(This is a Level 2 Reader so not as complex or long as most of the Franklin books.) In this book Franklin and his friends are all getting ready for the Fall Fair and all want to win a blue ribbon. Franklin finds that he's growing a pumpkin and decides to take care of it daily to get it the biggest. But in the end he does a wonderful thing with it for his sister Harriett, a wonderful lesson for children on how to care for each other.

This story is based on the television character Franklin. This particular story is about a large pumpkin growing in his yard. There is a Fall Fair in town and all his friends are submitting things and hope to win a blue ribbon. Franklin is not sure what he can do with the pumpkin until his sister comes home crying. He helps make his sisters day better and in the end wins a blue ribbon in his own unique way.

This was a fun read and easy story to understand.

The ending of this book did not turn out at all how I thought it would, and it was a pleasant surprise. Franklin put his pumpkin to good use for the Fall Fair!
