The stories in this collection are quirky and not worried about realism. The magical elements feel commonplace with the murderers and heartsick characters that fill "Strange Weather." The best story is the opening one, "Trafalgar," which switches between the points of view of a daughter and her mother as they visit London.

This is a slim collection, but a good one, with quirky stories that don't sacrifice characterization for the sake of cuteness.

Great book. Would have given it another star if there weren't so many dead cats.

Becky Hagenston is a short story master. These stories are dark and funny all at once. Everyone of them resonant. Short story lovers should pick up this award winning collection.

I love the sense of humor in these stories. They can be dark and a bit surreal at times, but they hit home.
