It actually shocked me that I haven't really reviewed any book from my favorite author. Yes, Sidney Sheldon is my favorite author. Heard that right. Quite surprising for a 14 year old who's fond of reading Young Adult fiction, eh?

This book was actually gripping. Everytime I let go of it, it makes me wanna cradle it in my arms and murmur, "I'm sorry for putting you down. Let me continue reading you." So this story was mainly about a female doctor who had a patient who seemingly hates her. And thi...more

“You have two choices. you can keep running and hiding and blaming the world for your problems, or you can stand up for yourself and decide to be somebody important.” —Sidney Sheldon, Nothing Lasts Forever

Once again, I owe my life to Sidney Sheldon (over-reacting mode).
I can’t find enough words to say because it would be too repetitive. I have read twelve (12) of his outstanding novels and this is by far, his BEST! I cannot recommend it highly enough. It’s too breathtaking! I cried when I finish...more

If I had to choose one of his books to call my utmost favorite I would have to say this one.

Again and again he did. He delivered a fast paced keep you on the tip of your toes turning the pages as fast as you can story.

Every single one of the lady doctors in this story captured me and held me in prison locked up in their strengths, heartaches, and abilities.
This story was like no other that he wrote before.

With every page you turned there was so much more going on. The drama, the affairs, the l...more

Three female doctors begin five years in training at Embarcadero County Hospital in San Francisco. The story, set against hospital and courtroom, chronicles their lives together and their struggle against those who are determined to see that they don't succeed.

Dr. Paige Taylor - After she inherited a million dollars from a patient whom she 'helped to die' at their request, the District Attorney charged her with murder.

Dr. Kat Hunter - She vowed never to allow a man to get too close to her again....more

Oh, Lord, I am DONE with this! I don't think I can give it any stars....can't say I liked but can't say I didn't like it either, because it sure was entertaining! If I hadn't had to work, this book would have been finished within 24 hours.

Like I told Bob, I should have left Sheldon in my pre-adolescent childhood, because I never realized just how overly dramatic and "soap opera-ly" he is. The dialogue is horrible and superficial. There is no depth to the story at all. We won't eve...more

This was my first Sidney Sheldon novel and I am pleased to admit that despite my lofty expectations, I was not disappointed. In fact "Nothing Lasts Forever" is a fast paced, thrilling and riveting novel. I found it simply unputdownable and seriously can’t remember the last time I finished a 400 page book in a matter of two days. The way Sidney Sheldon builds suspense, from the very first page which opens right in the middle of a court hearing, where a certain Dr. Paige Taylor is being tried for...more

I've never read any Sidney Sheldon before, but he does a wonderful job of drawing the plot along. Most mysteries are pretty straight forward -- sure there are plot twists, and the mystery may be hard to guess, but the way the story itself is written is pretty straight forward. In this book the author actually switches it up a bit, starting the story with a scene from the court case which leaves you with one possible interpretation of the facts, and you spend the rest of the novel learning whethe...more

The book is fast paced alright but Sheldon didnt fail to let me see whats really going on inside an operating room and how women are treated when they step inside a man's dominated profession (which I dont know if still the same case on today's era). The typical Sheldon finale surely blowed my mind because it was the 'she's-screwed-and-hopeless' scene but again he casted his own magic. Im not trying to be smartsy pantsy on this review but Sheldon did a great job and after reading this novel I ca...more

I absolutely love this book. I know for a fact that Sheldon writes a very tragic ending in some of his novels I read, so much that I was not prepared for the surreal, for the "all's well ends well" feeling I felt after.

Paige Taylor, Kat Turner and Honey Taft were doctors by profession, and the friendship spurted amidst their different personas and the kind of friendship they have is more closely to sisterhood. Each of them may have their own struggles in life, battles yet to endure and problems...more

Typical Sidney Sheldon. Always writing about a heroine in his stories.
However, it's the reason why I loved reading his novels.

Nothing lasts forever is a medical thriller revolving around 3 women, all of whom were capable and dedicated to their professions in a male dominated field. The 3 women faces problems and dilemmas in their own personal lives before they embark on the medical profession as a doctor. Each of them must learn to embrace themselves and learn about the true meaning of saving li...more

This book is about three young medical intern girls who were working in a county hospital in San Fransisco. One of them almost closed the hospital down, one murders a patient and inherits the one million dollars and one got herself murdered. In between this the author has demonstrated the then mental make up of American people that how hard it was for people to "not accept" female doctors and always to treat females as an object of sexual desires.

The book started little slow but picked up pace g...more

This is just my second Sidney Sheldon book after 'Bloodline' and I'm in absolute awe and love with his writing. The story is amazing. Sheldon has been thorough with the study part. In this book you get a peek into the life of doctors. The story revolves around three women doctors. Their struggle surviving in the times when women in the field of medicine were only nurses, their handling of the male dominated workplace and male attention at the Embarcadero County Hospital is inspirational and thei...more

Nothing Lasts Forever, by Sidney Sheldon - 3 stars. A bit too hospital-centered, and too many vignettes, instead of toeing the "beginning - middle - end" line. But, great, emotion-packed ending.

I so love Jason Curtis. I wanna marry him. Paige is brilliant! Honey's a.. jinx? And Kat. Phew! Kat's so stupid. I'm not surprised. All Kats that I know are stupid. Mehehehe~

I think that nothing lasts forever is a splendid book. it was really a 'hard to put down book'. it took me only three days to finish it. Sidney Sheldon really is an amazing author. My second book of his was rage of angels which was also really good and I thought nothing could beat it but when I read nothing lasts forever I think of the greatest book he ever wrote and how gripping it might be. I couldn't believe how mean and selfish Alfred was. I think a lot of people's favourite doctor might hav...more

I read the Vietnamese translation of this book so I can't say much about the writing or composition styles. However this book was a bit of a disappointment to me compared to other novels written by Sidney Sheldon. The plot is not too terribly attracting and predictable. The court trial in the prelude did keep me wonder if Paige Taylor had a change of characters after what she went through in the hospital. Even then, there were few events which would suggest such outcome. A positive thing though...more

Three young doctors at the high-volume public Embarcadero Hospital in San Francisco start their training rooming together, but one is impregnated and murdered, another accused of murdering a patient for his fortune, and a third resigns to be a nurse in Ireland with a possibly HIV infected artist, just as a psychic patient predicts with tarot cards.

Paige Taylor almost quits over cardiac surgeon Barker's constant criticism, and injects insulin when John Cronin, dying of cancer, begs her to stop t...more

I'm a Paralegal for a Medical Malpractice Defense firm, so when I read the short description on this book, I knew I'd probably like it, but I didn't expect to like it as much as I did.

The book started off kind of slow, I thought, but I really liked how it started off and then took a look back to show you how we got where we did. I really liked the flashbacks too for each character and liked how they were all developed. I enjoyed learning about the different patients and seeing how much residnet...more

This was the third book of Sidney Sheldon that I read. In my opinion, Sheldon is not the kind of author who gets better or worse as he writes more books. Each of his books is so unique, and it fascinates me how he comes up with such stories. Also, I would not know because I am not a doctor, but I am sure he did a lot of research to write this book since it was about medicines and medical science. It was like watching a medical drama, but even more than that.
There are three main characters of th...more

This was my first book by Sidney Sheldon and I have since added a few more of his books to my TBR pile! This author was recommended to me by my Dad, who has very similar taste in literature as I do. I have had this book sitting on my shelf for a while, like several others, and I finally took the time to pick it up and open it and boy am very glad I did. Mr. Sheldon's writing style is very easy to read and flows like silk. He gives great picturesque descriptions of his characters and keeps the pa...more

I have read all the books written by Sidney Sheldon, they are one by one page turners with captivating characters, action and suspense until the very end. This book is no exception. He truly is a master story teller!

This book is about three women that arrive as first-year residents in the Embarcadero County Hospital and become roommates:
Dr. Paige is arrested for murder, but she swore it was euthanasia. The inheritance of a million dollar she got from the diseased patient makes that hard to belie...more

I loved this book for all of the wrong reasons. "Nothing Lasts Forever" exhibits all of the sure signs of a Sheldon megahit: cornball dialogue, stereotyped characters, predictable plotting, asinine logic. Nevertheless, these elements are actually what makes this so much fun. The B-movie flair of the proceedings is so irresistible that I'm actually going out on a limb to recommend it.

The plot consists of three new resident female doctors at a county hospital and their wild misadventures. The stor...more

Either Sidney Sheldon was a doctor sometime in his past or he is just too good at making medical procedures sound so real. :)

Seriously, it's hard to fathom how some writers, on the basis of research and interactions with relevant people, enliven their work to such an extent that the reader is convinced of its realism.

Although I had not intended to read a book that dwells a lot on how diseased and terminal patients are treated and operated upon - and hated parts of it replete with anesthetizing,...more

Akhirnya...kembali tergerak baca tulisannya Sidney Sheldon.

Karena menceritakan tentang kehidupan dokter,...more

Was an American writer who won awards in three careers—a Broadway playwright, a Hollywood TV and movie screenwriter, and a best-selling novelist. His TV works spanned a 20-year period during which he created I Dream of Jeannie (1965-70), Hart to Hart (1979-84), and The Patty Duke Show (1963-66), but it was not until after he turned 50 and began writing best-selling novels such as Master of the Gam...more
