Another Harlequin added to the repertoire, this time under the Blaze category.

Carrie is a cynical comic strip artist. Sam is the owner of the "haunted" Crider Inn. Jaded and introverted Carrie doesn't believe in ghosts or any other spirit mumbo-jumbo, but agrees to spend a week at the inn with her ghost-crazy best friend. While on vacation Carrie meets Sam, who fits into her "vacation fling" category. Sam is undeniably attracted to Carrie, and the two indulge in a week long affair. But after num

As summer comes to an end, I’ve been challenged to read a book with luscious love scenes. I immediately thought of Harlequin’s Blaze line, and grabbed Shiver by Jo Leigh, a 2010 release that is still available digitally. Though the story wasn’t quite as steamy as I’d expected, I still ended up with a sexy, fun read, and I’d give it a B.

My first recommendation to readers? Don’t judge this one by its cover. It’s a lot more offbeat and fun than that somewhat generic picture would suggest. After all

Comic strip artist, Carrie Sawyer’s best friend drags her on an organized ghost hunting trip in Colorado. The inn is owned by Sam Crider, who is also a film-maker and extremely sexy. Carrie absolutely does not believe in ghosts and nearly ruins the trip for everyone by showing her disbelief, but she’s very much distracted by the handsome owner of Crider Inn. In fact, they can’t keep their hands off each other.

Carrie figures there’s nothing wrong with a vacation fling, but is that really all she

Thoroughly enjoyable romp with a delightfully geeky heroine. I identified with Carrie quite a bit, and loved scenes with her and her best friend. They reminded me so much of myself and my BFF. A ghost-hunting convention is exactly the sort of thing my BFF would drag me off to visit.

And I easily fell for very charming and very hot Sam. Being back at his family's supposedly haunted hotel stirs up a lot of memories, and all he wants is to sell the place and finance some new film-making. He and f

Shiver is the first ever Harlequin romance that I have ever read! And I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. I expected nothing but mindless sex mush and corny drawn-out storylines. And yes, there was plenty of sex, and yes, much of it was corny...however, it had more depth and fun then I expected!

This Halloween tale (perfect for October reading) takes place at a "Haunted" hotel, where a skeptic falls madly in love with the sexy hotel owner during a Ghost Hunting extravaganza Halloween weekend.

If I were trying to hook someone under 30 on romance novels, this would be the book I would hand them.

However, I would rip the cover off of it first.

SHIVER is a love story about a cartoonist and an indie filmmaker who meet on a week-long ghost-hunting trip at a secluded inn outside Denver. There is literally nothing about this cover that alerts the reader that the contents are young and hip. Is that dude really tickling his lover with a peacock feather?

The hero and heroine make for an unlikely c

Enjoyable, sexy, entertaining romance. I loved the setting...a remote Colorado hotel the week of Halloween! Very likable hero and heroine. Jo Leigh strikes again with another great romance!

Recommends it for: Anyone looking for a short, steamy read
Cutesy, almost-predictable read with a snarky/sassy heroine.
