At its best, Flash strives to explain the power dynamics between sexes, as pertaining to exhibitionism and explores the idea of degradation as power, putting forward this idea of submission as the ultimate means of control. It attempts to do that by explaining the process of the casting couch, as Maya Endicott goes from flasher to Hollywood starlet, and how her sexual proclivities allow her control over the producers and other men in her life. Carole Mallory (born 1942) is an American author, actress and former model who appeared in the films Looking for Mr. Goodbar and The Stepford Wives (1975 film). She was a mistress of writer Norman Mailer and kept notes and writings of this time, selling them to Harvard University in 2008 after the writer's death.
