Eve of Samhain combines mythical curses and sexual Celtic legend, giving a new delicious twist to this paranormal element.

This book was really cute and super fun. While it had it's tender and on edge moments, it generally had an intense playful energy to it that I just loved.
Ryann is a fierce, independent and bold. I like the fact that she's not one of those characters who has to wave a damsel in distress flag to catch a mans attention, she a no-taking-crap kind of gal who can hold her own.

2 Stars - barely..

I don't even know what to say..

It was such a 'fairytale' and not in a good way. For very very naive people..

The start was very promising, but after few pages it all went downhill so fast.. and I lost my interest completely. So I was struggling very hard to finish it, just for the pleasure of my masochistic side.

Maybe some people would highly disagree with me... but that's my opinion.

I would NOT read this again... I'm not sure I'll read the rest of the series. Maybe some day......more

I must start by saying that at several times during this book you may need to 'fan oneself'. I would say this isn't for your younger audience. I really enjoyed this book by Lisa and look forward to her next book from Martha's POV. This story is told from Ryann's POV.

When Omnific announced their newest title, I knew I had to read it. I snagged it and put it on my to-be-read list. I was excited to finally get around to it in my 'queue'.

I loved how she could make a True pompous Arse of a character into one we can believe has a heart and is turning about his ways.

when trouble seems to come at her in spades. When a dark force finds her walking out the alley behind the bar and looks right into her with its evil eye and simply utters "Mine" it chills her to the bone and knocks her out before she could barely scream. Quinn is somehow right there to protect her and she can easily sense when he is near. he helps her and from then on protects her every step, literally.

Things only get better as he seems to know more about her then she does him. One day when when they were discussing literature and she ends up reading about Irish Mythology it hits a little too close to home for Quinn. When she called a certain myth a man-whore it sends him reeling and furious. She later finds out there is much more to him then she thought.

As the story progresses and she gets to know Quinn she falls all the more for him, and he does for her. What she comes to find out is that Quinn's existence is almost up as what made him this way was only for a certain period of time. She vows to find a way to save him. When an unlikely encounter with her housemate revels an unlikely source that can help, she elects to ask and finds that help is only a room away.

When her evil force makes itself known by leaving a message in her apartment room, she is very shaken and feels insecure in her own dwelling. When the dark force shows up at her work and claims and takes her away and Quinn can't find her she gets some help from her housemate and he quickly goes to the rescue. But when the evil shifts into bigger forms and Quinn is at risk Ryann wastes no time in trying to protect and save Quinn.

The ending is very sweet and heartfelt. I loved how the pair came together and completely played right off each other. Making them a perfect match.

no no No. NO NO. NO NO NO NO WHYY?!?
You know what i hate? I HATE it when you loveee the main character in the first chapter of the book, so you buy it, and then you discover that the author was really just putting up a SHAM and the main character is actually about as shallow as they come. AND THEN you get REALLLLY angry because you just wasted money on a book you won't finish.
I just hate that.

Her night takes an odd turn when tall, dark, and douchebag breaks up an altercation, then disappears from the club, leaving his vapid date sitting, more dazed and confused than even her intellect would normally allow, with apparently no memory of how she got to the club and no recollection of the sexy, sexist sex god she was with. Which was sorta creepy, really, when Ryann thinks about it.

Then the sex god shows up at her class the next day, a different beauty clinging to him. Same egotistical attitude, though, as he taunts her with his sex appeal even as he introduces himself. Quinn Donegan is her worst nightmare. And he just keeps showing up unannounced. The next time back at the club that night, the same beauty that had clung to him during her earlier class still on his arm. Until as the night before, Quinn leaves the club and one confused, memory wiped coed behind.

As Quinn worms his way into her life for reasons only he knows, a confused and suspicious Ryann stumbles onto some disturbing information that changes her understanding of the world around her. The things that go bump in the night aren't just relegated to fairy tales and camp fires...they stalk the living just as someone or something is stalking Ryann. Is Quinn a part of it, or is he trying to protect her from it...and why would he care either way?

Definitely one of the most unique paranormal romances I've read lately, Eve of Samhain is quirky and oddly charming, despite some issues. Told in Ryann's first person perspective, the narrative is full of earthy wit and crass witticisms, plainly spoken and uncultured. She's a funny if unsophisticated heroine, and her eventual dedication to the incorrigible Quinn is endearing. Quinn is a bit more of a puzzle, with his five hundred plus years as a cursed Faerie, doomed to sex up the female population and drive them mad with it. The idea of Ryann being the only one in all that time to resist his mystical charms, thereby drawing him to her like a moth to flames didn't totally work for me, but as he can't touch her without putting the whammy on her, their relationship is definitely unique in this genre.

The feelings between them develop too quickly for my taste, and are a bit overdone as the book progresses, but some interesting secondary characters and a subplot of an evil stalker after Ryann draws some attention. Not always to the book's benefit, as in the case with the stalker. I was disappointed in that plot thread. It was poorly explained, lacked foundation, and dropped completely for a significant portion of the book before being brought back at just the right time to bollocks up Ryann's attempts to help Quinn with the curse. That was a little too convenient for me.

I also had a hard time figuring out why, beyond the fact that she didn't cave to his mystical charisma, Quinn had such a jones for the relatively common Ryann. She was feisty, but also lacked intelligence at times, and her whining over her size eight body with the oft-mentioned bodacious ta-tas and J-Lo booty got very old very, very quickly. Trust me when I tell you, I wasn't exactly feeling her pain as she bears that particular cross like a discomfited martyr. And her emotions were all over the map; everything felt and experienced with wildly melodramatic intensity. There's almost no subtlety nor sophistication in the book, nor in Ryann. She would have been far more palatable to me had her character been toned down a bit and her emotions more controlled.

Despite all that, I liked this book. I'm not even sure I can put my finger on why, exactly, because many of the issues in it are well known bugaboos that usually put me off my read. Maybe part of the appeal was the novelty of the non-touchy relationship, or the fact that Ryann's inner monologue and the dialogue between her friends and with Quinn made me chuckle. Ryann was a rather pedestrian and superficial character, but she grew on me. And Quinn, despite his ego and his history, really did try to improve himself for her. They were sorta sweet together. Sure, I couldn't quite see the appeal she held for him, but it was cute watching it. I ended up feeling surprised that I liked the book as much as I did, and despite issues, would continue with the series. I'm just not totally sure why.

Quickly Quinn and Ryann develop a friendship of sorts and she finds out that he is actually an Irish Faery. We also learn that there is an evil “presence” stalking Ryann, and Quinn is determined to keep her safe.

This story is told in the first-person point-of-view of heroine, Ryann, which means we get only her side of the story and an insight into her feelings. This is not a detractor to the book, but it did cause a bit of frustration on my part. Due to this and Ryann’s poor body image, the first half of this book drove me a little nutty. I felt that Ryann lacked any confidence and positive self-image. The girl is 5’ 7” and ONLY 135 pounds, yet she finds that she’s not attractive and too heavy. [NOTE: Unrealistic and/or poor body/self image is a HUGE pet peeve of mine... So I won’t rant on this too much, but I’ll say it upsets me.]

In addition to this, she is constantly drooling over Quinn. This isn’t a bad thing, but with the first person POV, all the reader has to go on are Ryann’s never-ending gushes about Quinn’s looks. She is attracted to him, but I don’t get a good sense of her feelings, and the reader has no clue what Quinn feels. Due to this, there was little emotional impact on me. And at one point when Ryann confesses to herself that Quinn is the center of her universe, I found it pretty hard to believe - and the couple hadn’t even shared a kiss! Something truly evil is chasing Ryann, yet she plays “he likes me, he likes me not” games in her head. I wanted to shout... JUST TELL HIM!

However, everything changes when Ryann finally tells Quinn how she feels. The emotional outfall of this scene is superbly written and my investment in the couple increased tenfold. After this point, the rhythm of the story picks up and the action jumps off the pages. The details and descriptions are stimulating and satisfying. A particular favorite of mine is when Ryann enters Wiccan roommate, Martha’s room for the first time. The details are written so well that I am able to visualize the space and Martha so clearly, and I also get a fabulous sense of Ryann’s feelings about approaching Martha for help.

There are some completely touching moments between Ryann and Quinn that made my heart melt and my eyes mist up. I wanted the second part of the book to go on and on. The romance at the end is HOT and worth the wait.

For a book that started slow, it finished amazingly strong. Quinn and Ryann touched my heart and their story left me in a warm, fuzzy place. I am looking forward to Ms. Sanchez’s follow up story!

Let me just say that I fell in love with Ryann from the first sentence: All men are assholes. Ryann is my kinda girl; she's smart, witty, sarcastic and has a sharp tongue. The story is about a tough, independent girl who falls in love with a man she can't touch. The chemistry between the two ill-fated lovers was electric, and the mythical story surrounding his curse was really interesting.

I really wanted this book to blow me away, and it just...didn't. There were all the ingredients needed for a delicious story, but the plot just didn't rise to its potential.

If you love fantasy books with little spice and spark in it, this is definetely a book for you!

Books starts with Ryann (the main character) thinking: All men are assholes.
Ryann is a university student who waits tables in a club Fire and Ice to make some extra money for her studies. She meets Quinn, who really annoyes her to begin with. Quinn seems to be of Irish origin, he is hot and sexy and there is something weird about him, which Ryann doesn't understand. Quinn brings different women to the club and leaves them there. None of the women remember why they came to the club and have no memory of the guy who brought them there.
At the same time, as Ryann's and Quinn's story develops, there is a stalker appearing, who is not human.
Ruann and Quinn need to work together to get rid of the mysterious threat that wants something from Ryann.
Quinn has a secret and a curse he needs to break and only Ryann's love can break it!

I loved the story plot! The author writes in a way, that it is very difficult to put this book away, you are curious and want to know how the story develops. I especially loved the connection and relationships between Ryann and Quinn. I just loved the way Quinn spoke. i have always had a soft spot for Irish and their way of speaking and here the author just hit the point!

I also liked other charcthers - Jennyfer and Martha who were Ryann's roommates and also mystical Gabriel. Rushing little ahead, all of these three are also appearing in the next book written by Lisa.

The book was easy to read, it was interesting and exciting and funny. I have to admit, I loved the descriptions of the sexual attraction between Ryann and Quinn!!!

For fantasy readers it is relly a book I would highly reccomend! (less)

When I started reading Eve Of Samhain, my first thought was that it reminded me of Twilight. Here we have a pretty young girl that catches the eye of a tortured mystical soul. A forbidden love begins, but unlike Twilight, there are no shiny vampires and no muted language (always love that part). No critical scenes left to the imagination, and certainly no whiny heroine that doesn't fight back.

I love paranormal romance; I can't seem to help myself. When I received a request to review Lisa Sanchez's Hanaford Park Series, I did not hesitate to accept.

In Eve of Samhain, Quinn is the legendary Gancanagh, a magnificent fae whose very touch seduces women. WONDERFUL book, leaves you with a smile on your face...it's refreshing after some rather cliff hanger, not so happy endings to have one that's got an ending that just leaves you happy...elated even.

Though not something I normally read, as an adult novel, it was refreshing, and sweet yet dangerous. It left me breathless, with a sense of desire and fear, all interwoven, in a weirdly tangible way.

Honestly as a woman whom has not been "in love" in a long LONG time...it was nice reading about love....more

Mz Sanchez is really good at yanking you into the story and riling you right up. The characters were strong and likeable with a side of sinful. I love that her insanely good looking Quinn had so many flaws. I loved that Ryann was so incredibly strong. I loved that she turned what could have been a cardboard cut out witch character and made her interesting. There was so much to love about this book. A pretty good read, paranormal romance with a strong-willed female lead. Quinn is all kinds of bad/sexy/good, and the supporting characters, Jess and Martha, add to the story wonderfully. I would have liked to have seen the villain a little more fleshed out (if you'll forgive the pun). A nice way to spend a Saturday.
