Aisling is such a fun heroine. She reminds me a bit of Stephanie Plum. She's kinda clueless at the beginning, gets sucked into a paranormal world she had no idea existed, and she had always been a part of.
I enjoyed the storyline a lot, it was very different. And for someone not used to reading books about dragons, I loved this one. It may have something to do with the extremely delicious green dragon Drake. He is sexy!
But, the book wouldn't be the same without Aisling's sidekick. A demo...more

I remember picking up this book at the library a couple of months ago, reading the back cover and becoming intrigued by what it said. Then I noticed the spine of the book classified it as a "Paranormal Romance," a genre I don't believe I've experienced before. Paranormal? Fun! Interesting! Romance? Ick! Hate! I wasn’t in the right headspace to properly enjoy this novel. It wasn’t worse than any number of similar books I’ve read, but I found myself picking fault with this novel more than I did with the others.
My primary stumbling block was the romance between Aisling and Drake, which is a definite problem as so much of the novel revolves around their bond. This book and the rest of the series have tickled my funny bone. I really enjoy the playfulness and humor, even though some of it is forced and unrealistic. I think the characters and entire world she has created is interesting and fun. I liked learning more about the different dragons, guardians and other otherworldly creatures running around Europe, although at times it seemed like she was giving a lecture on the history of. A fun read-good pool-side or beach reading.
I absolutely LOVE everything Katie MacAlister writes!!! She is an author that can make me laugh out loud with any book she has. I anxiously await any new book that she releases!!!! I usually read them with in 36 hours (simply b/c I have children to keep up with!) ;)

This book just made me laugh. It was so silly and fun. I immediately went out to buy the rest of her books because this one is so good. I look forward to each new installment in the series.
This was a hoot! Funny and sexy - paranormal with a wink. I listened to the audio and it made the miles zip by. Great summer beach book too.

This was my introduction to paranormal chick lit and what an initiation! It was so unique, distinctly different from anything else I'd read. I couldn't put it down and savored every page. This is Book One of the "Aisling Grey" series, and I laughed all the way through it. What a fun novel!

This book was just a hoot! It wasn't the best written book as it was so packed with shmarmy-one-liners that at times it felt really contrived. Regardless, I really enjoyed it. It was just funny and made me smile repeatedly. Sometimes you just need lighthearted on the menu and this book delivers. It was so over the top when it came to the 'supernat potential' of Aisling, that you can whip up a really good case of suspension of disbelief for the whole series. I did not really enjoy this book. The main character was so closed mined and stupid, to which she admitted to. She I so steadfast that what she is is so impossible that she cannot see the possibilities the future has to hold for her and if she did open her eyes than maybe just maybe the big fat wad of trouble she has gotten herself into would stop getting worse. The beginning of the book was a lot better than the end of the book, but all in all, because the narrator's voice (Aisling Grey) was so humorous and the side characters (Jim, the demon dog; Rene, the taxi-driver) were lovable and memorable, it made up for some other lacking elements.

I started this series in the wrong way. I actually got my hands on the Silver Dragons section of this series before realizing this is where it all starts. But I had already started reading the Silver Dragons ans was going to finish that first, as I didn't have these books at the time and Gabriel Tauhou sounded like such a hottie with a naughty body. OK, yes, this is a formula we all know: there's a gateway to hell, a bad bad person on the loose, a bewildered yet eminently capable heroine, and a forbidding yet mouth-wateringly delicious supernatural hero.
But it's so good! It really is! Aisling Grey is great, full of foolhardy courage, totally able to take care of herself and yet not embarassed to ask for help, delightfully vulnerable to the charms of Drake Vireo while at the same time delightfully in control of herself.

You Slay Me by Katie MacAlister is one of those books that are hard for me to review. On a technical side, the story is well written. It's a fast, hilarious read with an interesting world that's slickly - and quickly - explored. And the secondary and ancillary characters were a hoot. The plot is interesting and kept me reading into the wee hours. So yeah, strictly in a technical way, the book is good. My problem is the main character, Aisling Grey.
