Une petite histoire d'amour remarquable surtout par l'originalité de son personnage masculin. Terri Brisbin a fait le pari de raconter l'histoire de son méchant du premier tome : on est donc loin du héros traditionnel. Celui-ci traîne un lourd passé d'immondes forfaitures et compromissions, qu'il essaie d'expier dans le dénuement et l'humilié. Bourrelé de remords, il ne peut concevoir qu'une seconde chance lui soit offerte.

Une cabane dans les bois, un homme bien bâti au passé secret et une jeune femme blessée qui a perdu la mémoire, voilà un excellent cocktail comme je les aime. Malgré un début un peu longuet, on se prend vite au jeu de savoir qui a bien pu vouloir tuer l’héroïne.
