“I’m hooked on Jaime Rush’s exciting, sexy paranormal series!”

—Janet Evanovich

One of the most exciting new names in paranormal romance is Jaime Rush—who follows her phenomenal Perfect Darkness and Out of the Darkness with Touching Darkness, the latest in her breathtaking Offspring series. Fans of TV’s Heroes and Torchwood—and of the dark and sensuous fiction of Jeaniene Fr

A government conspiracy, psychic abilities, and romance are just some of the exciting elements in this engrossing paranormal tale.

Nicholas Braden has been searching his entire life for a place where he feels he belongs. Ever since he was young he's had the ability to finds things or people by picturing them in his head. As a youth this ability alienated him, but as he's grown older he's learned to use his gift to help others.

By joining a secret CIA organization run by Gerard Darkwell, he belie

Ok so this is book three in the series and I am seriously getting annoyed with this authors lack of creativity when it comes to creating the dynamic between two love interests. Every couple in this series has a strong instant connection and attraction. But in every couple the guy has the SAME EXACT reluctance. 'I am not looking for a relationship', 'I'm not good for you', 'You are better off without me', 'I couldn't stand to hurt you and I know I will hurt you' BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH! And the worst ...more

It is rare that I give a book 1 star. I will caveat that rating by saying that this is book 3 of a series and I might have felt slightly differently had I started with book 1. This is a paranormal romance. The paranormal elements were passed down to this generation of 20-somethings from their parents. But they got they powers through a government experiment that was shut down. Now someone has started it up and is rounding up the Offspring. The someone is frustrated CIA scientist Darkwell. Nicholas Branden has the ability to find lost things and people and because of this he is brought in to work on a government program that can help save lives. At least that is what he was told. Leader of the secret program, Darkwell, is hiding something and it is making Nicholas feel uneasy. Not until he is approached by the Rogues, enemies of Darkwell, does he start to ask questions and investigate further. Which include the circumstances around his father's death.

His inquires land him on the

Not the strongest in the series. I actually found Olivia and Nicholas story to be a little boring. Most of the first few chapters was a just a reproduction of what was written in the previous book, so I found myself skipping a lot of pages. I thought Olivia to be a little annoying and somewhat childish and naive, but then I had to remind myself that she is suppose to be only 20 yrs old. I also found Nicholas's character to be a little weak and not really worth a book. He and Olivia story could h ...more

I liked this story quite a bit in light of the fact that it was more Sci Fi than paranormal like was advertised. Almost all of the characters have psychic powers which the government is recruiting some of them for but the director of the program is also trying to kill some of the characters who aren't cooperating. But because this book is a romance there is also a little bit of that mixed in. And it is forbidden romance! The director's daughter is the one that the male lead is crushing

I can’t remember how I found out about this series, but I did and I utterly enjoyed books one and two at the time. Then last year book three, Touching Darkness, came out and I just couldn’t get myself in the mood to read it. Closing in the turn of the New Year I finally did and I regretted waiting this long to do it.

Touching Darkness was such a great read, much more than what i thought. I was kind of reluctant to read it, since it tells the story of two characters we don’t really k

I really wanted to like this. Really. I bought the first in the series, and gave it 2 stars. I wouldn't have continued on with the series, except that I won an ARC copy of this, so of course I felt compelled to do so.

Olivia was perhaps the stupidest, most annoying character ever. "My father treats me like crap and is doing some secret military thing that might be murdering innocent people, but I'll still stand by him." Ugh. It got annoying. I was so tired of hearing her complain about how her fa

If I was rating this book on the romance side of the story I would have given it only 2 stars. I didn't enjoy Nicholas and Olivia's relationship anywhere near as much as the others. Mainly because I just didn't warm to Olivia. I found her blind loyalty to her father really annoying. For me she was a little snobbish at times, sticking her nose up at her mothers family. I just didn't like her and their reltionship didn't feel right to me
But Nicholas I loved. He was strong and clever. He assessed

Touching Darkness is the third book in Jaime Rush's Offspring series. Nicholas Braden was recruited by the CIA to find a dangerous group of young people called "Offspring". Nicholas has always been good at finding things ever since he was a teen and now he can put those skills to good use, or so he thinks. After a while he discovers that the side he is fighting on may not be the right side. He has to convince Olivia, the director’s daughter that her Father is involved in illegal activities. I was a little disappointed with this book. The previous books were much more interesting, this one seemed a little lacking. Part of that was that I didn't think the main couple was interesting or had that much chemistry.

I liked that we learned more about Dark Matter and the man that runs it. But even with all that we learned, there is much more to know. It is with this last nugget of knowledge that it seems like the series is taking a whole new direction. I am not sure what I think that of thi

This story is about Nicholas Braden and Darkwell's assistant or should I say his daughter and he crush on Nichlas since started to work for her father but everything changes when Petra tells him that he is on the wrong side and to ask Darkwells questions to figure out if Nick wants to work for a bad guy or work with the good guys that just want answers.

Though not my favorite paranormal series, with the Offspring I'm always guaranteed a good, entertaining read. I enjoyed this one more than the last. Though I wondered how Nicholas would turn out as a hero, I was pleasantly surprised. I particularly liked Olivia - though working for the "bad guys", she was led to believe that the work they were doing was for the good of the country. She definitely finds out otherwise! Nicholas and Olivia had great chemistry. Hope the next story is just as good.

This series just hasn't really kept my interest. It goes like this. Another Offspring is found. Darkwell gets mad. Offspring falls in love with someone they shouldn't. Other Offspring get pissed about it. Someone is in danger and gets saved. Bad guys die. All is well and mismatched lovers are happy.

I am completely hooked and moving on to the next book. We leave this book with Darkwell gone...finally! But, now there is the suggestion that they have some form of extraterrestrial entity enhancing their psychic abilities. A tad bid of romance mixed in with the intrigue and mystery.

I truly enjoy this series, the twist on how the characters received their powers.
I do hope as the story progresses we learn about how the original psychics got or developed their powers. I also really want to know more about Cheveyo, the mystery Offspring, he fascinates me.

I really loved this book. I think the only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 was at the time I read it I wanted the next book to be Petra's book and I was not ready for nick's book. Turned out to be a great book!
