I have to admit that I was not particularly enamored of this book. It was well written, and though it did have a story, it didn't seem that exciting or interesting in many ways. Maybe there wasn't enough suffering or the suffering, if there was any, wasn't articulated as well as it could have been. Is it autobiographical? Maybe partly, maybe not. I guess also the fact that it is mostly set in the US rather than in Ghana is a little disappointing; nor is it really a novel of the diaspora.
