I fell in love with a story by Eileen Wilks that I read in the anthology, Cravings, featuring Laurell K. Hamilton and others. That story, "Only Human," was a prequel to this World of the Lupi series. So I grabbed up Tempting Danger quite eagerly and loved it, too.

I know it's mean, but this book was a L.K. Hamilton wannabee. I guess there are a lot of those these days. The heroine is a detective with psychic abilities. Her love interest is a good looking werewolf who is also the main murder suspect in the case she's pursuing. The writing was just okay; these books, amongst other things, are supposed to be funny, and Wilkes...isn't. This author runs warm and luke-warm. Sometimes her writing is evocative. Other times she leaves out all the details that would make her story great rather than so-so. I put the book down some months ago and wasn't inspired to pick it back up until I misplaced the novel I was tied up with and it was the closest thing to my bedside table. I finished it when I couldn't sleep tonight and was ... disappointed. The makings of a good story are there, but she doesn't DO anything with them.

I'm not a huge werewolf fan, and this heroine annoyed me, so I didn't read the other books in the series. If you love werewolves, and shapeshifters in general, then you might want to give this a try anyway.

He's a playboy prince of werewolves and the prime suspect of a murder investigation. She's the "sensitive" cop who's investigating the murder and his "chosen". They fight crime.

Slow starting, but builds up once you get past the first few chapters. Really like the setting, reminds me a bit of Patricia Briggs and Kelley Armstrong.
