I read this book shortly after it first came out and I didn't like the book itself very much but that didn't mean that I couldn't relate to it. So let me explain...
Why I didn't like it:
-Tracey has really, really low self-confidence and self-esteem! A lot of women can probably relate to this, but I was tired of reading about how unattractive she thought she was.
-She was totally dependent on men for happiness which is pretty pathetic.
-She doesn't seem to have any person...more

I've had this hiding in my closet for awhile so I finally read it -- classic format: young, neurotic 20-something woman living in Manhattan (it's either there or LA!) who is completely invested in her boyfriend (and of course, this is not mutual). The writing started out fairly strong and I was enjoying it, but it really petered out towards the end. The main character vows to transform herself during the summer while her boyfriend is away at summer stock, and very nearly does. Unfortunately I...more

As a fan of "chick lit," I can say that I really enjoyed this novel. I finished it in just under two days.
The main character Tracy is going through many life changes.
While her boyfriend is away acting in Summer Stock, Tracy decides to reinvent herself. Except she doesn't exactly do it the right way. Tracy basically starves herself and smokes in an attempt to lose weight. That's my only beef. It's not really realistic to lose 40 pounds in 11 weeks.

Okay....I'm giving this a 3 bec. it was kind of slow and annoying, well the character annoyed me for a little bit.
***Semi Spoiler*** I coudln't take Tracey & Will, saddens me to even read that a girl would deal with that. Hate when men make women feel dumb and insecure. I tended to want to read more about Buckley. But the end wasn't too bad and I finished it quickly. I think I will read Slightly Settled next

i really want to read this book its about Tracey Spadolini who's insecure and unhappy. Her boyfreind Will, a handsome but commitment-phobic actor is spending the summer in upstate New York, leaving Tracey behind in Manhattan. She then decides to reinvnt herself. She also meets Buckley, a good-looking, sweet guy. What will happen before will comes back?

I just read this a few months ago and I honestly couldn't tell you anything about it. I don't know if my memory just sucks that bad or it just didn't leave an impression on me.
I remember that I liked it when I read it. I remember that it was a pretty quick read. Probably good for travel or beach.

This was a quick read that had me sucked in from the beginning. I loved reading about Tracey and her life in New York...very exciting. I accidentally read the second book first and now I want to read it again, since I know the beginning!!! Definitely a good read if you want something light, quick, and fun.

All of the "Slightly" books are hysterical. Their cutesy and girly but sometimes you need an easy read. These books really try to encompass the crazy thoughts that go through our twenty somthing minds when we're single/engaged/married. If you're looking for a great read on the beach, this one's it.

Just not a great book for me to read for where I'm at in my life. I stuck it out for the "happy ending" that almost always accompanies this type of book and really only got a "content ending." It is good enough to read the next in the series "Slightly Settled." Maybe then I'll get my "happy ending!"

This book was excellent! It is the type of book that really makes you feel for the main character, as if you were her friend. A great read about a woman who uses a summer to vamp her life physically, emotionally, and intellectually. Can't wait to read the rest of the books in the series!

I love, love, love this book. This is the first of Markham's books that I have read and I have to say I'm not disappointed in the least. It was a quick read and it kept me entertained. The main character, Tracey, is just an ordinary, likeable girl and I can't wait to read more!

This was the first book that I read of Wendy Markham's and I really liked the characters and the plot. Although it was a little predictable, I still found myself wanting to find out what happened to her at the end. Can't wait to read the next one in the series. :)

While I like the occasional fluffy girly book, this one was just kinda lame. Maybe if you need the self esteem builder that the main character does it would be good. I personally would have just dumped the guy on page 1.

For being a "Red Dress Ink" (an imprint of Harlequin) title, this book was surprisingly good. The main character was funny, the book was paced well, and I bought the sequel - it was that good.

My friend, Bridget, said I have to read this book because the main character reminds her of me. I'm Slightly nervous (get it??) because what if the character is crazy?? :)

This was funny in a lot of ways. I found myself really hoping that she would find happiness. I didn't agree with her lifestyle, but overall it worked for her.

One of a series from Wendy Markham, this is by far her best! Buy all of them as you will plow right through them to find the ending.

A fast summer read about a twenty something transplant to NYC who finds out she's okay on her own.

I read Slightly Engaged and loved it so I thought this one would be good, but it wasn't really.
