I have been putting off reading this book for quite some time. If I love this series so much, why on EARTH would I put off buying and reading what could be the final book of the HEAVENLY series? Third instalment of the Heavenly Series, Absolution was everything you could have asked for in the last book in the series. Jennifer wraps up the series with an ending that is heartfelt, filling and completely satisfying. Absolution is the perfect end to a fantastic trilogy.

i just finished reading this one.....

This book is a breath of fresh air for me for the past few months i have read gruesome,erotic,horror and lots and lots of vampires Oh i also read about angels but most of them a fallen angels...and yes witg sex in them....

But this...this book this angel is just so pure its a light read for me....

I love Matthias and his heavenly nature....

For Zoe not so much i really cant sort my feelings for her.....Sometimes she's fine with me and sometimes i wanted to hate...more

Absolution. Absolutely full of varieties. Everything was so mixed up. Human emotions crammed with heavenly light. Imagine that.
The book started where "Penitence" (the second book) left off. There were a some things I didn't like about the book but there were also tons of things I loved about it.
First off, the things I loved about it. I liked how Zoe decided to fight off evil and protect her family against it..and in the end, she found herself being honest with them and shared what she saw and ev...more Absolution. The book started where "Penitence" (the second book) left off. There were a some things I didn't like about the book but there were also tons of things I loved about it.
First off, the things I loved about it. I liked how Zoe decided to fight off evil and protect her family against it..and in the end, she found herself being honest with them and shared what she saw and everything, and this, made them closer than ever. I like how Jennifer Laurens wrote in a manner that made you feel what the character is feeling too. Whenever Zoe, Weston, Zoe's mom and dad, Luke felt angry, etc. I also feel that same anger. Dealing with temptations..Anyway, because of that the book taught readers to value your family. How you work out the trust, love and understanding in your family. They all love Abria, their autistic sibling and cared for her no matter what. It also touched the subject of abuse in ones family, and I think it was great Jennifer Laurens did it because the book not only focused on one aspect of the truth of family problems. It's not all arguments, but abuse also happens. Because she mentioned this in her story, it only made the message that we should be thankful of what family we are in. I mean, it did to me, as Zoe felt it too.
Another thing I liked about the book was that it's not all about romantic love, but the book showed all sorts of LOVE. Agape love from God, love for your 'rents, and the romantic love we all love to hear. I liked how the book showed how disgusting evil is that you want to destroy it before it reaches you. It seems like it wants to make you want to see evil that way so that when its lurking around you, you can feel it and this pushes you to control your emotions and decisions. Whew!
What I didn't like was only this: the fact that she loves Matthias, and Weston. Was it possible to love two people? and the ending was unbelievable. But personally, I liked it because it justifies everything. What I think was Matthias came into her life for a reason-to make her realize the importance of life, love more, and also for Matthias' benefit..for his father to realize that good always prevails..that all of this was to lead Matthias to realize some things too... sacrificing your own happiness will save others...

Just like Zoe, I don't like the saying "Everything will work out on itself", but like her, I also find myself saying that now. In this book, many things worked out. Every character wasn't left out lying on the seams. Britt was taken cared off as she's on rehab. There was justice brought on Krissy's life, her parents were on jail and she's under a very caring aunt. Bret was still recuperating with his own soul I guess. Albert was a changed soul-for the good. Luke didn't relapse anymore. Zoe's dad and mom were ok and brought Abria to a conference for better treatment. Weston was a super changed soul too. Zoe changed too. From being a party-goer, popular girl to a good daughter/sister, caring and loving person.

I KNOW I WROTE A LOT, AND IT SEEMS LIKE A REFLECTION PAPER TO YOU. BUT THE BOOK WAS WORTH READING FOR ALL THE LESSONS IT GAVE ME. IN ONE SENTENCE: THINGS HAPPEN FOR A REASON, THOUGH WE UNDERGO TEMPTATIONS AND SEEMING ENDLESS TRIALS, BUT IN THE END WE KNOW ITS WORTH STICKING TO THE GOOD..(:(less)

I honestly don't know where to start with this one. For some reason I always find it really difficult to write reviews for Jennifer's Heavenly series. It made me think as to why I have such trouble expressing my opinion about these books. If you have read my reviews of Heavenly and Penitence, you will see that this series has touched me on a very personal level and I think that is the reason I stumble when I am writing the reviews. it makes me feel like I am exposing my 'soul' so to speak. I can...more I honestly don't know where to start with this one. For some reason I always find it really difficult to write reviews for Jennifer's Heavenly series. It made me think as to why I have such trouble expressing my opinion about these books. If you have read my reviews of Heavenly and Penitence, you will see that this series has touched me on a very personal level and I think that is the reason I stumble when I am writing the reviews. it makes me feel like I am exposing my 'soul' so to speak. I can relate to most of the characters in one way or another:

Mrs Dodd (Zoe's Mother): her internal struggle about putting her autistic daughter first and the effect it has on the other children. If you remember my oldest child is dyspraxic and she tends to be the one that gets the main focus of attention, which does make me worry about the emotional health of the other two girls. It is emotionally and physically draining at times. Adding to the strain on other relationships.

Zoe: following her epiphany in Heavenly, Zoe manages to alter the course of her life for the better. Gain inner strength, faith and contentment most of us strive our whole lives to achieve. Her ability to find forgiveness and emotional restraint against all negative emotions is enviable.

Luke: (Zoe's Brother) tries to escape from the reality of his life by the use of drugs. Again I can relate, not with the drugs but in our family case alcohol is the poison of choice. I have witnessed the struggle and daily temptation that addiction can bring. Seeing Luke overcome his addiction with the strength that Zoe's belief in him provides.

Mr Dodd (Zoe's father) the strain both emotionally, physically and financially all take its toll. The way in which the family bonds are shown as a united entity is inspiring.

Absolution starts at the exact point that Penitence ended plunging the reader into the action from the start. This is a series that you have to read in order to fully appreciate the storyline. Although there is brilliant recapping of pivotal plot points skilfully interwoven into the current plot.

The darker side of life is shown in terrifying vividness with the ghastly black evil spirits so easy to conjure within the imagination and truly frightening. It is easy to picture them at times of intense negative emotions. Zoe's ability to control her emotions and negate negativity is truly awe inspiring. Something that is not easy to do yet is something that more of us should try to achieve (especially me).

The way in which friendship, family and love are portrayed, and their ability to enhance our lives for the better is beautiful. Daily life is not easy, and it is hard to remember to count the blessings we have no matter how small. This series always makes me do that, stand back and be grateful for the little things. No matter how tough things get, you have to have faith. As I have continually stated I am not overtly religious but the whole ethos of having faith in something and positive thinking while avoiding negativity is something I can appreciate.

The characters development throughout the narrative was wonderful, all of them progressed and developed as separate individuals yet remained as a core unit. Even Abria's development was a pleasure to witness. Most surprisingly for me was the way I felt about Weston through this book. Previously I resented him being with Zoe as I felt he was coming between her and Matthias. However, through his development within this story I actually found myself appreciating the relationship he has with Zoe, not perfect being human and all, he really does strife to be like Zoe with his positivity and avoiding the negative.

As much as I wanted to make Mathias human or Zoe an angel so that they could be together. I have to say the ending was PERFECT just ab-sol-utely perfect. I cried my eyes out with big gulping sobs, so even J noticed. I couldn't speak for ages after closing the last page for fear of bursting into yet more tears but it was still PERFECT.

To round off I just want to say that for me this is a comfort read. It gives me hope like a ray of sunshine in my life. It came into my life at a crucial point and for that I will be eternally grateful to Jennifer. If you know me then you will realise I tend to say that 'reading is subjective' quite a lot, in fact I am going to make it my catchphrase [: D] That is how I view the Heavenly series for me they are completely personal, I relate to them from my own experiences, they have helped me come to terms with some things and for that I adore them and Jennifer for writing them and sharing them with me(less)

I really love the Heavenly series by Jennifer, and this book did not let me down. Absolution had everything that I hoped for and more! It is such a story of hope, repentance, forgiveness, and true love. It not only demonstrates a familial love, working through troubles and coming out stronger, but what love in friendship should be like, as well as romantic love.

What a fine way to end a trilogy. I was absolutely blown away by Absolution by Laurens.

Anyone who looks through my shelves, or even just glances at my profile can see I absolutely love angel books. Something about a celestial being that has always been portrayed as Divine and Righteous, falling for a human, is just so... magical and beautiful to me. And written like Laurens graced us with, I could say the trilogy goes down as one of my favorites.

Basically ABSOLUTION (the book) is everything it's wrapped up to be. All the characters in this series, that seek redemption of any kind are on the road to it. Weather they receive it, find their way to it, decide upon it, etc- it's for each person/ entity.

It basically takes off right where PENITENCE (Book #2) leaves off. What is amazing to really see here is how much the main character of Zoe has changed since HEAVENLY (Book #1). She's such a fierce, kick ass character. Someone who is no longer a victim to her own issues and is willing to fight for herself and those she loves.

Zoe has two loves in this book which makes things a bit complicated for her. She loves her guardian Angel Matthias eternally- he's the one for her, her soul mate. But he's also an Angel who lives and dwells in the Heavens. However, it is Matthias' prophecy that they will be "together one day." He's known this since the day he met Zoe.

Zoe also loves mortal Westin. She loves him enough to be with him on Earth. He's a loving, warm, comforting presence for her. He's a safe companion for her, as Matthias has told her.

So what will happen? Who will she end up with, how will it go down?

She's also being hunted by Matthias' father Albet who is evil and will stop at nothing to bring down Matthias and will use Zoe to do so. But Zoe is stronger now and is learning how to defend herself against evil forces. However, Matthias is not happy at all that Zoe is in the middle and would almost rather sacrifice himself to keep her safe.

The ending of this novel is quite different than how most YA paranormal romance novels I've read end. Or at least if it ended this way, there would be another book to keep it going. It's not a cliffhanger, but it's got the effect of the bittersweet reality we live in. The reality I have lived in for a while now.

I thoroughly enjoyed this series. And although it was a bit juvenile at times and maybe a bit preachy as well, the entire story and point of it as a whole was enjoyable and had something to say and meant something. I very much recommend it!(less)

Can you say, "HECK YES!"? Oh it was just so incredible! I loved the way the relationship between Zoe and Weston grew, and developed. That was such an amazing addition to the story, and how Weston knows that he can protect Zoe. If you take away his wanting to fulfill his inner desires, he is a very honorable man. But then he is still honorable when it comes to that his desires are not entirely met. I love the connection Zoe has with her family, and how she strives to make her family a happy one....more

As I said in my review of Penitence, I am really not a fan of trilogies. I feel that often one pretty good book is stretched into 3 books with dissatisfying consequences. While I did like this book more than the middle book, Penitence, I still did not like it as well as the first book, Heavenly. I’m now a few chapters in. It starts just where Penitence left off, on the day of Brady’s funeral. Zoe and Chase are on their way to Krissy’s house, to talk to Krissy who seemed upset about something. As you may recall from Penitence, Krissy’s father appears to be one evil man, if judged by the many black spirits that constantly encircle his persona. I r...more When I first started this series with Heavenly I fell in love with this series as much as Zoe fell in love with Matthias. I waited and waited and read Penitence, then I waited and waited some more and read Absolution. The first thing I can say about Absolution is that I have never cried over a book a few days later just THINKING about the book, until I finished Absolution. I can also say that the Heavenly series is the only one that I know EVERYONE I suggest it too will LOVE it the way I do. I read this book the day I got it and ever since then every time I even THINK about it, I want to burst into tears and read it all over again. It was one of the best books I have ever read. The love between Zoe and Matthias is the most pure, most holy, most beautiful love story I have ever read, and will read. I don't think that any story can top the story of Matthias and Zoe. I believe that is why it was so hard to read the end of it and to write what I thought of it. In the start of Absolution you know that Albert, Matthias' father, Albert, is still trying to capture both Zoe and Matthias' soul, even though Matthias is his own son. You know that Weston is in love with Zoe and Zoe loves Weston, but she also loves Matthias. You also know that Zoe has told her brother and Weston about Matthias and while her brother Luke can handle it, and can even see him, Weston cannot see him but he knows that Zoe is in love with him and he doesn't like it. He wants Zoe for himself, this makes him susceptible to Albert and Weston's old, now dead, best friend Brady, and allows them to try to make him turn on Zoe and try to make her do things she doesn't want to do. This is just the beginning of one of the greatest books I have ever read. This story goes on with ups and downs and it makes you a little bit crazy with each passing page because you know that there will be a point where Zoe has to make a choice. She has to choose between Heaven and Earth. She has to choose between the angel who she loves, and the mortal who loves her. She loves both Matthias and Weston, but she can't have both of them, at least not at once. Then you have Albert, who is bent on stealing Matthias' soul and will use Zoe to get it. Albert uses everything he can to get Zoe, like telling her bits and pieces about Matthias' past, whether they are true or not. But in Absolution Zoe will face an even harder challenge. She has to face letting go of the one she loves, but the true question that you have all the while reading this book is...who will it be?? Will it be Matthias, the guardian angel who Zoe loves so deep she feels it in her soul?? Or will it be Weston, the mortal, who accepts that Zoe sees both good and bad spirits and still loves her for all her imperfections?? All I can say is that no matter who chooses to keep, and who she chooses to let go...it will be a heartbreaking decision either way and it will keep you on edge from beginning to end. It will also keep you crying your eyes out until you are blue in the face and sick of being sad over it, since the ending is still happy in it's own way. This book deserves MORE then just five stars, and if I could stand crying every time I would read it over and over because it is just the most perfect love story I have ever read.(less)

I drew this book out for weeks, because I just didn't want this story to end. It was difficult, and once I got about halfway through, I could no longer put it off. I had to finish it in one sitting. Loved it.

We get more of Weston, which I absolutely love! He's a dream. Honestly, I think I've said this before, but I don't think Zoe deserves him. Absolution takes place right after Brady's funeral. Zoe is still being haunted by Albert and he is doing everything he can to ruin her life by attacking her family with his evil pressence. The slightest argument gets blown up into a frenzy of emotions and he will not settle on just her family but everyone who is close to her just to get Matthias' soul.

Nerves are worn thin and trying to get back into the swing of things is becoming very difficult. Krissy is filled with guilt over her disaster of a party and with her dad a raging maniac threatening everyone he can think of to find his daughter after she ran away things become a bit complicated. Luke finds her hitchiking and becomes surprisingly close to her in order to comfort her, finding out truths about her life that make Zoe and Luke feel horrible and trying to do anything they can to find a way to help her. Zoe knows there is something wrong with Krissy's father because of the swarm of black spirits latched on to him.

Albert's attempt to destroy her family has put a strain on Zoe and because of him she is forced to tell her parents the truth about everything, from her 'near death' experience and about Matthias. Albert's influence on everyone has made Zoe's life very stressful and it doesn't help matters when Brady's influence is focused on Weston. His short fuse makes it even more difficult for Weston to keep his cool and when he turns his aggression on Zoe, she is pushed into a situation where she must keep Weston calm and explain to him that he feels this way because of Brady wrapping his evil tendrils around him. It becomes easier for Weston to handle the idea of his former best friend pushing him to the edge of darkness when Matthias finally reveals himself to Weston.

The ending of Absolution is Ab-So-Lute-Ly Fantastic! An unexpected outcome involving Albert makes your heart swell with joy and the heartbreakingly beautiful ending makes you never want it to end. But life goes on as Zoe realizes and Matthias becomes more important to the world then she can even imagine.

Jennifer Laurens' Heavenly series is a MUST READ, Absolution is a great conclusion to this trilogy and I can only hope to read more in the future but if this is truely the end I am happy :) Thanks to Jennifer for creating such a wonderful and heart-warming series and for being such a great writer AND friend.

I read this book in a day. I started it early afternoon, had to stop so I could go and have a social life (even though all I wanted to do was read the book) and then started again at midnight when I came home! I finished it at 4am. I was only supposed to read until 2am but then I kept making deals with myself – ok 2 30am, 3am and that’s final, oh alright 3 30am then suddenly it was 4am! Jennifer managed to do what Claudia Gray did in Hourglass which was to write something so compelling at the end of each chapter that just MADE me have to read on. When I finished reading the last book, Penitence, I predicted that there were going to be some major tears for this book and...I was right. Tears were STREAMING down my face and unfortunately I was still wearing mascara. NON WATERPROOF. When I caught a look at myself in the mirror I looked a complete mess! But it was sooooo worth it.

Absolution literally picks up where Penitence leaves off. Krissy is having a tough time at home after Brady’s funeral and finds solace in an unlikely hero. Luke is still battling his own demons and Britt is on the brink of destroying herself. Weston doesn’t know whether he can handle everything that’s going on with him and Zoe, especially now he knows her secret. And what will he do when he finds out about Matthias? Matthias is trying to stand back a little but is still there when Zoe is in dire need which is more and more frequent as Albert is intent on tearing Zoe’s family apart so that she will give into his desire for her soul. OH. MY. GOODNESS. people. The final book in the Heavenly series is definitely the darker of the three, there’s a lot of tension coming from all angles and Zoe is bang smack in the middle of everything.

I think I love each and every one of the characters in this series. Zoe has such a mature and distinctive voice, she’s definitely grown over the three books and I’ve enjoyed sharing the journey with her. Like Zoe, I’m IN LOVE with both Weston and Matthias, I mean how can a girl possibly choose between them?!?!? I also hold a special little place in my heart for Luke, possibly because I’ve always wanted a little brother and I want to save him from himself.

I like the fact that in this book, we find out a lot more about Krissy, even if her back story is less than ideal. And Chase remains one of my favourite minor characters. I love the fact that Zoe has never ditched their regular Starbucks outings just because she has a boyfriend, proving that just because you’re in a relationship, it doesn’t mean you have to ditch your friends.

Abria is a little sweetheart and has taught us a lot more about autism and what it’s like to live with a child who has the condition. It can he embarrassing, heartbreaking, tiring but also rewarding and a relationship full of love.

Overall, this was an excellent ending to one of the best series’ I’ve ever read and enjoyed. I was definitely sad for it to end and will miss Matthias more than I thought I would. I would love to see a spin off series or short story involving all the same characters. Ideally of course, another book would be good but I’m not sure that’s going to happen. I may just have to seek out or even write some fan fiction just so I can get my Matthias fix!

Whilst there is a sense of resolve to the story and absolution is definitely a fitting title, it is ever so slightly deceiving because not everything is absolute ;) If you don’t know what I’m going on about, you will understand when you’ve read the book. If I had a rating system, this would get five stars out of five and even more, if possible. Absolution is a compelling read that will take your breath away and I can’t recommend it highly enough.(less)

This was so sad. I don´t remember being so closely involved with any fictional character as much as I was with Zoe. I felt with her, cried with her .. it was such a pain and well, it´s hard for me to put my emotions here. Everything was painfully real. Of course that end would be realistic, too. I was honestly shocked. Zoe was standing in this final scene and I was standing with her, shocked, disable to breathe or move.

Yeah, the book was ok but I absolutely hated the ending. Zoe is ab-so-lute-ly in love with Matthias and he just says goodbye? What the heck?! I never really cared for Weston and was hoping to have him gone by the end...not the other way around. And Britt? That part was left hanging, too. It just seemed like there was a bandaid put on everything as to make it all better. If I'd have known the ending to the trilogy was this, I don't think I would have picked up the series.

Shelves: best-sagas

Okay, so I've been reading this book for the past 5 hours without stopping because I just couldn't, I had this need to know how the finale would be. I must said that it dissapointed me a little bit because I wanted Zoe and Matthias to end up together but I guess not every book has a happy ending. These series were ab-so-lute-ly amazing, it tells you the story of a girl who goes from crazy/wild to protective and careful. I totally recommend you to read these series!

Shelves: angels

This for was fantasstic from the start! The characters were well developed! Weston ,Zoe and Matthias were just awesome. THis was the first series for me were love triangle were involved and I loved it.
Abria was the characteer I loved the most! scenes she had with Matthias and zoe was cuteeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!! THe fan of good and bad concept, gaurdian angels will just love this book!

What a wonderful ending to a great trilogy! I finished reading this book while on a quick road trip and I couldn't put it down. My husband kept complaining because I was ignoring him, but I so completely engrossed in this book that I couldn't even respond much to him. I was so in love with Mattias through the entire storyline, but by the middle of this book I was also rooting for Weston.
