There are a lot of insights of human life that I can learn from this amazing book...I love the way he wrote all of the stories which were contained of enchanting messages for anyone who read it, especially me. It helps me smile, wrinkle my eye brows whenever I didn't get the point yet of one story, helps me passing my day, even when I got stuck by the traffic jam.
In short, I must say that this book is loveable...and I love it.

More...

I sort of regret reading through this so fast – I wonder if it would be better to read a story a night, to contemplate the simple yet profound messages Coelho preaches in each one. As with his other works, he refers to one’s “Personal Legend” and “Warriors of Light” and discusses the language everyone can understand and the “Soul of the World.” Likewise, from “Self-Deception” and stories about self-doubt and comparing oneself to others, he writes about confidence and peace in the present moment More...

My friend told me to read this book about a year ago but I was never really interested in reading. I never found the right book to read. This summer I read a book for Paulo Coelho and I loved it. So I kept buying his books and reading them. His books are really different. They are all about life and how we choose our path. Some are all about love, destiny, and death. After I read most of his books I decided to start reading this book ''Like the Flowing River''. It made a great impact on the way More...

This is a great book of meditations large and small in the form of stories and true vignettes from the life of the author. I recommend keeping it on your nightstand and reading just one or two stories before you go to bed--you'll sleep well. If you are familiar with Coelho's works, you'll recognize the "warrior of the light" and the reference to "personal legends" (see The Alchemist). The collection is a testament to Coelho's expansive horizon (see The Valkyries: An Encounter with Angels More...

Before i start reading, one of my friends said that I showed finish first the other books of Paulo Coelho.
I've learned a lot. This book contains the stories and compilations of great experiences by the author and other people who entered his life.
The story of the pencil was so interesting and I've been reflecting throughout these days.

The book consists of short stories and tales by Paulo Coelho. The stories are very uplifting (even if all are not happy and joyous) and spiritual and most are things that have happened to him on his journeys, or legends and tales he has heard from people he's met. Some are just thoughts and views that have been born in his mind triggered by everyday life or his surroundings.

As is typical to Coelho's writing style and personal beliefs, God keeps being mentioned but as Coelho's view on More...

I have been searching for this book quite some time ago. When i finally found it with quite a cheap price, i bought it directly. I started to read it about a month ago, or so, and i just finished it today. I'm seriously liking this book, because i think, this book helped me to think more and learn more about life. Short stories can sometimes induce you more than one long one.

Tapi jangan baca buku i More...

I love love love love love this book.
it's so inspirational and uplifting which is exactly what i need in a dim university dorm room.
it brings a bit of sunshine into my day with it's brief short stories that are full of hope and promise for the fleeting present, and fast approaching future.
it's brought the words 'appreciate the present' back to life, and into the forefront of my life, just like it should be.

i especially recommend this book for those who have a busy life More...

Like the flowing River was the book that introduced me to the amazing writing style of Mr. Coelho - this is actually one of his best. From the moment that I started reading this book, I totally love the simplicity of his writing. Too simple yet truly inspiring. I must say that he has collected the best stories in just one book. Well, actually, I'm a big fan of anthologies - the beauty of exploring different characters on different situation in just one book. Great isn't? Now, I'm not just a fan More...

I never thought that a man can really be so profound and inspiring even in his daily life, until I read Paulo Coelho’s Like the Flowing River.

Before I read this book, I have read Coelho’s book “The Alchemist”, and just credited him for a wonderful work of art. But after reading this book, I discovered that Coelho is not only a masterful writer but also a man full of wisdom in real life.

This book is like a mental yoga for me. It balances all the hedonistic books I've read and makes me want to read the essays and reflections again and again. This one mustn't be read haphazardly, one must savor the words and the message. I've said this before and I'll say it again, Paulo Coelho uses simple words (or at least the translations do so), but they have depth.

The essays are mostly religious and spiritual, they are also about life and living, death, dying, and acceptance of d More...

Still reading the book, but so far so good.. I like the story of the pencil.. :)
According to this book, pencil have 5 quality, First: you are capable of great things, but u must never forget that there is a hand guiding your steps. We call that hand God, and He always guides us according to His will.
Second: now and then. I have to stop writing and use a sharpener. That makes the pencil suffer a little, but afterwards, he's much sharper. So you, too, must learn to bear certain pains a More...

It was an absolutely lovely read, many of the stories were truly inspirational or just downright moving, but I had one problem with this book. The way God was used in it. And look, I don't mind God, I really don't, but when Coelho goes all preachy and prayery I start to draw back. I don't like to read about God in such a religious way, and thus skipped a few paragraphs and a couple pages filled with a very 'oh Lordy' prayer.

Otherwise, though, I really enjoyed it. It made me feel ins More...

Paulo Coelho is nice. He is the best person to read when you are traveling, because he is a traveler, too, and he understands.
I'd read his fiction over this book, it can be somewhat preachy, but that's the point and it was fun to read little snippets of his thoughts here and there.
One reason that I really, really like PC is because he sees the necessity of being BOTH passionate and pious, and that's what I've been looking for, and it can be hard to find.

It is an inspirational book containing many of life's values and lessons and is an inventory of thoughts and reflections on the most basic things and happenings of life, yet it teaches you to throw light on these inconspicuous or unnoticed things in a completely breath-taking and different perspective. In a nutshell, it teaches you how to appreciate the small occurrences that sweep you off the ground and course the track of your thinking toward the deep depths.

There's just something about Paulo Coelho that makes me want to go back to him. His writing has THE quality, the it-factor. Its intoxicating sentiment - present in every word and sentence- draws me in like a spider to its web, even though I can't bring myself to agree with the message half of the time. Coelho has, and rightly deserves, my highest respect. Thank you Paulo Coelho, for bringing my inner world back to life, yet again.
