A thrilling work of science fiction on an epic scale. With a cast of thousands, a storyline that continues down through generations, and a seemingly never ending tapestry of plot twists, this book is sure to delight any reader. One has to admit that the idea of a hero written as a cosmic-Jewish-zombie-telepath seems a bit hokey at first, but somehow the authors pull it off with only a few insults to the reader's intelligence.

This is definitely NOT a book for children however! The many adult the...more

As much a discipline and a study as it was a goal for me to read. I was surprised at how often my Sunday school teaching version of a story was vastly different from the original, which was often quite brief. Beautifully written at times and just plain boring and confusing at others. I found that as many questions were raised for me as they were answered. All of the violence and killing in the name of God was very disturbing, as was the general attitude towards women. The basic ethical teachings...more

It's not all made up but it's pretty cryptic. A long slog if you don't give a shit.

This is probably my favourite Bible of the year. It's goal is to respect the KJV , but to make the passages that are too archaic more contemporary. It does this brilliantly, as many passages have been left are alone and are EXACTLY the same the KJV, and other others retain the style of language, but have been modernised. It results in a Bible loyal to the original translations, without losing much of the detail, but maintaining an understanding for a modern reader. Some of the passages are just...more

There has never been one like the Word of God nor will there ever be one after the Word of God. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God," John 1:1
More than a history, more than a collection of stories, more than a book in a hotel night stand, more than something to swear on, more than dust on a shelf to build upon, more than print on parchment, more than a place to find a baby name, more than ideas for decorating a child's room, more than something that o...more

I went to Catholic school, so I've read this a bunch of times. But that was many years ago, I've been agnostic for a long time, and I decided in 2007 I would spend the year reading it cover to cover. I'm counting this as read, though I technically still have half of Revelations to go. Don't spoil the ending for me! I'm guessing that in the twist ending it turns out it was all a dream.

Recommends it for: Those that like seeing cute pictures in their bible.
This book is so cute! I got this book due to the fact that I was looking for it but it got thrown out due to it missing pages and the book being rotten. I am so happy to relive this bible and bring it back to life by getting an recent version of this and bringing back memories of someone I know who used to own this bible as a gift.

I have a copy of this in light pink.

Perfect edition for any child. Includes beautiful illustrations with the story that the illustration represents. An in depth listing of bible terms, names, etc. Also a section of answers to your questions that any child can use with ease.
