Binky's the space cat is back for his 3rd adventure. He successfully negotiated the obstacles in Binky the Space Cat and Binky to the Rescue. Now he has a new challenge- another space travelling cat has invaded his space station. Gracie is not just a colleague, however, she's his boss, coming to evaluate his performance. Will he pass her tests and continue as a space cat?

Ashley Spires (Larf) is known for her quirky characters, and Binky is no exception. He has the finest qualities of a domestica...more

Binky the Space Cat is back, and is as busy as ever, protecting his space station and his humans from invading aliens (bugs). When Binky is a little too overzealous in his pursuit of aliens, he falls through the bathroom window and lands (gasp) in outer space. Young readers will love being one up on Binky as they quickly realize that the space station is his house and outer space is the yard. Binky's quick thinking allows him to find an oxygen source (uh, garden hose) just in time, and the panel...more

When I try to think of cat-related graphic novels for kids, I find that titles don't fall trippingly off of my tongue. Sure there's the fabulous Fashion Kitty (a great series, in spite of the sound of its name). But that's about it on the feline side of things. While mice have always fared well in comics (Mickey Mouse, Maus, etc.) and continue to do so (Babymouse, Mouse Guard, Missile Mouse, etc.) cats don't get a lot of play aside from the odd Krazy Kat and Calvin and Hobbes. Enter Binky. Binky...more

Odd yet appealing. Oddly appealing. Appealingly fun.

I picked this out of a group of new books and found it so approachable that I read the first ten pages before I knew it, then checked it out to read the rest. I haven't read the first one so I don't know how that would have changed my introduction to Binky the Space Cat, but I thoroughly enjoyed this adventure.

Binky is a highly imaginative cat who firmly believes his house is a space station. He defends is station against invading aliens, which...more

Audience: 2nd-7th graders who like cats and adventure stories, especially those who like fart jokes and lots of noise effects.

Appeal: While I was not impressed with this graphic novel, I can see that there could be great appeal for some kids who like silly stories with cats and adventure. Although the color palette is limited, the drawings are very well executed. There is great expression in Binky's face and body language. Personally, I found the constant sound effects to be distracting rather t...more

Binky is a seeminly everyday housecat; but he's really a spacecat! In this comic book, our feline hero ventures outside of the mothership (read: house) and returns safely. However, his trusted stuffed moose Ted does not make it back. Binky has to launch a rescue mission to save Ted from the "aliens" nesting in the tree in the yard. Binky is a truly charming character--though this reviewer must confess to being a cat person, so I do have a bias. The ink and watercolor illustrations show Binky's f...more

After abandoning his plans for space travel to protect his humans, Binky gave up on any chance for stepping foot outside the space station. That is, until he accidentally falls out of a window. He always knew that being a member of F.U.R.S.T. came with its share of dangers, but space is a dangerous place for a kitty. Luckily his humans come to HIS rescue. Everything returns to normal until - GASP!!! Where's his best friend, Ted? Outside!!! Right beneath the alien spacecraft!!! Will Binky take hi...more

Binky is a cat who sports the oddest, yet niftiest, set of cat ears I've ever seen drawn. He takes his self-appointed role as household protector against aliens (specifically, bees. and maybe flies.) very seriously. Unfortunately, Binky falls through a window in an attempt to corner a particularly pesky insect. In Binky's mind, the outside is OUTER SPACE, and this is where his adventure, and rescue efforts of his beloved friend and stuffed mouse, begin. This also marks the point in the book wher...more

This is a cute graphic novel for any gender, but maybe leaning more towards boys because of some of the humor, between grades third through fifth. It is like a comic about a space cat, named Binky, who is on a mission to save his mousie from the aliens (aka bees). From Binky's prospective outside is space and he refers to his owners as "humans". It is a very creative story and gets the reader to think outside of the box. I love that the pictures are in a comic book style with squares of events....more

This is like literally the funniest animal book that I've read so far. Its so funny how Binky gets into so much problems. But you know what? Its even funny how he tries to solve it. Binky goes outside to play, but when he is called back into the house, he totally forgot about his toy. He tries to get back out to get it but the door is locked. So first he tries to camouflage his way through the door, but his tail gets stuck on the door. Then he tries to dig underground, but he went the wrong way....more

This sequel to Binky the Space Cat continues Binky’s adventures as a cat who believes he lives in outer space. The graphic novel format is an ideal way to showcase the wry humor of the story. In this latest adventure, Binky is busily battling his enemies, the insects that he considers aliens. But when he pushes too hard on a window screen, he falls out the window and into the backyard, or outer space! Luckily, Binky thinks quickly and finds a oxygen source (the garden hose) and ties himself down...more

Binky is a normal everyday housecat who believes that he is, instead, a spacecat. Bugs in the house? Aliens. The house itself? A space station. Unfortunately, one day Binky falls out a screen window with his stuffed mousie (or, to his mind, co-pilot) Fred. When Binky is turned safely, he discovers that Fred is still in danger outside. Thus begins the daring rescue mission. The art is amusing, the text fun, and the descriptive words found in practically every panel a great little learning-to-read...more

Binky is back! And this time, he must venture into "outer space" to save his copilot, Ted the mousie.

It's ridiculous, but I am completely tickled when a new Binky adventure comes out. I just love this cat! He is so entertaining. And it is obvious that he loves his humans and really wants to protect them. What makes this book interesting is that he also risks himself to save his stuffed mousie. Just proves that to pets their toys are sometimes just as valuble as their humans.

I didn't like Binky to the Rescue as much as the first Binky book. The first was just so fresh and lovely... I think I remember liking the graphic design of the firs tone better- I'm not a big fan of the staggered frames with the all caps tex tin boxes- it just seems too abrupt somehow. In any case, Binky is still fun as a pretty soft, light graphic novel. the physical humor is still there, even if the story feels a bit forced rather than completely spontaneous.

These Binky books are very funny. After reading the first one, Logan could hardly wait for this one. Binky, certified space cat, falls out the window. "Holy fuzzbutt! Binky is in outer space!!" He manages to survive an attack of fierce aliens (wasps) and is rescued by his owner, but oh no! Ted (his stuffed mousie) is left outside! "And now he has been abandoned to suffer the evil whimes of the enemy!" Will Binky be able to rescue Ted? Read and learn.

Binky to the Rescue by Ashley Spires is is the sequel to Binky the Space Cat. This time Binky gets to put all his training to the ultimate test when he accidentally finds himself outside!

For anyone who has ever owned a cat, especially a house cat, Binky will delight. It will also ring true. From Binky's point of view, the house is a space station and the outside is outer space.

Of course outside isn't outer space, but Binky does his best to survive under the rules of his delusion. He tries to bre...more

While protecting his humans from aliens, Binky falls into outer space. His humans rescue him but Ted, his best friend, is left behind in outer space. Binky must rescue him. He makes many attempts and finally has to dig a tunnel out of the house to get Ted. After rescuing Ted, he needs medical attention. His human friends help him out. Maybe his human friends are not as small brained as he thought.

Binky the Space Cat lives in a delusional world where the house is a space station and outside is outer space. The house is under attack from 'aliens' (bugs) and in pursuit he accidently falls out the window and must deal with an alien landscape and brave wasps to rescue his beloved mousie toy. Very funny indeed. Sure to play well to early graders.

bonus feature: there is a garden gnome in the yard.

Graphic Novels for kids are becoming very popular at my library and so I am attempting to keep up with the demand. Binky to the Rescue is a very cute read about a house cat who things that outside is outer space and to save his beloved stuffed animal from the aliens (all insects) he attempts a rescue mission. There is also Bink in Outer space and a 3rd book coming out in September.

This book was amazing. If I could I would put a whole entire pad of stars. Just by reading this book I've learned so many more things about him. I've learned that Binky the cat toots a lot, he has reading glasses, he burps after he eats, he thinks he's in outer space, he thinks bugs are aliens, and sooooooooo much more. I'm telling you, read this BOOK. Now to end this I would like to know where all the other books are so i can start reading.

While chasing an alien, Binky falls out of the spaceship porthole into outer space. Then he has to rescue his co-pilot from an alien invasion. OR, Binky falls out of the bathroom window while chasing a fly, and rescues his cat toy from under a wasps nest.

All I can say is if I had known that wasps were involved, I would not have read it. Fortunately, encountering the phrase HOLY FUZZBUTT has made up for my trauma. I plan to start yelling this at my cat as soon as possible.
Becky
Awww, Binky! He still thinks he's a space cat, and this time, he accidentally falls out of the window of his space station (house) into Outer Space. All the small verbs and sounds that follow him around are one of my favorite parts.

"Sweet and clever, and for those kids who disdain sweet and clever, there is also farting." -SLJ, starred review

I thought this was a very cute book. The illustrations were great and very appealing to young readers. The recommended audience would be 1st-4th graders. I think they would really enjoy reading this style of book and find the story very interesting and enjoyable. This book is from the Will Eisner award nominees in 2011.

I love Binky! In this book he falls out of the space station (his house), is attacked by aliens (wasps!), and has to rescue his best friend, Mousie. The illustrations are wonderful! School Library Journal has the best review: "Sweet and clever, and for those kids who disdain sweet and clever, there is also farting."

Very cute and silly. A graphic novel for early readers that will especially appeal to those familiar with cats. This is the second volume of a series, and if you haven't read the first volume, you should read that first. Otherwise, the basic concept may be a little confusing. You see, Binky is a trained space cat. No, really...
Brian
Sure, he looks like a normal housecat.....but Binky is really a SPACECAT...defending his space station/ house against alien invaders/flies. When Binky accidentally falls out a window into OUTER SPACE! he discovers his mousie toy friend Ted is outside trapped by the alien/bees! How will Binky rescue his pal?
Rick
A fun and well written book. The illustrations complement the text (or maybe the text complements the illustrations) very well. The character is funny and it's great watching him navigate the world in which he believes is a space outpost. It's not just good for kids but fun for anyone looking for a nice quick read.
Donalyn
Binky the cat is a secret Space Cat. When he falls out the window of his space station (house) he discovers an enemy warship (beehive) and must rescue his toy mouse, Ted. Binky's hilarious, but dedicated efforts to escape his humans in order to save Ted draw readers into Binky's imaginative space cat mission.
Morgan Davis
Binky is on a mission to find an alien and while he was doing this he fell into outer space. His friend Ted is on this mission with him, but then Binky realizes he is trapped. The antics of Binky the official certified space cat will be sure to make you laugh as he falls out the window into outer space.

I bought this book partly for my nephews and partly because the author is a local lady that has been getting much praise down at the comic shop. It was pretty good, and I think I'll get it read to the boys by this weekend. It's a bit longer then they are used to, but well worth it I think.
