This is a really great love story about love being strong enough to last...forever. Leigh grew believing that nothing ever lasts, fairy tales aren't real, a marriage is only a stepping stone to the next one. .bigger and better. Nick grew up without a family and he knows that family is want he wants more than ever. Cynical Leigh and Dreamer Nick meet, fall on love
, and get married, but while Nick pushes for the family he wants with God in the center, Leigh likes to take things very slow. Overtim...more

Code Triage is a complex romance filled with real people doing things for solid reasons that tear their world apart. I chose it at random to read on my phone because I had forgotten my eReader. Once I started, though, I couldn't put it down. Nick, a former chef turned police officer, and Leigh, an ER doctor, are multilayered characters, but they're not the only ones. The pseudo villain Samantha is well drawn, as is Caroline, Leigh's sister. Even incidental characters have meaning and purpose wit...more
Not super intrusive christian romance about a heroine who was traumatized by her slutty mother. The heroine walked in on her mother shagging the new boss and was forced to sit at the dinner table with mom, dad, new boss and new boss's wife and pretend happy families.
Her hubby is a cop who during a brief separation from the heroine, when she found out she was pregnant, freaked out, and went off on her own to figure things out, his partner died so he slept with the partner's sister. Of course he...more

Code Triage
by Candace Calvert
This book has all the elements of good fiction: believable characters, realistic settings and powerful emotions. It begins with a married couple approaching the date their divorce will be final - a divorce process begun because the husband, a police officer, broke his vows when his partner was killed and he went beyond consoling his partner's sister, a childhood friend.
His wife, an emergency room physician, felt betrayed and could not forgive her husband for this, a...more

CODE TRIAGE the third installment of The Mercy Hospital series is as gripping and as entertaining as CRITICAL CARE and DIASTER STATUS. The realism author Candace Calvert– a former ER nurse– brings to her novels allows readers to step into the shoes of those in the medical field.
Dr. Leigh Stathos is use to stress. As an ER nurse, she is use to handling traumatic situations. But when the drama invades her personal life, she’s not prepared for the emotional toll it takes on her. Already separated f...more

This is the 3rd in the Mercy Hospital series, and while very similar to the other two, I'd say this is the best because it's not set up to follow the same plot as the others. Where those have a single woman butting heads with men, not at all looking for a romantic relationship, this book features an already married couple heading for divorce where the soon-to-be ex-wife constantly crosses paths with the 'other woman' who ruined their marriage.

This book should have a warning label!
Something like:
Caution: This book may be hazardous to your daily routine. Side effects may include large neglected piles of laundry and/or over-producing herds of dust bunnies.
It was seriously THAT good! Unable to put it down and forget about the characters beckoning to me, I carried this book around and read it every time I had a minute to myself.

"Code Triage" is a medical suspense novel that will appeal to both men and women. The author dug into the deeper issues of how three different childhoods created three people with different expectations about love and marriage and how that threatened to tear apart Leigh and Nick's marriage. This book is for anyone who wonders if marriage can last for a lifetime.

This book at times left me speechless. Leigh's struggle with her husbands betrayal was so devastating and so personal. At first I wasn't sure if I could keep reading, I mean why would I want to keep reading a book where a husband has an affair and the silly woman (Leigh) gets back with him. I mean of course she needs to forgive him, but get back with a cheater? Inn my mind heck no! But this book did something beautiful. It made me realize we all sin in different ways, and for nick his sin was bi...more
Going through a reading slump? Try this one! This book hooked me from page one and wouldn't let me go. 'Code Triage' was written by Candace Calvert who used to be an ER nurse. So she has lived many ER situations and knows how to make writing about them realistic. ‘Code Triage’ started off engrossing and maintained a quick pace that doesn’t let you go throughout the book. My father was a doctor and I grew up playing with a skeleton (when he was learning the bones) and used to the smells of a hosp...more

Candace Calvert's Code Triage novel is one of the best Christian fiction books I have read in a long time. It is impossible to list what is not in this book because I felt it was chock full of almost every important issue our society faces today. The most important issue for me in the book is the fact that Main street, America are definitely inhabited by people who are not having their desires met in the way they wish. Sadly, these people become impatient and angry. It is not lo...more

Help me! I need a prescription STAT! Because I am seriously addicted to Candace Calvert’s Medical Hope series fiction!
The pace, action, romance, suspense, drama, characters, faith, story! I could go on and on about the things I love about this book (or the entire series).
There is something about a medical drama that yanks at my attention. I don’t have to understand the medical terms to get the anxiety of the moment. I don’t have to intimately know a hospital to see the staff and workings, the d...more

I've heard such awesome things about this series that I was thrilled when Tyndale sent me this book to review.
This is a very realistically written hospital drama (some scenes had me on the edge of my chair wondering what would happen next while another section detailed a patient's allergy problems). It had these great characters that I truly was pulling for, realistic problems and struggles that they had been facing up to this point and even into their seven days and even some mystery.

This was a good book. I liked the characters and the story line. I expected a HEA, which there was, but I liked that the trajectory was unexpected. There was plenty of action, romance, twists and turns, and quirky/lovable characters.
I didn't like Sam Gordon's character, and I didn't understand her turn from vindictive and manipulative to understanding at the end. I suppose it was the near death experience, but since the first didn't have that effect, it just felt insincere. This wasn't a major d...more

Tension is the word for Candace Calvert’s book Code Triage.
Just being an ER doctor makes for tension for Dr. Leigh Stathos.
Just being a cop makes for tension for Nick Stathos.
His affair and their pending divorce makes for tension between them.
Especially when their jobs are always bringing them together.
A former ER nurse, Calvert writes some pretty heart-pounding scenes, but my favorite part of the book is the way she weaves a lemon tree and a dining room table throughout the story as metaphors...more

I'd give this book 10 stars if I could! Candace Calvert does it again with a beautiful love story featuring, this time, a police officer and a doctor. Leigh Stathos is a successful ER doctor who has decided life with police officer hubby Nick just isn't worth it since his affair with Sam. She throws herself into her work and her horse. Nick is beside himself, sleeping outside the house, calling, texting Leigh wanting to reconcile.

A fast-paced medical-drama, which will keep you turning pages until the end!
Miss Calvert has composed fabulous characters that I loved immediately! I felt so connected to Leigh. I ached with her and smiled with her. Nick too.
Leigh has her own definition of “being stubborn”. She refuses to believe that “happily ever after” exists for anyone. Her mother only reinforces this belief by never staying with a man and telling her love never lasts. Leigh is broken by her husband’s unfaithfulness and she...more

I had the good fortune of being able to read an advance review copy of Code Triage. I have thoroughly enjoyed Candace Calvert's previous books in this series, and the latest entry holds up to the same standard I'd set for the others.
You see, I don't read Romances. Ever.
And I particularly don't read Inspirational Romances.
But I do love Candace Calvert's novels. She takes the reader through despair and hope, fear and joy, anticipation and dread with a deft hand. Her characters and situations fee...more

CODE TRIAGE is the third book in the series MERCY HOSPITAL, and what a great series this is. CODE TRIAGE had a mixture of action, suspense, faith and drama. It was a heart felt story of a man who so desperately wanted to save his marriage after he hurt his wife. this story was real, something that really happens. I enjoyed this book on so many levels. You will fall in love with the characters, I found myself cheering them on. This is a medical fiction and the excitement in the ER also done well,...more

I got this book because I like medical mysteries, but was a little disappointed when it turned out to be a religious treatise. However, the storyline was medical as well as social and I still wanted to slap the main female character out most of the way through the book. I sympathised with the male character, though he appeared to be extremely stupid in not realising what the bad girl was doing in messing with his wife's head.

Code Triage, is Book 3 in the Mercy Hospital series. I have never read a book by Candace Calvert before, but don’t plan on missing any more and I will read the ones I’ve missed.
This story is about Nick and Leigh Stathos. They are married but very close to being divorced. Leigh is a very tough kind of doctor in the ER. Officer Nick Stathos is a hard worker that helps over and beyond the call of duty. Nick made a mistake that put their marriage in jeopardy. Then things bring them together again an...more

It took me a long time to get through this because I kept losing interest. I kept reading other fast, intense books in between. This just dragged out and the preachiness/prayer I found disruptive to the story line, which in itself was ok.

The last of this series picks up with Dr. Leigh Strathos and her "no emotions complications" life. All seems to be going well until her husband Nick, who she is separated from, contacts her and wants her to come home to help her sister. Then a new set of complications arise.

I liked the hospital setting and medical scenes in this book. There were lots of unfamiliar medical terms but they became clear in context. I'd call this book a medical thriller romance.
The secondary characters were my favorites: Kristi and her kids, the hospital security guard, the elderly neighbor couple (old love really is cuter than young), Maria the foster child, and Tag the donkey. Especially Tag the donkey!

She's done it again, sucked me in and made me cry. Darn you, Candace Calvert! LOL!
Seriously, I think CODE TRIAGE is the best so far. Every time it seems like things are going to work out for Leigh and Nick - BAM! another barrier is thrown up in their paths. And not melodramatic stuff, either. Real, true to life kind of issues keep Leigh and Nick from working things out to save their marriage.

Dr. Stathos believed in "Happily ever after" at one point in her life. Her mother, on the other hand, told her it never happened. I have never read a book by Candace Calvert before, but the third book in the Mercy Hospital series is great! With a mixture of suspense, action, and a heart-felt story about a marriage that a man wants so desperately to save after he hurt his wife. This book was hard for me to get into initially. Not because it was bad...it was actually really good, but because of the story line. I'm not a fan of stories where the spouse cheats. Add into the mix, the point of view from the "other woman" and her plotting to get the man back...oh, it was really hard for me to handle. In fact, I started this book and then put it down for about a month because I didn't think I'd like it...but low and behold, I survived and I liked it a lot!
