Just a few spoilers ahead, but you probably don’t want to read this book anyway.

I’m not going to lie, I really hate chick-lit type books. (You know the type, girl meets boy, girl loses boy, girl finds boy, girl and boy live happily ever after. Yeah, I don’t buy that. The plots are the same, every line of dialogue is cliche and come on, that stuff never happens in real life.) But still, this is one of the worst books I have ever read. Let me tell you why.

Really quick before I start complaining: t...more

You know when a book is good when you can't put it down! I finished this book in one day and I must say that it was an excellent read. If you like to get wrapped up in a romance with star-crossed lovers, then this is the book for you. Wendy Markham builds a beautiful story that captivates and moves the reader. Her writing style is truly spectacular and colorful and allows the reader to see the color and majesty of Glenhaven, Clara, and Jed.

If I may be so bold to compare her to the masters in fe...more

I still think of Jed Landry at Christmas. The 1st holiday after II read this I was very depressed about him. Markham developed his character very well. This is the only book I've ever thrown across a room. I was so mad at the end. The way it played out the last chapter didn't sit right. I bought the sequel. It was so-so. It didn't make up for the ending of If Only In My Dreams.

Since I am a hopeless romantic, this book was perfect for me! I was a bit skeptical about the "time-travel" reference in the book jacket, but it wasn't at all what I was thinking. I loved it and hated to get to the end.... except that it WAS a happy ending - which I always like!

The character was negative from the very start (rightly so) that I never got to liking her. I didn't feel that there were any redeeming qualities in her. The story line is also so unrealistic but if you like those cheesy kind of books, then you'll like it.

Because I am a fan of both time travel and the 1940s, I loved this book! I loved the nostalgic feel of it, and yet, the 40s weren't portrayed as perfect. I highly recommend this book.

I've read this book multiple times and it never fails, I cry. It's the sweetest and most romantic story to read around the holidays.
Katherine
Good story. Interesting concept. I thought the ending was interesting. I thought it would end one way and then it became clear towards the end. I liked the twist. I wish the story had lasted longer.
Paige
ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK!!! IT WOULD BE MY PERFECT DREAM IF I COULD HAVE IT IN REAL LIFE.

very sweet love story. the premise is completely crazy (time travel) but it was a really good story nonetheless. I would look for more books by this author.
Jennifer
I LOVED this book!! Such a great story.
Alex
Time travel romance.
Michelle
This would have been five stars but I did not like how she ended it!
Janette
really like it! :)

Not my fave by Wendy Markham, but there is a "prequel" to it. Was a little hard to follow, felt a little disjointed at times.

This is fluff....but it works. It kept me reading just to find out how the author was going to make it work, but she did. There are certainly flaws in the details, but in a book like this it really doesn't matter. This is a good read if you're looking for something light after a run of serious matter.

Not super well written, pretty cliched, but entertaining and fast. Would be a good beach read if it weren't more Christmas focused and if I had any interested in "beach reads"/being on a beach reading. A blend of historical fiction, time travel romance, and pseudo-chicklit.
Debby
Having a daughter home for winter break means I've been reading several chicklits. This was the best of the lot. Although the author is very repetitive, and not surprisingly gets into traps with inconsistencies in time travel, it was an enjoyable, romantic story.

I don't know why I keep picking up her other books - I like her "Slightly" series, but I'm not a romance novel fan.
Meghan
I loved this book. It was very good and I didn't want to put it down. I wish time travel were really possible!
Kristina
It was a cute story. Very cheesy but a fun Christmas read.
