesome work.
But as I want to analyse it, I would like to compare his novel with some other eminent writers:
1.Style: I found style more or less like Dan Brown and Jeffery Archer, the former's way on emphasizing on information and facts with short chapters and interesting plot and the later's ways to play with all types human emotions

So I apparently picked this up as a Kindle freebie in May 2010 -- since it was first published in 1980, I'm guessing it was maybe a 30-year anniversary celebration freebie or something. Not being very familiar with novels written shortly before I was born, I had no idea how old the book was.
On the whole, it's aged very well. It reads a lot like a combination of John Grisham's best legal thrillers with some Mario Puzo's Godfather thrown in. The storyline had several major twists, b More...

Anatomy of a Sidney Sheldon read
Upon getting book from library: I have read so many serious books lately. It'll be fun to read Sheldon again. I loved Hart to Hart. Cannot wait.
Page 20: another virginal brilliant ingenue heroine? Oh well, at least this one is a lawyer
page 31: well, that's actually a plausible setup for her losing her job with the DA's office
page 104: seriously, she did NOT just turn to the jury in the middle of arguing a rule of j More...

My Sidney Sheldon marathon continues; Rage of Angels is #4 in my summer series. I really liked this one. In classic Sheldon style, there is an amazing female heroine that defies all obstacles. Her name is Jennifer Parker, a fledgling attorney, who has just landed a job working for the district attorney of New York. She isn't on the job but one day, when her career is jepordized. She is the victim of a mob set-up in which is unknowingly used to upset a case against a renown ganster, Michael Morre

This was the Free Friday e-book from B&N for any of its e-readers. I remember hearing this name bounced around back when I was a few sizes smaller. This book has a bit of everything. Lawyers, hoodlums, Mafia, a Priest and some good people as well. HA! How do you know when a lawyer is lying? His lips are moving. :)
Anyway... Small town girl hits NY to work for the DA. 24 hours later she makes a mistake that allows a mob boss to walk when the DA had an open and shut case. Not a go More...

I read this book when I was in college. I think I still have it. Smart lawyer lady (Jennifer) gets involved with mob guy (Michael Moretti...I just loved that name) when she enlists his help to find her illigimate son (Fathered by a powerful congressman)who has been kidnapped by a lunatic who blames her for mishandling his case.
In return for Moretti's help, she becomes involved in a relationship with him.........all the while still being in love with her son's Father (the senator).

Another triumph for Sidney Sheldon as he portrays once more, a strong woman character Jennifer parker, once on the verge of brokenness after being disembarred from the law firm (her dream of being lawyer), now enjoying the repute of one of the toughest lawyer in the state.
Jennifer's life is dominated by two men.....the protagonist is romantically torn between a famous politician, Adam Warner, on the way to Senator elections, who had helped her rise again from her law firm trauma and a More...

BORING. The book was not what I expected from so many 4-star ratings given to it.
The lead character in the book is Jennifer Parker, a young lawyer. The author makes you think in the beginning of the book that she has integrity in her personal life and work. Jennifer's mom had left her dad for some young guy and she hates people who cheat to the very core. Then she herself starts having affair with a married man, twice!

My Second Sidney Sheldon Book! Like most of the Sidney Sheldon book, this too has a very strong independent woman as the protagonist. The thing I hate about Sidney Sheldon is that in every book of his most of the men are happily married with a lot of affairs! I liked the book and last part and the kidnapping part were just un-put-down-able. Sidney Sheldon has the talent to grill you on your seat. I learned a lot about courts, lawyers and judges and I'm not sure if I trust them anymore. And yeah,

As soon as I started reading this one, I couldn't put it down.
The story focuses on Jennifer, a young idealist lawyer from a small town who has moved to the big city to put away the bad guys. After a major, albeit innocent, mistake she is completely outcast from her prosecutor's office and struggles to stay in the city and become a top lawyer.
I don't want to spoil too much more then that. I had no idea what I was getting into when I read this one and enjoyed the ride. I will w More...

I read this for the first time when I was very young. I remember being entranced by Jennifer Parker. I chanced upon this book in a second hand bookstore a week or two ago. 24 hours later I had completed about 400 of the 600 pages.
A disappointment.
Flimsy storytelling. Weak vocabulary. High on style but low on substance.
Still frothy and fun. And he does manage to squeeze some pathos out of some very uninspired writing. I read a chunk of this with some vodka las More...

My other favourite book by Sheldon. The heroine was somewhat annoying sometimes but she was nevertheless smart and cunning. She's not afraid to put her beauty and cleverness to good use which help her overcome difficult situations. Although, I might say, Michael Moretti was my favourite character in this book. He's just so intriguing and he's one of those characters that you can't help but fall for. I loved the way Sheldon wrote him because he stayed true to his character. Moretti is a man who i

I'm reading through my long list of Kindle freebies, and this was another one. A friend of mine was crazy about Sidney Sheldon in high school, but I never read any of them for some reason. This was an interesting enough read, but it doesn't make me want to read more by Sheldon.
I liked the main character Jennifer, and I enjoyed seeing her overcome a variety of situations rather than give into them and walk away. I think I just need more happiness in a book to really love it, and poor Je More...

Sidney Sheldon's A Rage of Angels, recently available free from Amazon and elsewhere, was a 1980 bestseller. His career as a writer began as a screenwriter: The Bachelor and the Bobby Soxer in 1947. This crime thriller concerns Jennifer Parker, who falls in love with two men -- one a Mafia crime lord, the other US Senator destined for the White House. For my taste, it was much too much like a TV movie; while full of plots twists, the writing itself lacks grace and charm, with little memorable fo

I find it hard to empathize with self-centered people, especially with those who get so engrossed with what they want that they end up hurting other people just to get it. Unfortunately, this novel has plenty of those people. This perhaps is one reason I can't and wasn't able to finish the novel until the end. I can't finish it 'coz I can't find any attachment to the story. I tried - HARD, I swear - to connect to the story, but to no use. I'm sorry, but I got so bored that I finally decided to d

My first book from Sheldon. I thought the story was fantastic, and couldn't put it down without thinking about what was going to happen. However, the characters left a lot to be desired for me. I couldn't connect with the main character - someone who is supposed to be this strong career lawyer, but seems to get railroaded by men. Maybe that was not the intention, but some thoughts from her would have made this more believable. I did enjoy the story enough that I want to read more Sheldon.
