This was a bit hard to get into, but it was delightful. The suspense at the end was very satisfying. A recent college graduate sees an Italian girl at a football game, and decides he has to visit her at her home in Italy. So he learns Italian (very well) from a professor with issues of his own, and then flies to Italy, where he has adventures and learns about himself and life. The professor has to mend fences with his family, and returns also.

Jeanne introduced me to this author with Every Sunday and I think I have now read all of his books except Villa Mirabella. I am thinking I will have to go back, now, and read Every Sunday again, since it has been awhile.
The ending of this book is the best, because it shows how people act when the chips are down. The beginning is a little slow, but the characters act like real people and not characters being manipulated in a book.
I also like the description of how emotions More...

I read this book after reading "Italian for Beginners" which I loved, and so that may be the reason that I didn't love this one. The night before I visited Florence and Pisa, the chapter I read took place in those locations which was fun. I have enjoyed all the books by Peter Pezzelli. He writes with warmth and sweetness.

A guy spent a day with an Italian girl. He fell in love, she left, he wanted to go to Italy to find her but wanted to impress her with being able to speak Italian. His teacher had issues with his brother still over there. Things all got resolved in the end.

It made me recall some of my Italian that I've lost from lack of speaking it. It's not really a book to learn the language. It's about a guy taking Italian Lessons & going to Italy. He went to some of the places I plan on going on my trip to Italy. I enjoyed it.

This was the most endearing book! Two men's love stories written by a man - how clever. I just fell in love with the main character - so easy-going and smart and typically male! Easy, fun read.

this is a geat book. all about how we search for happiness, and all the time it's in our own yard. It does this without being preachy. And easy read.

This book was good and had a nice development of characters. It shows how two people can really come together and bond.

This was a wonderful story with a complex inter-generational relationship between an old music teacher and a college student. The kid wants to learn Italian and the teacher IS Italian. The books starts out in New England and moves to Italy. The author handles characters deftly and provides detailled portrayals of the different settings. An entertaining, wide-ranging novel.

I really enjoyed this book, but not as much as I did his 3 other books.

Picked it up while waiting in a long line for starbucks at the barnes and noble. By the time I ordered I was into the second chapter and decided to take it as well as my Passion Tazo. The best part of this book is the cover artwork. It's pretty. Would make a nice bedside accent piece. But don't bother opening it.

This is one of several Fiction titles with a similar theme. Will appeal to readers who like fictional or NF travel-to- Italy/France style books, such as by Frances Mayes (Under the Tuscan Sun); Peter Mayle (A Good Year; Encore Provence); Maeve Binchy (The Evening Class)

This book started off a little slow for me, but I really got into the story once Carter went over to Italy. Not my favorite book of Pezzelli's, but I still enjoyed it. His books have the most beautiful covers.

I don't care if it is about Italy, I don't care that the Italian language is sprinkle through out the book...I just couldn't finish it. Stupid!
