Let me begin by saying that I love love LOVED this book. Delinna is an engaging, resourceful and compelling heroine (of which we could always use more), the plot is gripping, and the action is very nearly non-stop.
I began reading this during my lunch break at work, kept reading till I finished it, and went home and re-read it.
While a comic might not seem appealing, I promise you it is more graphic novel than comic. This story stands alone in its originality. It has unexpected depth and there's...more

Every time I read this wonderful story, it's like catching up with old friends. I've read this particular one so many different times, but it never ever gets old. I love the fact that I can pick up this (or any of the others, for that matter) and step into a whole other world. I also particularly enjoyed the fact that I found that I could relate with each of the characters, although I must say that I was partial to Delinna! Additionally, I love the role Ansh plays in this book because I think th...more
Stanek has been a favorite for a long time, ever since I read his Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches years ago. Anyone who hasn't read his work is missing out on what may be the Tolkien of our generation, and if not Tolkien, the C S Lewis. Betrayal delves deeper into the roots of the powerful Alder family. The reader sees Delinna's fall from grace up close and personally. It's moving and sweeping and much deeper than you might imagine a graphic novel could ever be.
The Ruin Mist books were a very good introduction to the Stanek's world. I wanted more when I finished the books and I could not wait to read Betrayal when it first came out. Everyone should read this and go on the adventure of the brave Delina, it's an incredible story. This story hits home on everything from magic to friendship and even romance. One of the most riveting.
I absolutely loved Stanek's Ruin Mist books, and this was as good as I hoped it'd be. I wish I could go on adventures with Xith and Delinna! It's great that this prequel can be read pre or post the others and holds it's own as a stand alone. The story is exciting, the characters engaging and although originally written as there is no doubt all ages can enjoy.
This book is simply one of the worst comics i have ever read,
the plot was a mismatched pile of crap. This book destroyed my marriage causing me to suffer from night terrors, that I was in this bland world. This is the last time I will review something, as I am going to take a power drill to my throat rather then have to read the second comic.

I enjoyed reading Robert Stanek's Ruin Mist books so much that I finished the last one and was sad. I wanted more, then I found the Daughter of Kings. Not really a comics gal but the stories here have depth and are unlike anything else I've seen. I was wowed. Delinna's story is fascinating, gripping, real.
