I got Second Chance Romance as a freebie from Amazon - apparently they price-matched another retailer. I enjoyed the story of Kip and Mandy, and their second chance at happiness. I almost didn't finish reading the book, though, honestly.

Why? Because of the grammar / lack of editing / lack of proof-reading / call it what you will. There were several to / too errors, missing letters, missing words, punctuation all over the place. Several is an understatement - there were errors at every location o
Completely forgettable. It had the potential to be a really good story, but missed the bar. The grammar was awful, sentences were cut off in mid-thought, spelling errors on one too many pages for me to keep from wanting to scream.
Plot was cute, but I wanted so much more. It seemed like this could be just any two people doing day to day stuff. Nothing stood out.
It wasn't quite "smut" or "erotica" but it seemed like it wanted to be. Threw the story off with the random and not quite finished sex
I got this Kindle book free via Amazon and before I started reading it, I read the reviews for Kindle first and I thought they were harsh. I went into it with an open mind, but I could *not* get into it and eventually didn't finish it.

First of all, the grammatical errors are overwhelming. There is a comment on Kindle about how the book has now been edited, but it's apparently by the worst editor ever as I found an error at least every other page. Typos, words in sentences that didn't belong, dou
This was a great escape over Christmas. As a sucker for romance and especially second chances I found this free download and I am really glad I read it.

The story starts in 1994 when we meet Kip Turner. Maths totally bored Kip but he needed to get a pass in maths or his parents would not let him pursue his love of sport. After requesting "pass out" to the toilet his eye is caught by uninspired, regurgitated essay's stuck on the English notice board, but one catches his eye. "My Future Plans" by M
Okay this one is not perfect. There are various grammar and other typos that even I can point out with my sorry editing skills but come on it's a free book what do you want from her?. However, this had to to be one of the sweetest stories. Kip was the perfect guy who never got over his first love. Mandy on the otherhand was once again the typical insecure annoying female determined to push him away. The difference between Devin and other writers with this type of bitchy character is that she kne ...more
This was an average book but nothing special. This book was kind of boring to tell you the truth. The story plots were lame. Most of the time the story could have been fixed if they just asked each other, "Where is this relationship going?" Instead they skirted around the issue for more than 75% of the book because they were afraid of what the other was going to say. That made the story drag a lot. I expected a lot more from the sex scenes but again those were lacking as well. Not a lot happened ...more
I think this is one of my new favorites. The woman in the story doesn't have the perfect body (not that that matters) but in most books it seems to appear that way. Anyways she was the nerdy girl with no friends and the popular jock fell in love with her. I also loved the way it was told from each person. It is nice to know what each one is thinking about the other. Not just a one sided story. I liked this book so much that I am looking into others from this series.
Nice to read about a character who isn't model sized and drop dead gorgeous win the drop dead gorgeous man. Some grammar and mispelling...but an ok read.
The book seemed really unrealistic.
I was realyl excited to read it because I love the idea of second chances and the book was based in Canada and had to do with hockey.
I felt like the relationship was totally about money (even when he was younger) and about him trying too hard to convince her (but also himself?) that it was okay that she wasn't thin. It's possible to write stories about people from different economic levels and body weights (Eleanor and Park is a great example) but this did no
I think the storyline is a good one. The characters are well developed. There is a warning that the sexual content in the book may not be for everyone.
12 years ago Kip Turner let the girl of his dreams go to pursue his dream of playing hockey. Kip and Mandy were opposites in high school. He was popular and good looking. She was unathletic and shy. Despite their differences they fall in love. A year after high school, Kip is drafted into the NHL. He’s going to a play across the country. Mandy is

It pulled at my heart strings

This book had me from the get go. I literally couldn't put it down until I finished. I laughed and I cried. I jumped for joy and slumped in silence. I loved the two main characters Ms Devin created. I felt so connected and invested in them.

But I must confess, I am finally leaving a review after having read the book like 4 times in the past six months. I really do love it that much

Facebook has a lot to answer for!

I enjoyed this book - it was light hearted and easy to read. Pretty much an 'in between' book. A book you read when you need a break from your ever increasing TBR pile!

The premise of this book is very similar to some of the others in this genre. It is generally about a boy and girl from the past, they are no longer together. Girl has a baby (not his) and then after some Facebook stalking boy find girl, girl response and a relationship builds from there. The idea

It took a few pages to get into the flow of this one, but surprisingly it proved really quite good .... even eliciting a few tears at the end.

The "hero" for the want of a better word, Kip, annoyed me a bit sometimes with his gently gently approach - I did think a couple of times "man up", but then again maybe that is why the lovely Mandy loved him so, setting aside his killer body and bucket loads of money that he made as a NHL player!

A few typographical and grammar errors, but then again it is

I'm a sucker for sports romances to begin with, but this story was amazing. I felt really connected to the characters and to me, that makes a great book. This book had drama between the characters, but it wasn't overwhelming nor did it take over the whole story. There is a great balance of everything in the story that makes a great romance book. It really pulled at my heart and got my emotions at times.

Although it was a little slow getting started, Mandy and Kip were once lovers and they both had strong feelings still for each other. She was a single parent who wanted to rekindle their love for each other. Kip liked her son Colton too. So all would work out in the end
d. Just read it and see
kip and mandy met in high school. kip noticed mandy when he read a "what i want to be when i grow up" report by mandy. after that, they become friends, and then fall in love. they even move in together when they go to college. then kip has an opportunity to play in the nhl, and mandy wants to finish her schooling to become the teacher that she has always dreamed of being. 12 years later, they connect again, and discover that they are both living in alberta, mere hours from each other.

While this was a really sweet idea for a book it fell short for me.
The characters were really loveable and i could connect with them but some parts of the books were so rushed. Lack of editing and grammar nearly stopped me from finishing the book.
Im not sure if i will read the other books in the serie if they are all like this.

I love this book it is a great read.

This book makes you believe that big girls can have the dreams just like everyone else. l love the beautiful story and would recommend it to my friends such a wonderful heartfelt story. Great job can't wait to read more by this author.

I got this book as a freebie on so I thought, why not try it? The cover looks kind of silly but I guess you don't need to spend much time on a cover if you're book is only available as an ebook. The thing I don't understand about this book, is why it has so many spelling errors and missing words, or words in places where they shouldn't be. It makes me wonder if she let anyone proofread it before it got published. For me, it was kind of di
Frankly, grammar errors here and there. Also, I hadn't much liked this particular storyboard to begin with. Something about high school sweethearts concept just has a natural way of disagreeing with me. This concept, rash decisions and maturity completely undeveloped which to determine whether truly "loving" another human being.

Critiquing this particular ebook: Second Chance Romance from another's impersonal view point. This ebook engaged charm in history lovers from get go. Not being able to k
Would not recommend

I definitely would not recommend this book, besides the terrible grammar. It was very boring. It did not keep my attention.
It was ok nothing spectacular. The characters were pretty flat and the plot could have been developed better. But overall it was an enjoyable easy read.
I downloaded this free from Amazon, and even after reading some bad reviews I thought I would give the book a chance.

The story itself was not bad, but this book had so many problems with typos and incomplete sentences that there were times when it was hard to understand what the sentence meant.

It would be really nice if the author would go back and work on the book, fixing the many errors that plagued an otherwise good story. I enjoyed the story enough to finish the books, but without improvem
Such a great book that tells the tale of love lost and then found. Mandy meets Kip in high school and they fall in love. She is shy and a little overweight while Kip is the popular hockey player who could have any girl he wants. He wants Mandy and they date for a while. Then she lets him go to follow his dream while she tries to move on with her life. Through the pages of Facebook, they reconnect and discover they're living only an hour away from each other. They fall in love with each other all ...more

I thought that the book was the best book I ever read in my whole intire itty bitty life. It was more about romance I say this because kit wanted his love of his life to go back with him after 12 years. But also I tought that it was sad in away because Mandy had to live all these years being a single mother and had to handle a maniac that after years the dad of his son hasn't even visit them and now he wants to take the kid away from her. And in on the other hand she has to make a decion to weth ...more

It was actually a 3.5
I mean...the plot was really good but the way the author wrote it out kind of dragged it not in the way that would be appealing all throughout and fun and exciting.
And the moments between kip and Mandy were sweet but not really my taste..
I like fun and funky and it was too..old fashioned maybe for me.
Maybe it was good for other people but I just got bored in a lot of parts. I did like the sexy moments and when Mandy or kip were nervous around each other or turned on and want

I have this book 3 stars because of the wonderful storyline. Who isn't a sucker for 2nd chances. If you can ignore all the grammar errors and some of the confusing transitions, it is a great book. I loved the fact that the main male character was perfect in every visual way possible and the woman was not. It made it not so much a fantasy and i loved how she had insecurities about her weight as most women do. As I said, a great read if you can get past the fact that this book did not see an edito ...more
I liked the story. I wasn't really satisfied with a main character of a book (Kip), but overall all the characters were developed good and well.
You can find a lot of grammar errors in a book, but if you just flow to it, you will like it. The story wasn't cliché like every other romance novel which makes you to spend time and read it.
Overall I really enjoyed the reading but I believe that the writer has some potentials and has to develop her potentials and also avoid grammar errors.
