One of the first rules of writing is to write about what you know. The author has worked as a Hollywood journalist for years, interviewing the hottest teen idols in the business. What was so enjoyable about the series (okay, I only read #5 and #6) is that Calonita creates likeable protagonists, likeable antagonists, and likeable support characters. It is also a clean read, worthy of Disney Channel's ratings. Rather than giving a lot of fluff I can pick up in any gossip magazine, Calonita gives t More...

I have had such a good time reading about Kaitlin and her adventures in Hollywood and on Broadway in this series. She has been through a lot - starring on an extremely popular TV series, dealing with the egos of other actresses, learning how to stay out of trouble off-stage, having her series canceled, keeping a long distance relationship with her boyfriend – A LOT.
In this final book of the series, things are going great for Kaitlin. Her new Hollywood show is a hit, she is friends with Sky (her More...

I was kind of disappointed in this book. The whole series was great--I really enjoyed Kaitlin's life, but this entire book was a disappointment to the rest of the series to me. I really liked the whole plot before she went into the alternate universe. It was really boring, and constantly I would check to see how many pages were left of it. I feel like it shouldn't have taken as long as it did. Maybe it should have been a chapter, but not a good chunk of the book. I would have enjoyed it more if More...

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!
There's No Place Like Home, the last book of the series, is a book about life evaluation in Hollywood. Kaitlin Burke, a star with everything she could ever want, feels like her life is to much. Her mother only cares about work, the paparazzi are rude and impossible, and she's overbooked with having to star in two films and a TV show. When she gets in a car crash she wakes up in a different place or dimension. She's actually not a movie star, she doesn't have a boyfriend, her More...

"There's No Place Like Home" is about Kaitlyn Burke, a teen that's famous for acting and starring on Broadway, and how her life would be like if she wasn't famous. After Kaitlyn and her boyfriend Austin drive off in an SUV on a paparazzi chase, the driver goes into the wrong lane and a huge accident has happened. After the accident, Kaitlyn goes into a dream where she was never famous and none of her old friends know who she is. Kaitlyn has to figure out how to tell people that she really is fa More...

So, I have finally read the conclusion of the Secrets Of My hollywood Life series. I'd give this novel a 3.5 if that were possible, but I rounded up to 4.0 even, since we can't use halves. I would recommend this to the readers of the rest of the series, seeing that it provides closure.
SUMMERY (NO SPOILERS)So, Kaitlyn Burke is back in her final debut. She's got the life she's always dreamed of, producers knocking down her door, the best boyfriend in the world, and she's a Paparazzi Princess once More...

This book was fantastic. Kaitlin unsure of what to do: continue on with her rising career or take time off to go to collage. Her mother who is over loading her with jobs and movie insists Katy to do two movies during hiatus. On her 18th birthday which is the day Kaitlin takes her driving test, she wakes up to find her mom arguing with her assistant Nadine and her team. She finds out that her mother called paparazzi to come watch her driving test, which made Kaitlin and everyone else really mad. More...

The final installment of Secrets of My Hollywood Life, one of my favorite light, chick lit series. I'm sad to see the books come to an end, although I'm excited to see what Jen Calonita has in store for us next.
That being said, There's No Place Like Home was not my favorite book in the series. I didn't dislike it, but it wasn't what I wanted out of the final book either.

THERE'S NO PLACE ILKE HOME by Jen Calonita was a funny book and a good ending to the Secrets of My Hollywood Life series. My favorite part of the book was when Kaitlin had a whole dream sequence. Her life was completely different. She was a "normal girl."
During the dream sequence in the book, Kailin realized how important people were in her life. She managed to change Liz's snobby attitude, help Austin rise up against Ava, his mean girlfriend, and find Nadine and talk to her. By doing this, Kai More...

Although it's not as good as some of the other books in the series (the 5th one is my favorite!) it wraps the series up nicely. Kaitlin is on her own tv show with Skye, called Small Fries, but her mom is controlling everything and overbooking her (she wants her to do two movies during the hiatus!). She also has to decide if she wants to go to college (USC) or not. On her 18th birthday she gets into a car crash and enters a Wizard of Oz like dream where she's in a different "dimension" with an al More...

I must say, I didn't see that plotline coming at all.
Which may be why I went from "like" to "really like"-- the series had gotten so predictable that I wondered which way Calonita would choose to go for this final book, and it was really, really good. I think that anyone (especially teenage girls) who harbor the notion of becoming an actress should read this series as a sort of primer for what they're getting themselves into.
It's been neat to chart how both Kaitlin's story and Calonita's writing More...

NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The series is OVER!!!!!!!! *Cries* Just a few years ago I started actually finishing series and it is always really sad.
I love 'The Secrets of My Hollywood Life' series (even though they had a tedency to be repetitive.) It's really fun and light, this one was probably my favorite next to the first one. I loved it that Katilin stopped being such a push over and so indecicive. It was nice to see her grow and change. The writing was good not fantastic More...

Kaitlin's just starting over in Hollywood with a new TV show - Small Fries. It has the potential to become HUGE. With Sky as her co-star again, things are looking better than ever.
Then her mom starts overbooking her schedule. With Broadway under her belt and another hit TV series, Kaitlin has her pick of movies during the show production's hiatus. She has the choice between working with Spielberg or Eastwood. Her mom wants her to choose both, and s More...

The ending was amazing. (view spoiler) The plot was a little slow, and there were way too many Wizard of Oz references (that's why I took off a star). Everything else was good, though, including the LAVA integration. Overall, it's a cute book but not something to choose over, say, A Wrinkle in Time. More...

I became wrapped up in these books when I was a bit younger and, although they're quite below my reading level now, I cannot get over them! The story is so fun and this last book in the series brings a completely unexpected twist. Jen Calonita is so knowledgeable about Hollywood life and she makes you feel like you are there living the life with Kaitlin Burke. I am completely in love with the characters and am so sad I won't get to read about them anymore!

This series was one of my faves. The ending was slightly corny, but the whole series had me on my seat. It was such an amazing series. It showed truly what it's like to be a celebrity and how most of them feel. This shows they're not all plastic bimbos with no souls. I only wish that Kaitlin Burke was real. Along with Austin so I could drool all over him. Someone PLEASE make a movie out of this-but don't ruin it.

i love the ending,, but I don't the story...it just doesnt makes sense....how kaitlin to be on that world in the first place and she totally realized it's not her world but whining about it...
I love Ms. Calonita writing style,so much...normally I really hated it if a book with first person character talk too much about clothes, but Ms. Calonita make it that part good and not awkward at all...

The fact that this book was set in an 'alterverse' for most of it kind of upset me. I get it was because Kaitlin needed to go through it or whatever but it bugged me all the same. I loved the end and I'm glad there was an '8 months later' epilogue. It gave more closure than if the book would have ended with chapter twenty. I just wish this wasn't the end of the series.

This book was so amazing! I LOVED it. I flew through it in a matter of days. Its everything I love: Hollywood, adventure, and supernatural things that happen to people but made in the most realistic way possible. I really liked this book. I thought the character development for Austin was incredible and you will see why. Amazing book! Jen Calonita never let's me down!

So this is the last book in the Secrets series & I loved it. I have been reading this series from the moment it came out. I think the series is a lot of fun, but also a good message. The series was about Kaitlin growing and learning about herself. It was a coming of age series. This book did not disappoint because there were celebrity antics, crazy events, and of course Austin. I thought the series ended well with this book because Kaitlin figured out what she wanted in her life & finall More...

I've read all 6 books in the Secrets of My Hollywood Life YA series. And I've enjoyed them.
The series focuses on Kaitlin Burke and her life as a teenage tv star in Hollywood.
I really have enjoyed getting to know Kaitlin, her brother Matty, her boyfriend Austin, her best friend Liz, her sometimes frenemy and co-star Sky and her manager mom (who constantly overbooks her for work).
There's No Place Like Home took a bit of a different turn than the other books. It had the present, then from pages 150 More...

Such a great and hopeful end to Kaitlyn Burke's series. I started really late (book 5 of 6) but I grew so attached to everyone, and Calonita just has the best knowledge of Hollywood (and the best references ever!) A great read that makes me feel so good. I will most definitely read the other books and reread the series someday!

I liked this book and thought that it was a great last book in the series. The only part that I didn't really like was when Kaitlin had the dream about how her life would be if she had never become an actress. I thought that it was kind of confusing. Other than that, I liked that we learned if Kaitlin decided to go to college or not and where Liz and Austin decided to go to college.

I feel like the series could have continued after this book (there was plenty of potential with Kaitlin just starting college - would have been interesting to see how she managed to balance that with her Hollywood career), but I guess it's always best to be left wanting more!

This book was good, not my favourite, but good. The story line was very slow and at the beginning I was totally hooked, but once the middle came it got boring. To be honest I was a little confused in the book. It was still a good book.

To tell you the truth, this was probably the least favorite book in the series. Seriously, she was in A DREAM for half the book. Yes, that changed the way she looked at things, but seriously, HALF OF IT WAS FAKE!!!!!!!

THE LAST BOOK! so sad to see it end, but an amazing ending. this book is filled with surprises, you never know what will happen next. th best way to end the series, i wish there were more, but a great series.
