I really liked this book. It seems that a lot of people don’t like the addition of the Dream Hunters to the Dark Hunter series, but I found the concept an intriguing one - a race that is cursed to feel no emotions and therefore have to syphon them off humans while they dream. It puts a whole new spin on Sherrilyn Kenyon’s world, and how everything is interwoven.

In this story we meet Dream Hunter, Arik. He is infatuated with Megeara/Geary, whose (very HOT) dreams he has been sharing, so hot that...more

Yeah, you guessed it. I did not like this! AT ALL!!!

So here are my feelings in a few simple images:

Yups, that’s about it! Not my kind of guy, boring story and stupid heroine!!! Gah!!! I just read this hoping that I wouldn’t miss anything related to Ash and Nick and I got just a small slice towards the end. It didn’t even make such a big difference o.O Huge disappointment…

This is Book 1 in the "Dream-Hunter" series. It tells the story of Arik, a Dream-Hunter who becomes enchanted with Geary, a woman whose dreams he has inhabited for a few months. Dream-Hunters have no emotions of their own, so Arik makes a deal with the god Hades to become human for two weeks to enjoy a human relationship with Geary. Of course he is overwhelmed by all the emotions he feels as a human and falls in love with Geary.

No spoilers here, because a lot happens on their road to happiness....more

This book fits in the Dark-Hunter series but also begins the Dream-Hunter series, about beings who find their way through humans' dreams. They are not meant to have feelings of their own but one Dream-Hunter, Arikos, falls for a woman whose dreams he invades and makes a deal with Hades to become human for two weeks to spend time with her in real life.

Megeara is be part of a team searching for the lost city of Atlantis, and she manages to stumble quite close to the actual site. Close enough to ma...more

The first in the Dream-Hunters series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. A fun take from her Dark Hunter series. The author gives us a more information about the lost city Atlantis and mythology that really helped me in uncovering more information from the Dark Hunter series.

Since I tend to dream solutions to problems I really enjoyed the idea of a dream hunger who lives in your dreams.

What fun to meet a dream god who's never felt emotions or lived as a human but trades everything when he makes a deal with...more

The Dream Hunter was a book that I got completely sucked into by page one. It takes the Dark Hunter series in a different direction, and shines the spotlight on yet another group of gods in the pantheon of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter universe. I loved how SK integrated the dream world into this book. Dreams are so complex and so fantastical, how could they not be an excellent backdrop for an epic war between good and evil? SK gets that the Greek myths have characters that are not always compl...more

Finished The Dream-Hunter (Dream Hunter Series Book 1) in one sitting and I must say, I liked it! I also have to say, despite said liking, SK has a major problem in this book.

Plotting.

Dream Hunter has some of the laziest plotting I've ever seen. A couple of times I was scratching my head thinking, "Now wait a minute, didn't she just say ...?"

It was as if no one read, or edited, this book before it went to print! SK made rules in her world then promptly ignored them and at other points, she conve...more

This installment, while not technically a Dark Hunter, is an awesome addition to the series. We are introduced to the Dream Hunters – namely our hero Arik, who is yummy with a capital Y. Dream Hunters are sleep gods that have been cursed by Zeus to feel no emotions. The only way that they can feel anything is through the dreams of the people they monitor and help with their sleep. Is it any wonder then that seeking out people with vivid dr...more

I LOVE THIS STORY! But i love everything Sherrilyn Kenyon writes. Megeara Saatsakis is a strong hurt woman determined to have her life turn out different then the rest of her family. Arikos is a Dream Hunter who protects people in their dreams where just so happens to be the only place he can feel anything at all due to a curse. Once Arik comes upon Geary in her dreams, he cant let her go, so he makes a deal with Hades and becomes human so he can be with her. Once he's human and after Geary find...more

Like most of Kenyon's other pieces of writing, I got sucked in and was finished in a couple of days. However, when finished I just could not bring myself to like the book as well as her others. And I even gave myself overnight to think about it and see if my opinion changed or not.

My biggest complaint had to be against the two main characters. While most of Kenyon's characters are well developed, it felt like Geary and Arik's was rushed, leaving me with a very one dimensional view of them. Geary...more

Being the first in the Dream Hunter series I expected it to be more captivating. Honestly the story started off a bit boring for me as Arik blindly made his bargain with Hades just to experience Geary in the human realm. Geary was really uptight and this was a bit frustrating seeing as Arik went through so much in the first place. However, it turned out well in the end as they made it out of the underworld in once piece.
The best thing about this book was the insight to the other characters: 1....more

I hesitated to write a review for this book because though I enjoyed some parts, I found the majority of the book slow and filled with repetitive information that fans of the Dark Hunter series would already know. Arik is a likable hero because he's a rule breaking bad ass that can fight. He is also willing to trade his life for the woman he loves. Arik was lost in the real world and needed guidance from his brother Solin in wooing Geary. Solin is a very interesting character with a dark past th...more

It's interesting to get more insight into the Dream-Hunters, explore background characters and stories, and get some foreshadowing of things we've already seen and will see later in the series. I don't love Geary and Arik as much as some other characters in the series, but it was still an engrossing story. Sherrilyn Kenyon excels at believable (though supernatural) characters and consistency. I don't know how she made a 340 page book feel short, but she did. Maybe it's because the story is sprea...more

Arikos is a Dream Hunter, an Oneroi. A race of beings that police and aid the dreams of humans though labour under a terrible curse that has robbed them of all their emotions. But Arikos is also a Skotos – who enters the vibrant dreams of humans and drains of excess emotions through sexy dreams. Most Skoti drift from human to human, chased and hunted by the other Oneroi for the damage they do, tolerated only so long as they do not stay with one human too long.

But Arikos is enamoured by one woman...more

I love how the main character experiences everything for the first time as he's never known emotions and feeling's before having been stripped of them along with his fellow dream gods centuries before as a punishment. I love the banter between him and his estranged brother who he doesn't like and shares an animosity with. I loved the brief glimpse of Hades and Persephone in it and laughed at the how the goddess got her husband to do what she wanted! It shed a new light on the dream hunters as th...more

Sherrilyn didn't do badly with the story concept... Dreams, cool. Greek gods, cool... librarian-like beauty that doesn't know she's beautiful? Way cool...but it went downhill from there. The dialog was simply TERRIBLE. Not just *bad* but distractingly terrible.

I am thoroughly convinced that it would have made Buffy The Vampire Slayer slay Joss Whedon had she been forced to spew these lines from her mouth. But then, Geary is no Buffy... so maybe it was just that this character didn't have enough...more

So this is the first book of the author that I have read and I didn't even know there was a series in the first place and honestly now I don't care enough to read the entire series.
The book was very ok. My pros and cons were:

Cons
1. Too many characters not enough plot to go round.
2. There is no "drama" when the characters are faced with decisions. No matter how important that decision is..
3.The main character Geary, jumps from between being a "Doubting Thomas" to "forever in love" without any p...more

Ah, the dream hunters. A fun bunch, huh? I just couldn't fully enjoy this one from any aspect. I understood that the Dream Hunters were cursed to lack emotions, but it left so much of the book dry and without any sort of...spark. And Arik went from one end of the spectrum to the other like it was nothing. He was unfeeling and then immediately committed. That made the relationship between him and Geary lack for me. I found her interesting in the first few pages of the prologue. This pissed off gi...more

Genre: Paranormal Romance

This was pretty “eh”. The set-up with the dream gods being cursed by Zeus to be emotionless, but harboring the very dangerous secret that the curse is wearing thin is interesting. I liked some of the minor characters (Persephone and Tory) but I didn’t much care for either the hero or the heroine. Plus their romance felt very contrived to me.

Per usual, Kenyon did have some interesting ideas but I didn’t feel like they were carried though. I liked that the dream-god Arik d...more

Arikos is a Dream-Hunter, a Skoti. Once, he was a Oneroi but was tricked by a Skoti and ended up being turned. Now, he’s found Mageara (or Geary) who dreams in vivid color and sensation. Arikos is drawn to her dream, to her. He’s even willing to make a deal with Hades to experience two weeks with Mageara. Problem is what he must do in return.

The concept of the Dream-Hunter’s was introduced in an earlier book in the series, which we find out takes place chronologically after this book. The idea o...more

Generic heroine character. Generic man god. Faustian bargains.

Yeah, that's pretty much the whole plot of this book summed up into one sentence. The first 100 pages were utter crap: adequate sex scenes (she gets extra points for not using the phrases “she could feel his need” or “she touched his arousal” or “he fingered her lips” unlike certain other authors I could mention *cough* Lara Adrian *cough*), badly-written dialogue, “witty” repartees that are basically equivalent to two five-year-olds...more

This is the first of the Dream-Hunter series but it is an installment for the Dark-Hunter one as well because it does serve as a prequel to them. The Dream-Hunter is about Geary who is following her father's work to prove his was not crazy person searching for Atlantis. Arik is a dream god who is fascinated by this woman and makes a deal with Hades to become a human and spend a few weeks with her to sate his curiosity.

I thought the relationship with Arik and Geary was weak so I didn't believe t...more

Originally, my plan was to skip all the Dream Hunter stories because of all the not-so-encouraging reviews about them. A lot said they were decent stories but nowhere near as good as Were-Hunter or Dark Hunter novels. I read this one because I wanted to give the Dream-Hunters a shot before completely forgetting about them.

This book gave me a deeper understanding of what Dream-Hunters are and the part they play in the world of SK. The curse that was cast on them stated that they were no longer s...more

Because of the Pope 1st visit to Lisbon, I was "forced" to take a day off... Down town completly full of people, roads blocked, police every where, even the subway stopped... so I considered a smart move simply not to go to work!

It turned to be one perfect day :) ...me, my couch and a book! All (of course) supervised by my husband ;)

I bought this book and only after I realize that was the number 11 of the "Dark Hunter" series :p
