I really like J.A. Jance, but MINOR IN POSSESION was a slight disappointment. Granted I’ve only read 1 other J.P Beaumont novel, but the story-line seemed disjointed and a bit trite. Beau has taken sick leave from the Seattle P.D. to dry out in an Arizona rehab center. He is stuck rooming in a cabin with 19 year old Joey Rothman who is about to graduate from the program. Our homicide Detective is miffed that Joey breaks curfew and suspects illegal activity, since the teen is the center for a Min

#8 in the series of J.P. Beaumont, Detective of Seattle, WA. This is one of my favorites. In this one Beau has admitted himself to a rehab resort in Wickenburg, AZ after realizing he is addicted to alcohol - MacNaughton's Canadian Whiskey precisely, at the insistance of his buddy and lawyer Ralph Ames, also an Arizona resident. Beau gets involved in murder, nonetheless, as his roommate, a young man allegedly a druggie, is murdered with Beau's own revolver which was stored in his rented vehicle

This is one of her older "Beaumont" novels. Never read this one, but I really enjoyed it. She references some previous books featuring Beaumont that I have read, which makes me wonder if there are others I've missed. Anyway, it was a fast paced story, with some nice twists at the end. I read it quickly, which is always a sure sign that I enjoyed a book.

This is #8 in the series, and I am reading them in order, which I recommend. I started this very early this morning, (as in 4:30) and finished it by noon. Needless to say, I liked it. :-) It truly explains several dimensions in the character of J.P. Beaumont.

Beau's first trip to Arizona is to dry out at the Ironwood Clinic. Instead he ends up dealing with local officers in solving the murder of a fellow patient/roommate at the clinic.

Fairly good story for what is a minor novel for J.A. Jance. She is a very good writer and has done better books than this one. It was not bad, just not really good. A very quick read.

Borrowed from a friend. Series takes place in Arizona, a riveting story! Picked it up yesterday morning, and finished it lastnight. Eager to read the rest of the series!

Pretty good, I like the JP Beaumont series, fun to listen to on commute, but not a _must_ read.

I actually listened to this on audio book format. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE find someone else to read these books!!! This took about twice as long to listen to thanks to a mono-toned narrator who must be a relative of the author since he has no business reading for a living. Interesting story about a Seattle detective who checks into an alcohal treatment center in New Mexico. His roomate is a young drug dealer who is in the center due to a court order. The roomate turns up dead right after it is disc

Great just like the other books in the series. I never want to put the books down, there's always like 10 twists throughout the book! This one was alittle different because he wasn't really ever on the case, so I felt lost during most of the investigation. I like when we move along with the discovery of the case. We, as the reader, was lost along with Beaumont. But that was the only part I did not enjoy! Great book!

A solid read, which is what I expected. The new setting in Arizona was a nice change and added some nice "fish out of water" story elements. I had tried starting a couple of other books, but left them and went back to JA. She is just a very good writer. Very enjoyable book.

One of the early JP Beaumonts. Have read some of the later ones so nice to get some background story.
