In case you're wondering, yes, I am thoroughly ashamed.
How can I possibly give this book more stars than Madame Bovary? It's disgusting. It's tragic. Worst of all, it doesn't even makes sense. I don't LIKE Historical Romance!

C'mon, I DARE you to find something dignifying about this.
I don't like TIME TRAVEL Historical Romance! I don't like modern woman meets warrior Highlander Hunk. First of all, it's been done - so many times. Never as well as Outlander, in my opinion. And I swear, if life imit...more

Circenn and Lisa's story - Circenn is a half-human, half-fae man living in the 14th century. He is also immortal thanks to Adam Black slipping the magic Fae liquid that makes humans immortal into his drink when he was in his 30's. Circenn is quite the broody Brud (sorry couldn't resist). He placed a curse on a flask that causes the flask to come back to him. He doesn't realize that his curse will also bring back whoever touches the flask....Enter Lisa, who is working her night time shift in a mu...more

Now I understand why "everyone" loves this series! :)
Circenn Brodie is one of the most "delicious" heroes I've ever met. Truly tall, dark & handsome! The scene where Lisa finds him sleeping at her bedroom door had me melting into a puddle of love. It reminded me of a similar scene from Kinley MacGregor's Born in Sin and, come to think of it, Circenn's nickname was practically identical to MacGregor's hero's name in the same book, but I didn't mind it at all. I'm in love with Circenn and that...more

If a cursed flask holding an immortal elixir is what it takes to travel back in time to find a Highlander hottie like Circenn, then I’m getting my butt on the next train to the museum!

The Highlander’s Touch is the third book in Karen Marie Moning’s Highlander series and once again we’re back with a heavy time travel influence. But this time, whether because I’m getting used to it or perhaps it was better written, the time travel didn’t bother me as much as it did in Beyond the Highland Mist and other time travel books I’ve read. I really do hope it’s just me becoming more comfortable with the theme, because it seems I’m missing out on a lot of great Highlander tales.

Oh how I loved these characters! Lisa is an independent, but very curious, 21st century woman. While at work cleaning the museum, she finds a mysterious old box with a flask inside. She picks it up and is immediately transported to 9th century Scotland. The flask had a spell on it. It turns out that it is one of several sacred fairy artifacts which were in the protective custody of Circenn Brodie. Only the flask had been lost. He had put the spell on it which returned it to him once it was touch...more
Now that's more like it! This turned out to be the classic taken-by-storm-romance I was looking for! This time Ms Moning got it right, time travel and all. Choosing between past family and future family is always a problem in these time-warping stories. (view spoiler)...more
Most of this book is supposively set in the 14th century, but it is positively rife with historical inaccuracies. For instance, most of the action in the second half of the book takes place in Brodie Castle. However, while the land on which Brodie Castle now stands has been associated with the Brodie Clan since the 12th century, the original castle was not built until the late 16th century. That is only one among dozens of historical facts that Karen Marie Moning blithely disregards in her novel...more
I have a like/hate relationship with this series. At first they are very readable, but get so silly so fast. There's a formula, and if you don't like the formula, there's not really much point. Light and airy, even when dealing with heavy topics. A TV show, rather than an epic film, you know what I mean?
The Highlander's Touch was even better than the first two books in the Highlander series.
I loved Circenn Brodie and Lisa Stone!
Circenn completely stole my heart. This tall hunk of a Scottish warrior is everything a girl wants, and then some.
And Lisa... I was so touched by her story. It even made me cry a few times. I really loved Lisa for her strong mind and her 21st century humor that Circenn never seemed to get.
Then there was Eirren, the cheeky little lad... and the good-humored Duncan Douglas...more

I found this to be a wonderful story full of plot surprises and terrific dialogue. I really enjoyed it and can't wait to pick up another of Karen Moning's books. I would highly recommend this story to anyone who just loves romance, I think the love story between Circenn and Lisa is great! I was totally blown away and would go so far as to say that this is the best in the series so far... even though I'm still totally in love with the Hawk.
Yeah baby! I finally got some payout in this series!
After struggling through book 1, and only liking book 2 slightly better, I was pleasantly surprised with 'The Highlander's Touch.'
This is the first book that felt tied to the Fever series, and I loved the interactions with Adam Black (a recurring character in this series that gets his own book in a later installment). I got to hear a little bit about the Hallows and time-sifting, plus there were even some Fae references snuck in.

I give this book a 3.5 star rating... It was a good book, but it felt kind of out of place with the other two. I'm glad to know a bit more about Adam, but there were no fairies in Grimm's book at all. Then, we go back in time from the 1500's to the 1300's? I also thought Moning would mention the loophole in the oath Brodie took in the prologue, that he actually agreed to kill the "man" who carried the flask, not a woman. It would have been a loophole that Adam would have exploited had it been hi...more
The point about time travel that Karen Marie Moning just doesn't seem to get: when you can travel through time, time is not of the essence. As time passes is one timeline, it does not simultaneously pass in another. If you can travel through time, you can pick whatever moment you want to land in. You can visit the 1300s for years and still return to the 2000s on the day you left. Most importantly: if you're in 1314, 2000 is the future and hasn't happened yet. Nothing is happening in 2000 because...more
Third in the Highlander historical paranormal romance series with this story occurring in 1314? The couple focus is on Lisa Stone and Cin Brodie.
My Take
This is one of the good Highlander installments Moning wrote---she's been very uneven in her writing in this series. It always shocks me that she could do so well with her Fever series. In this story, Moning manages to tease us along as to what Adam's true plans are as well as how Cin intends to resolve his dilemma. As for the sense of history. N...more

I don't know, man. I was waffling between 2 and 3 stars the whole time. I was disappointed, and don't you dare give me crap for being disappointed in a book with this title. I get it, ok?!?! I still enjoyed the book and I love that each subsequent book shows KMM's growth as an author. Because really, who would have thought that the author who wrote the first books in this series would be capable of writing something as daunting and proficient as the Fever series? Actually though, each book in th...more
So it continues with Moning’s Highlander series. One thing I really love about this series is that they are all different stories, but they’re also all connected in different way. For instance, we meet Hawk Douglas and Adam Black in Beyond the Highland Mist. Grimm, Hawk’s best friend is the hero in To Tame a Highland Warrior. In The Highlander’s Touch, Adam black returns with a little less mischief and we hear the name Douglas again in a couple of supporting characters. I imagine these two are H...more
OMG! I read this book in two days. I don't think I slept. It was AMAZING. LOVED LOVED LOVED it. I thought it was really well written and just a little bit different.
Totally loved the characters, Lisa and Circenn. And parts of it made me laugh, especially when she simply enjoys what she thinks is a dream at the beginning. I mean you would thoroughly look too, wouldn't you?? I almost cried for her near the end, the cruelty of memory.

This is not a book that makes you think. It won't keep you on the edge of your seat, desperate to find out what happens next. It will however, leave you sitting there with a stupid smile on your face at the end, thinking "how nice for them."

I loved this story. I always partial to people traveling through time for whatever reason, but I love that she ends up seeing him all natural right off the bat. She is like a woman dreaming then… reaching out to touch a muscular Scot. Yummy!
So basically Lisa touches this flask that Circenn (Cin pronounced Sin) cursed when he lost it. So the moment she touched it, it brought her back in time to him. Now she’s stuck in a beautiful country with a gorgeous man who won’t let her leave. Poor Lisa.

Dear God this was horrible! I expected cheesy, but not rampant stupidity, giant plot holes, and the mother-of-all cop out endings.
First of all, a 5'10 woman in the 1300's would have been considered a giant, not "above average." Good luck finding clothes that fit and walking through doorways.
Second, did the main character have even two brain cells to rub together? Because you sure can't tell by her actions. Every possible action is done to ensure maximum chaos and misunderstandings. Bonus points...more

Initially, I wasn't sure about this book. I was thrilled (in a horror sort of way) to find Adam Black was back. Circenn Brodie seemed a threatening and worthy hero. But the opening with Lisa seemed to drag on (IMO)... I didn't really care about her yet to know that level of detail. But I recognize that it was necessary Backstory for the rest of the book. It just seemed a bit tedious!

The one reads a bit like Barbie's Magical Medieval Scottish Adventure. Our heroine Lisa is transported back into 1300's Scotland to the home of a clean-freak Scottish nobleman who almost immediately falls in love with her. Their love story was well told, at least from Lisa's perspective, as she doesn't suffer from Instant Love Syndrome, so you at least understand how she comes to love our hero. The love scenes are also pretty hot, which is always a plus in a book with plot issues!

I happen to love the way Karen can write a book that has you so throughly engrossed that you are unaware that there is a world outside the book, at least for a little while. I am also confused that some people find her books and others like them to lack facts and substance. I am not sure if they know that it is fantasy and fantasy doesn't have to be real or even be all that factual. So, to me and many that I have talk it is the consensus fantasy is supposed to be about escape from the real world...more

“He ran a hand over his face and shook his head. "Lass, I have never lied to you. I adore you and there have never been any other women from the future here. And these"- he flung a tampon in the air- "cleaning swabs, I cannot fathom why they upset you so greatly, but I assure you I have never let the maids use them."
Lisa's brow furrowed. No man could be so stupid. "Cleaning Swabs?"
He snatched up a gun and jerked the barrel in her direction, and an unwrapped tampon shot out. It was coated with black from the slow corrosion of the steel. She eyed it for a moment, bent, and plucked it from the floor. "You clean your guns with these?"
He lowered the gun. "Is that not the purpose for which they were designed? I vow I could not conceive of another."
Didn't you read the box?"
There were too many words I didn't understand!”
