This is by far the weakest book in the Tomorrow series. It certainly is a change of pace from the rest of the (action-packed) books in the series, but it wasn’t the slower pace that was the problem rather than the new direction it took the series. A group of feral children become the main focus of the story, and the dreadful, awful, horrendous Gavin takes over much of the Tomorrow and Ellie books from here on in.

Ellie and her friends have decided that it's time for them to leave Stratton and return to the safety of Hell. Their time in Stratton has given them a chance to heal, but also a chance to betray and be betrayed. Still reeling from Lee's actions, Ellie becomes determined to rescue a group of feral orphans. What Ellie hasn't counted on is that the orphans may not want to be rescued.

Okay, I LOVE the Tomorrow series, but this one is undoubtedly the nadir. In this book, no lie, the teens stumble upon a pack of feral kids, lead them out into the bush, and baby-sit them. For the entire book. Don't worry, the series does recover in book 7, so if you've made it this far in the series, just stick it out.

personel responce: i really liked this book and also the rest of this series. the whole idea is very interesting and is very realistic when you read it. its also quite interesting because it has all the teenage romances and dilemmas even though there a huge war going on and the charectors are public enimies. it is very well written and having it from a diary point of view was a brilliant way of writing it. i pariculary like this one in the series because theres children in More...

I think a lot of people probably will like this book less than all the others. Mainly because by book 6 if you're still reading, it's because you've got the formula down, you expect some explosions and close calls, and you like that! (I do) This book doesn't follow the formula the previous 5 did, but the tension is still high. I have to say I was bored by the first half, but really appreciated that Marsden changed the storytelling, introduced some new characters that showed the reader another si

This one still gets four stars although it has been my least favorite out of the series. The gang gets kids. It's not a surprise after the end of the last book, but I thought adding kids to take care of was an odd plot line to go with. It does show the main characters develop further by having more at stake than their own safety. It also shows how the much the characters are still kids themselves when they have difficulty caring for them. This book demonstrates Marsden's ability to show inner tu

Still an amazing series, but this foreshadowing is getting a bit old. When every second chapter stars with "We should have known...", "If only I had..." or something similar, you know that the author needs to learn a new writing technique.
But despite this, I'm still happily devouring the books. I liked the addition of the ferals in this one, even if Gavin did annoy me something terrible. He's deaf! That makes him a liability - not a help! He can't hear if there ar More...

This 6th installment of The Tomorrow Series finds Ellie and her friends hiding out, once again, in Hell. After their daring and devasting blow to the enemy in Book 5, they know laying low is the only way they will be able to survive. The enemy is out for blood.

It seems the general opinion of this is that it's the worst of the series, since it's more about Ellie and the gang looking after the feral kids instead of attacking the enemy. I really enjoyed it, though, still had the 'oh man I just can't put this down' feeling. Just as good as the rest of the series. An excellent build up to the last book, which I'm fighting myself from opening right now: The Other Side of Dawn. I think I'm going to find myself disappointed there aren't more books when I fini

Good golly, what a series! And Marsden: what a writer! I mean, it's not like he's the next Proust, with sentence structure that makes you weep. But his STORIES!!! Wonderfully plotted, this one in particular. Tension in spades, heartache. I was crying in about three places, possibly four, felt every bruise and scrape with Ellie. Amazing book(s). And the ending? Of this whole long, grabs you by the throat what will they do, series?
Fantastic.
Happy?

246 pages. Fiction. Australia has been invaded by an unnamed power. The story continues the saga of 4 teens as they enveloped in the chaos of war. Written in the form of a diary. The story is engrossing. Marsden continues to explore how the war changes and matures these kids. New characters are introduced. This book builds on a series that is worth reading and owning..

In The Night is for Hunting, the series about the teenagers stuck in a war zone in Australia (yes, I know, highly unlikely!), in their attempt to help out a group of youngsters that they had run into, the group ends up being stuck permanently babysitting 4 of them. This book is about their adventures in getting to Hell, and how the 9 of them interact and get used to each other.

Once I got to the second book in this series, I really started to enjoy it. However, book 6 was a bit of a chore to get through. The action was lacking, with the exception of the scene in the Whittaker place, and I felt like they jumped the shark bringing the "ferals" into the storyline. Book 6 read more as a bridge between book 5 and the final book in the series.

Very captivating. I found that my moods literally changes through out the book as tho I am the character. Could not put it down! In fact I couldnt put down any of them but Ive yet to read the last one of the series. Read them when I was a teenager (Half forgotten what it was all about but knew I loved it) and stumbled across them again just recently!

Have not read any of the earlier books in this series but always wanted to. This one fell into my hands so I gave it a try. Works well as a stand-alone survival story although more understanding of the backstory would have made it even better. A nice mix of Australian culture and setting, personal development of characters, danger and action.

This book started out great, with a big chase/escape scene, and i thought, yes, here we go again! Unfortunately, 5 more young kids, who were little shits most of the time, were introduced. They ran away, and the other characters literally spent about 50 pages looking for them. after that it got back on track. I can't wait to read the last one!

Marsden does a good job with this series, not having long repeats and info blogs of what has already transpired....and the youth continue to have issues and concerns, albeit, different and new and progressive. They learn how to deal with problems and face them head on, both in a personal and combative way.

A GREAT YA series! I couldn't put these books down. There are 7 titles in the series and each one is a page-turner. You will be impressed by the courage, conviction and pure determination shown by a small group of teenagers who are fighting for their lives when their country is invaded and goes to war.

The sixth in the 'Tommorrow when the war began" series detailing the continuing story of a group of teenagers who are caught up in an invasion of their country. The complex relationships in which they find themselves, as well as their struggle for survival, make for a gripping read.

I don't know if I'll love this series as much in ten years, but it came at the right time. I've never been into war stories; all the blood and guts never attracted me. But the characters and setting and plot just all works together in these. And I love all the blood and guts somehow!

Tomorrow series meets Baby-sitters Club.
Oh how I loathe the add-a-cute-kid plot device. Exponentially worse to add FIVE cute AND damaged kids.
Not my favorite book in the series, but Ellie's character development remains strong, and the final showdown in this book was great. Can't wait to see how this story wraps up.

Well, I read it, because I wanted to finish the series, but this one didn't have the same level of interest compared with the previous books in the series. I guess I didn't really find the addition of the children as very necessary. But, six down, one to go...

This book was read fast. But mainly because there was a lot of boring parts. I wasn't really hooked until the end and then it was finished. But the ending was good and made a nice intro to the final chapter.

It's incredible! I loved the ferals and Gavin. (For some reason, I've stopped thinking of him as one of the ferals. Perhaps it's because he sticks around after the rest are airlifted to New Zealand..?)
