Harlequin Historical
Waking injured and without his memory, Hugh follows clues about himself to court. While there, he is commanded to protect princess Sorcha. She is in disgrace with her father but still in need of protection. Sorcha trusts no man after being duped into marriage, ruined, and exiled in disgrace. But still she yearns for Hugh's arm to surround her in safety and desire. As secrets are revealed, will they be torn apart? That question kept me reading and enjoying this tale.

I stopped reading about 30% of the way through the book. Boring! Boring! Boring! So far this is the plot in the first 80 pages or so: This guy named "Hugh" begins the book by finding himself in some poor man's house. He doesn't know who he is or why he's there. He only knows that some one told him that he was headed in a certain direction, so he takes off in that direction and comes upon Sorcha, the exiled princess. She has been kicked out of her father's castle because she, supposedly, married ...more

Recommends it for: lovers of period romance
Shelves: romance
I like the occasional romance, but I get easily turned off whenever Harlequin is on the cover. I decided to give this one a try though since I apparently was in the mood for a period romance and it's hard to find a good fantasy romance sometimes. I read this book in two days. It's not often I read books so fast. The story was entertaining enough and well yes there's the sex in it which wasn't annoying b/c the heroine wasn't the sappy virgin they usually are in romances. I don't know how many rom ...more

I really enjoyed this wonderful medieval by Joanne Rock. Not only was Sorcha a believable, strong woman with a baby and a home of her own, but her strength and independence actually made sense in the Medieval Irish setting. This author does a wonderful job creating an authentic historical background and making it a part of the character's basic personalities. It was fun reading about a princess who has to worry about things like housework and baby care!

I also loved the way the hero was so vulner

I liked this one even though it's got that Harlequin look about it. It's 12th century England and Ireland. Sorcha is a single mother living in a cottage outside the castle with her infant son. This must be some kid because he doesn't cry much! Her marriage to Edward was declared false by her father, the King. The Norman knight, Hugh, awakes after a blow to his head to find out he can't remember who he is and for some reason, he has to go to Ireland. He happens upon Sorcha and eventually becomes ...more

"Dopo il bacio che si erano scambiati, non poteva fare a meno di pensare quanto fosse crudele rinchiudere in convento per il resto dei suoi giorni una donna così affascinante e appassionata."

Aiuto la neve!!! Se non smette finirò tutte le mie scorte compresa quella di romanzi rosa... a proposito grazie a tutti coloro che portano la spesa a domicilio soprattutto in queste circostanze.

This is a really good book. Hugh must get around all of Sorchas' defenses and yet work within them to gain her trust and to protect her to the best of his abilities. In the end, she ends up saving him instead. Its a really good love story that tests its odds to reach the outcome. I can't wait to read more.
