Wow, I read this short this weekend and was surprised to come here and see it rated so low. I wonder if it was the length or the style? The writing struck me immediately.
As a big fan of Anais Nin and erotic short stories, I love erotica that focuses on the emotional depth of the characters. I also realize that I like the mystery inherent in it. For this reason, Emily Ryan-Davis' work seems to resonate with me because her prose has that lushness and dark mysteriousness woven into it. I've compar...more

This short I really really loved. It was extremely well written and it was historical. My very first love affair with romance came from a historical romance so for me to sink back into a genre I haven't really read in awhile was so refreshing for me. It was a tale of a woman that seemed to be in a romance that was forbidden. She was also a single woman in a time where it would have ruined her name to be sleeping with a man before she was married.
And let me tell you about the sex in this short! I...more

Good, sexy little read. I didn't read the two novels that came before this, All the Trees in Pearl and All the Women in Pearl. I suspect they're about the other two couples mentioned in this. This (the sex at least, since that's all this is) was written well enough that I'd check the others out.
There wasn't much of a plot here... Mick and Emma go down and dirty on the 3rd page and that's it for the rest of the story. He proposes on the last page and they live HEA. The End.
I've read quickies with a similar "plot" that worked for me, basically because the author somehow managed to make me connect with the H/h in a few paragraphs. That didn't happen here, so I couldn't enjoy the story. Bummer!

Well written and very descriptive. I love the word choice. I think that if I decide to try my hand at erotica one day I would have to do some time period historical stuff. Have to spice it up somewhat because I'm beginning to understand that there are just too many people writing things that filled with the common and the day to day, even in erotica.
Oooh La La! Short and sweet, hot and heavy. Make sure you've read at least one of the other "Pearl" books, to fully enjoy this little story
I liked it a lot, although it was very short. But it was free, so no complaints from me!

Interlude in Pearl by Emily Ryan-Davis
A bootie call turned Happily Ever After is my kind of romance. The writing was smooth and the scene was hot. All good things.

2.5 stars. This book was okay, but very very short. I would have liked more story to go with the characters. And maybe some characters as well? Basically all I learned about them is their names and he has dark eyes… really?! Anyway, as it is now, it's just one quickie on the porch. It took maybe three minutes to read the whole book.
Interesting read. I would enjoy a full novel out of this book

Decent enough steamy short story. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the previous books in the series and know the characters a little better. As it was, it was not the best stand-alone.
Mickey and Emma are very compatable sexually and have been for a while. Emma thinks that's all he interested in, but Mickey is looking for somethi8ng more permanent with her. Good read!!
