I chose this book because I am taking a trip to Senegal soon through study abroad, and know very little about the country. I was attracted to this one because it was written by a teacher, and my focus is in education. I have to say, I was sorely disappointed by this book. While it does provide some insight into the culture, it is very obvious that the author lived in a much higher standard of living than the rest of the country and spent most of her time with other ex-pats in fancy restaurants. ...more
