On reading this a second time, it is still good to hear/be reminded of the message, but it is almost old news and a bit harder to rejoice in.
The one thing that I notice now that I perhaps didn't notice a couple years ago, which comes from my recent experience in a very language conscious church community, is the definite portrayal of God as a masculine/paternal figure. Perhaps this is just because the author is focusing on the heart/perspective of a woman and so wants to complimen More...

Sometimes I try to bridge the gender gap and jump into strictly female-genre books. Most of the time I'm delighted by doing so (see "Lift" by Kelly Corrigan); it can be eye-opening to a man to try and experience life from a woman's, wife's or mother's perspective.
This book, however, spoke down to me regarding religion, beauty (inner and outer), and what women want. The author is not stupid as expressed through her word usage and approach to this book, but she preaches to More...

Yeah, I didn't like this book even though everyone in my circle was raving about it at the time. I think it is something moms want to give their girls to make them feel good about themselves....it was just too much for me.

A non-fiction book about the love affair we (ought to) have with God. It points out scripture after scripture of how God loves us, is enthralled by our beauty and wants us to not be wall-flowers but come dance with him. It's difficult to do it justice in words, but I highly recommend it. I read it in no time and often found myself moved to tears by the beauty of it. Even if nobody else seems to, God loves us above anything else. It took some getting used to, to read of God's love as a romantic l

This book is probably deserving of a higher rating. However, the topic was somewhat uncomfortable for me. Also, I read "A Beautiful Offering" earlier this summer, and I found that book to be much, much better. It was better written, and I liked the subject matter better.
There is much truth in "Do You Think I'm Beautiful?" and I would recommend it. It is definitely not a waste of time.

I love this book so far! I've been copying down quotes of practically the entire thing! It is incredible. Oh, so good :) I like her writing, and I feel like God has been romancing my heart directly through her words. I can't get over how Go...d is always doing that--using words to speak right to my heart and soul.

I reread this often. It's pretty religious and sometimes preachy, but the general idea that we're brainwashed to think we're princesses on Earth when in reality we are princesses in Heaven, always makes me smile.

It really helped me identify what I really was seeking on a very intimate and personal level. Great for anyone struggling with self-esteem or self-identity issues. Christian oriented.

This book has a good message (that God is enthralled with our beauty and doesn't want us to be wallflowers) and might be good for women struggling with self esteem issues.

Although I no longer believe in the religious message of this book, I liked the idea of beauty in a different sense.

This was a great book, one that really encouraged me during a tough season of my life.

This is a book from a Bible study that I'm currently doing, and I have to say that I'm really not loving it. We're doing the study with an accompanying workbook, which requires a major time commitment. Again, if I put the work into it (approximate equivalent: 3 credit-hour 200 level college course), I might get more out of it. This book is more enjoyable to read than the other Bible-study book I've posted, but it seems to only offer you some substantive help if you're willing to work on it al

This book really opened my eyes to how narrow my view of God's love for me was. Angela Thomas' idea may not resonate with everyone, but it spoke directly to my soul.
God's love is so all-encompassing that he doesn't just love me as his little child, he also loves me like Prince Charming loves Cinderella.
Great book about womanhood and a woman's relationship with God.

This book changed my life, ladies! It is so important to find our beauty in the Lord... Angela Thomas presents how to love and serve the Lord as a woman seeking after the Lord's heart in such a practical manner. I highly suggest this for any girl who wants to know what it means to experience the pursuit of a God who is radically passionate for chasing our hearts!

This book had a few good nuggets, but for the most part I think it went off the track pretty badly. I know that some counselors have used this book to help women with self-esteem issues. I wonder if they have picked and chosen from the ideas presented or presented it wholesale.

This book was excellent. It reminded me that God views me as beautiful, despite my many faults. We used it for our ladies group bible study and the ladies all responded positively to this book and the corresponding workbook.

I've never read Captivating, but from what I've heard about Captivating, this is a little more realistic. I loved it and gained a lot from this woman's perspective and her personal testimonies.

She had some good points, but I wasn't in a place for it to really speak to me. If I wasn't doing the companion journal along with it, I wouldn't have gotten anything out of it at all.

Great book. Read it on the heels of "Captivating" and it touched me. I especially liked the last chapters.

This is a quick but heartfelt read. It feels like a girlfriend is at your house for a sleepover pouring our her heart and wisdom. I think any woman young or old would love this book.

Every teenage girl should read this and every woman should read this...it is an excellent book!

Not great. Thought it might be a bit like "Captivating" but falls short in every way.

This book does a great job of revealing to the reader how beautiful we are in God's sight.

Every woman, no matter how secure she thinks she is should read this book!
