I stood in B&N reading this book and a single, silent tear escaped down my cheek. I wasn't even pregnant at the time. Now, two babies later, the book touches me in places that it couldn't when I first read it, simply because I had never been there.
"You are my first wish...." every time I read that line to my son as he squirms in my lap, my eyes still well with tears. The book will, hopefully, one day convey the things to him that I cannot so eloquently say.

The first time I read this book I admit that I cried. A sweet story, nicely rhymed and beautifully illustrated, describing the relationship between a parent and a child.
My little boy loves this story and we read it nearly every night. I still sometimes get teary eyed as I read things that applied to my day or my feelings towards my little man.

I was invited to a babyshower for a dad and his little girl to be. I went looking for a book that either was about father and daughter or non-gendered. All the typical classics like Guess How Much and I'll love you forever are very gender specific and it was hard to find one with daddy and daughter. I liked that this was a dad, and even thought I wasn't sure if it was a girl or boy little bear...I did like that it could be either! I liked the metaphors about the relationship between the child an...more

This is one of my favourite books for William. I spotted the poem on Pinterest, and I have to admit it brought a little tear to my eye. It beautifully captures what it means to be a parent. When I learned it was published in book form I had to buy it right away. Even my husband got a little catch in his throat the first time he read it. Will enjoys it too, he started saying "I love you" when we started reading it. Now, at two, he doesn't ask for it as much anymore, but I think he'll come back to...more
We love this book as a mom, You Are My I Love You by Maryann Cusimano and Satomi Ichikawa pulls at the heart strings making you read as you smile with every word. Because as Moms the titles says it all. They are our I Love Yous! This is a cute book that takes a little bear and what looks like his dad on a little journey though playtime, bath time and a day with cute little rhymes that tell us how we love them.

This picture book uses rhyming verse to explore the complimentary relationship between parent and child. While the intended audience is those aged 3 to 6 years, the illustrations set a playful yet soft tone to help create a book to be shared and enjoyed by families. Although a reference to praying does not weaken the story, it may limit the book’s audience. As a children’s book that discuses familial love, it stands out for its sweetness, use of rhyme, and fun illustrations.

I read this in the bookstore looking for a special book for Natalie. I liked the pattern and rhythm of this book, but particularly liked the metaphors about child-parent relationships. I really enjoyed some of comparisons, but others weren't a good fit for us, which is ultimately while we didn't buy the book. The artwork was nice - soft drawings of cute teddy bears.
A friend of mine showed me this book when we worked together in the children's section of a bookstore... now, ten years later, she's a mama, adopted a little girl the same month I had my own daughter, and I just read it for the first time to my little minnow today and I have to admit, I got bleary-eyed. This is such a fantastically sweet book. 7.12.11
Probably my favorite children's book, although it's maybe more a book for parents. I vividly remember reading it my son when he was six months old and my husband and I crying. I read it many times since then too. It was a gift from my friend Tiffany Storm, and in the 11 years since then, I've bought it for many new moms/babies.
A very sweet story with a beautiful concept--highlighting the parent-child bond. The poetry flows well, the illustrations are cuddly--it's almost TOO precious, but manages not to teeter over the brink. I'm looking forward to revisiting this once I become a parent as I imagine I would appreciate it even more then! :-)
My mom really likes reading this book, it always makes her smile. I like how the sentences rhyme and the teddy bear illustrations are very cute. It's almost a little bit too cute.
Mom's note: the only thing I don't like about this book is that one of the rhymes is about prayer. We just skip over that part.

This is one of my all-time most favorite children's books! My Mom bought this for me when I was pregnant with our first child. I felt a little teary eyed reading it but had no clue that four years later this book would so accurately capture my love for our children. Every parent should own this one!
If you ever get on Amazon to order this book, order multiple copies! You will want to give one to every new mom you know. It will make you sigh big sighs, hug your children tighter and remember why you love being a mom. Seriously, go to the library right now or bookstore and buy a copy.......right now.

My mom bought this book for my daughter and us and it made me cry. A lot. I love how it shows how a child sees their parent and how the parent sees their child. Adorable.

I love how the illustrations are drawn and love the book. It is very sweet and loving as the mother and father bear play with their cub.
I gave this book an extra star because I thought that it was really sweet. (Awwwwwww)
