See those pancakes on the cover? I made those! They turned out just as beautifully. A word of warning though, I would cut this recipe in half unless you have a football team lurking around. I used all of the batter and froze the remaining pancakes. One minute in the microwave and they tasted almost better than the fresh made ones. I have read about other cooks doing this with pancakes, but never tried it myself. I put them in zip lock bags with wax paper in between. Now whenever I want pancakes,...more
This book is the newest addition to my new "gift-worthy" list. I got to test out a few of the recipes a few weeks ago when I made brunch for 7 of us. Unfortunately, I don't have photos to show the yummies as my camera was out of commission during that time. I will tell you what I used from the fantastic book:
Vanilla Buttermilk Waffles
Maple Butter
Crunchy Bananas with Cinnamon Chili Chocolate Sauce
I also made the required bacon and sausage with coffee and orange juice. I am thrilled to report tha...more

I won this book on goodreads. What a gift!
I really like this cookbook for lots of reasons. First, the photography is great. It is simple and honest plus I like how it really shows the texture of the foods. It is also enticing. I want to eat most of what they photograph!
The narratives that introduce each chapter are interesting and filled with tips. Plus, it is fun to read about the relationship the chef and owner has with each category of food.

I love this cookbook, and let me assure you it's not just baking. There is all kinds of different dishes to make. I went through the whole recipe book, and was hard-pressed between 2 recipes, the one I chose and Clinton St. Burgers. I'm so glad I chose the cookies, they are a hit, though I aim to still try those burgers!
The cookies were amazing! They tasted more like shortbread to me, and my whole family loved them. When I first said maple walnut, I got lots of grumbling. After they were baked a...more

This is a beautiful photo-ladened cookbook that features breakfast and brunch foods, including desserts and cocktails. The recipes are clear and easy to follow (though perhaps a bit more complex than those found in the average community group cookbook) and use ingredients, which if not regular pantry staples at my house, are things my husband could locate at our normal grocery store. When I first got this book, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it contained recipes that were not all baking. Mouthwatering, beautiful photographs accompany recipes for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, and dessert. There were so many I flagged to make in the near future and I can't wait to try them! So far, I made one of their cookie recipes. I love to bake, and their "Brookie" recipe had me curious - a cross between a brownie and a cookie. These cookies were simple and quick to make,...more
4.5 Stars....
From my book review blog Rundpinne..."I can honestly say this is the first cookbook I have looked at where there is not one thing I would not eat, it is simply that good. Neil introduces" the sections with tips, suggestions, and a story or two and proceeds with not only the recipe accompanied by beautifully photographed food, but also tips and hints to making and preparing each dish."....The full review may be read here.

Wow! Great cover art not to mention the delicious pictures inside. I like the paragraphs introducing the recipes, too. I look forward to making the omelettes their way - only cooked on one side and then folded into thirds - NOT flipped and cooked on both sides. :)
Now that I have made their pancake recipe 4, maybe 5 times in the last 2 weeks I can tell you it is awesome! Not low fat (since the recipe includes 6 eggs and quite a bit of melted butter in the batter but it is spread out in 4 cups of...more

I recieved this book through GoodReads First Reads for free. I am absolutely delighted with this cookbook. I was very excited when I found out that I was recieving this book and was not disappointed. The recipes are wonderful, they turn out just as described. The first day I made the buttermilk biscuits, they turned out light, golden, moist and perfect. The intructions are very easy to follow, interesting and most of all, delicious. This is a great cookbook for anyone, and would make a wonderful...more

I seen this cookbook from another blogger named bookhounds and just had to try it. It has become one of my favorites to use, I loved it! I have found several recipes that worked out wonderful for me and my family. I love all the pictures and little notes they give you. There are recipes for Biscuits, Muffins and Scones, Eggs, pancakes, soups, Sandwiches, fried chicken, sides, condiments, desserts and drinks. The eggs section OMG! I was in need of getting out of the same old way to make eggs and...more
I'm not the world's greatest cook, and this book still works for me. The recipes are nice and easy and give great results. And the photos are amazing—you really get hungry just reading the book. I know I'll definitely be using it a lot. Seriously, there are brookies in here—genius! I can't wait to try them!
This hard cover book has sooo many delicious looking recipes. It has 10 different sections. Biscuits, muffins & scones, eggs, pancakes, soups, sandwiches, fried chicken, sides, condiments, desserts, and drinks.
I will definitely be trying the fried chicken and pancakes. the fried chicken is soaked in buttermilk first before frying. And the pancakes , you incorporate egg whites to make them light and fluffy. Everything has easy to follow directions. And pictures to show you what it looks like....more
