Eve of Samhain (Hanaford Park #1)
by
Lisa Sanchez (Goodreads Author)
As a college senior and server at Hanaford Park's hottest nightclub, twenty-one year old Ryann Pierce's plan was simple: work hard, make lots of money, and avoid the ass-grabbers at all costs. What she never planned for was Quinn Donegan—the living, breathing advertisement for sinful behavior that waltzed into her life.

Eve of Samhain combines mythical curses and sexual Celtic legend, giving a new delicious twist to this paranormal element.
This book was really cute and super fun. While it had it's tender and on edge moments, it generally had an intense playful energy to it that I just loved.
Ryann is a fierce, independent and bold. I like the fact that she's not one of those characters who has to wave a damsel in distress flag to catch a mans attention, she a no-taking-crap kind of gal who can hold her own.

2 Stars - barely..
I don't even know what to say..
It was such a 'fairytale' and not in a good way. For very very naive people..
The start was very promising, but after few pages it all went downhill so fast.. and I lost my interest completely. So I was struggling very hard to finish it, just for the pleasure of my masochistic side.
Maybe some people would highly disagree with me... but that's my opinion.
I would NOT read this again... I'm not sure I'll read the rest of the series. Maybe some day......more

I must start by saying that at several times during this book you may need to 'fan oneself'. I would say this isn't for your younger audience. I really enjoyed this book by Lisa and look forward to her next book from Martha's POV. This story is told from Ryann's POV.
Quinn , Oh my goodness...mother of pearl...fans oneself...oh dear lordy..humana..humana... ( deep breath) , is the smexi , cocky, cussing Irish lad. Women mean nothing to him, they are his pleasure, his one night stand, until he meet...more

What can I say about this amazing book? First of all I love the main character, Ryann. She is snarky, independent, hot as hell, and can run like a bat out of hell. The male lead, and romantic interest, Quinn is . . . ::fans self:: verrah verrah delicious.
Ryann is a waitress who also goes to school full time. She has two roommates that cracked me up constantly. The way she played Ryann's two worlds (her friends and her romantic yumminess with Quinn) was done in perfect harmony to the point I for...more

I was trolling through Lisa Sanchez's website as I had heard a lot of talk of this book and of Lisa herself. I stumbled upon the excerpt, read it, loved it and ordered the book right then and there!!
I wasnt disappointed. It was a great change to books I have recently been reading - I was crying out for more smexi and Eve of Samhain certainly delivered!

Eve of Samhain is the debut novel from Lisa Sanchez and WOW!! Right from the first sentence of 'All men are assholes' until the very last word this book had me in the palm of his hand.
I love Ryann, and that is SO rare for me to even like a heroine without wanting to do harsh physical damage to her face. But she is a wonderful character, she's sharp, witty with such sarcastic dialogue. She has a total shoe and bag addictio...more

When Omnific announced their newest title, I knew I had to read it. I snagged it and put it on my to-be-read list. I was excited to finally get around to it in my 'queue'.
Ms. Sanchez does such a wonderful job of getting you hooked on this tale right away. There are twists and turns, plenty of UST and great chemistry between Quinn and Ryann. I started swooning over Quinn and rooting for the pair right from the start.

Why I Read this Book: I loved the premise of this book! When I first read the blurb I thought now this is going to be interesting! This part of the blurb caught my attention:

I definitely wanted to read this book to find out how this situation between the two main characters, who are attracted to each other but cannot touch one another, was going to work out. A good chunk of any relationship is touch: holding hands, hugging, kis...more

Characters:
Ryann: if there is one thing that Ryann is good at, it is playing the helpless damsel in distress. The girl almost never does anything to help herself. She just reacts like, "Oh no, I'm in danger!" and then lo and behold, Quinn comes and saves her. All right, she has some attitude, and stands up to Quinn occasionally, but as the book progresses she gets sappier and sappier about him. And she can really be emotionally immature and overdramatic....more

I loved how she could make a True pompous Arse of a character into one we can believe has a heart and is turning about his ways.
we met Quinn in a bar where is is "dumping" his latest conquest. He asks completely uninterested in her as she is practically shoving herself into him. He is an Irishman who acts arrogant and totally comes onto his server, the heroine, Ryann. She is highly offended and can barely hold back from taking his beer and dumping it all over him. You know what i hate? I HATE it when you loveee the main character in the first chapter of the book, so you buy it, and then you discover that the author was really just putting up a SHAM and the main character is actually about as shallow as they come. AND THEN you get REALLLLY angry because you just wasted money on a book you won't finish.
I just hate that.

When the most stunningly gorgeous man she'd ever seen escorts his clingy date into the nightclub where Ryann Pierce serves drinks and avoids grabby hands while working her way through college, she almost trips over her tongue like some Warner Brothers cartoon character. Then, of course, he speaks. So much for his appeal. He may be gorgeous, but he's also a total tool. Ryann works hard to put herself through school and it seems like she doesn’t have much time for a social life. She is required to wear a “Hooters” type outfit for her waitressing job and gets an earful from drunken patrons from time to time. In walks mysterious Quinn. Ryann’s body responds immediately, but Quinn’s personality left little for Ryann to desire. This relationship starts with the typical “I can’t stand him, but I want him” storyline. Quickly Quinn and Ryann develop a friendship of so...more
Let me just say that I fell in love with Ryann from the first sentence: All men are assholes. Ryann is my kinda girl; she's smart, witty, sarcastic and has a sharp tongue. When Ryann first meets Quinn at the club where she waitresses, their encounter is filled with Quinn's insulting compliments and Ryann's sarcastic retorts. What a great way to start a book. Ryann is the type of character who will give you the middle finger verbally and figuratively. I've made it no secret that I have little pat...more
The story is about a tough, independent girl who falls in love with a man she can't touch. The chemistry between the two ill-fated lovers was electric, and the mythical story surrounding his curse was really interesting.

I started reading it this morning and just finished it. I simply couldn't put it away.

When I started reading Eve Of Samhain, my first thought was that it reminded me of Twilight. Here we have a pretty young girl that catches the eye of a tortured mystical soul. A forbidden love begins, but unlike Twilight, there are no shiny vampires and no muted language (always love that part). No critical scenes left to the imagination, and certainly no whiny heroine that doesn't fight back.

Ryann Pierce’s reaction when she first meets Quinn is two equally fast and all consuming thoughts: 1) What a Jerk! And 2: What a Body! WONDERFUL book, leaves you with a smile on your face...it's refreshing after some rather cliff hanger, not so happy endings to have one that's got an ending that just leaves you happy...elated even.
Though not something I normally read, as an adult novel, it was refreshing, and sweet yet dangerous. It left me breathless, with a sense of desire and fear, all interwoven, in a weirdly tangible way.

Mz Sanchez is really good at yanking you into the story and riling you right up. The characters were strong and likeable with a side of sinful. I love that her insanely good looking Quinn had so many flaws. I loved that Ryann was so incredibly strong. I loved that she turned what could have been a cardboard cut out witch character and made her interesting. There was so much to love about this book. The mystery behind Quinn's powers and curse was well thought out and used to extend the Sexual Ten...more
A pretty good read, paranormal romance with a strong-willed female lead. Quinn is all kinds of bad/sexy/good, and the supporting characters, Jess and Martha, add to the story wonderfully. I would have liked to have seen the villain a little more fleshed out (if you'll forgive the pun). A nice way to spend a Saturday.
