On his very first day at a brand-new job, shy Shima is trapped in the elevator with a hungover mess of a guy…who turns out to be his boss! Togawa’s prickly exterior definitely puts the rookie recruit on-edge, but it doesn’t take long before Shima’s every waking thought is invaded by his overbearing yet totally thoughtful superior. Will Shima put aside a history of disappoi ...more

Edit 4/19/14: THERE WILL BE A MOVIE?!

Decided to do a review of this after my fifth reread. :D

Doushitemo Furetakunai (translation: No touching at all/I don’t want to touch) remains as my favorite comic by Yoneda Kou and is definitely one of my favorite M/M comics of all time. The story centers around Shima Toshiaki, the new employee of the systems section department of some undisclosed company, and his relationship with the section chief Togawa. Shima is an introverted gay man who just got over a

I really really love this manga. I love the art and the story and the characters.

I love how unsure and doubtful Shima is. I love how bold and brave Togawa is. And they just go so well together.

I will often re-read this!

WOW, a really sweet yaoi. The art is also beautiful, very real, no chibis here. And the story... so touching. Shima is a cute, kind of emo uke. He is shy, very introvert, all due his past and a lost love (a man that was a coward, who denied his sexuality, and by doing that, denied his love for Shima and ruined his reputation). Shima's trauma made him reluctant to fall in love again.

Enter boss Togawa, a man-next-door, who is kind, a smoker, and very attracted to Shima. Before they even know, they

Cried a little towards the end. Art wise this isn't my cuppa tea but storyline isn't shabby. A bitter sweet romance filled with doubts and unhappy past.

I was actually bored at the beginning, luckily the pace picks up somewhere in the middle and then the best part was towards the end. At least the courtship was kinda fun to read. Togawa was pushy in his pursuit of Shima. On the other hand Shima who was still recovering from a bad breakup was shying away from Togawa's attention. He is determined t

That was so good!!! I LOVED Deguchi and Onoda!!! Shima and his boss were nice too but damn!! Onoda's story was so good! And his "Whew" on page 42 was hot. Sexy, fine, hot. RAWR! I want some of that. I'm jealous... This story from Onoda's viewpoint, was sweet. Incredibly sweet, bittersweet, tender, loving, and so good. Definitely, I'll reread their story:))) Onoda and Deguchi made me happy and I got that warm soft feeling inside for them because their love was just so genuine and sweet and ect ec ...more

Shima, starting at a new job, begins an affair with his boss; both caught in an unexpected attraction. But Shima is an extremely shy man who is carrying the emotional scars from a previous relationship that ended badly and cost him his job, so he fears his liasion with Togawa is going to have the same consequences.

A sudden transfer for Togawa causes Shima to distance himself in order to avoid the heartbreak and the inevitable breakup he believes is soon to come. When he fully realizes Togawa's

Shima (gay man with angsty past) falls for Togawa (straight man with angsty past). For me, this had the PERFECT ratio of angst to comedy. I just love how Togawa's playfulness breaks through the walls Shima has built around himself. (The scene on the train, when Shima's ex calls is pure LOVE.) I do find the breakup painful, but I think it's worth it for the emotional payoff at the end. Also, I love love LOVE the art; the characters aren't especially muscley or masculine, but they still look like ...more

I can't believe I only read this manga now. I've been seeing it forever but, since I've read dozens of BL mangas, I always thought I've already read it. Ah, what a mistake I made!

Yoneda-sensei is definitely one of my favorite mangakas, if not my number one. Her characters are always emotionally driven and alive, and all of her stories touch the heart in a way that will have you sympathizing with the characters. This is the kind of manga you'd definitely love to read as a book because of it's gr

I'm a fan of Yoneda-sensei's artwork because it's very emotionally charged and characters are recognizable from each other easily. The only downside to the artwork IMO are the backgrounds. A lot of white, grey, and black panels are used and actual items in the background are very spare. The story isn't anything really original but the drama is intense and you really feel for the pair as long as you like heavy drama and the typical uke and seme pairing.

I read so many yaoi manga and I have to say that this one is one of my favorites.
It has a beautiful artwork and such an intense story !
Yoneda Kou made a great work, each time I read it I feel the same way and never bored.
In this book we can see how one of the main characters finally find the happiness he never had, and that with someone unexpected, far from his men type and someone who could have normal life but actually with a hard past too.

Bittersweetness and cuteness in one book, I advise it

Note: This review is for the fan translated version. The official translated version, as someone noted below, is horrid, and why I'm taking a star away from my rating.

Someone recced Yoneda Kou to me ages ago, but at that time I was quite sick of yaoi mangas, since I'd read a string that had predictable plots, questionable consent issues, and seme & uke dynamics that were becoming a major squick. But this -- ohman, I don't even know where to start, so I suppose I'll do so from the beginning.

Premise: A quiet and shy man, Shima starts a new job at a tech office. He keeps to himself and doesn't drink or smoke; his new boss, Togawa is the exact opposite. Togawa is loud, fun, and smokes and drinks to excess. Opposites attract, and a love affair begins. Can they overcome Shima's tortured past? And what about Togawa's desire to have a wife and kids?

Pacing: Perfectly paced. Not too rushed, but not too slow.

Plotline: Romantic. One of the sweetest things I've ever read.

Ah, that was beautiful! Really lovely, and a lot better than some of the other stories I've read with a similar plot - a "straight" guy ends up falling for a gay guy, but in this case - well, I think the difference is that these characters really acted like actual people with emotional baggage might, and the sex is actually 100% consensual (and how sad is it that this is noteworthy?) and never feels gratuitous. I really enjoyed this and definitely need to get my hands on my own copy.

Kalo pemeran pertamanya... geez! Kapan Tuhan ngasih gue cowok kayak gitu? Kenapa selama ini gue dikasih c

ughhh if only the mangaka added 2-3 more chapters about Onoda and Deguchi I'd give this 5 stars :D :D can you tell that I'm more excited about the side pairing? *oops*

Shima and Togawa are actually nice and cute and ANGSTY at times. I'm glad Shima doesn't just follow Togawa to Kyoto because that's gonna be too cheesy. Shima is too reserved sometimes, but I think he really loves Togawa and vice versa. Love it!

Onoda and Deguchi are dumb and awkward and ridiculous. I love dumb pairings XD and that's

This was a lot harder to read than the last two mangas I tried (Death Note and Tokyo Ghoul) - at the beginning I wasn't even sure who was who and which speech bubble belong to which person. The latter didn't really go better, even when there were only the two main characters around.

The plot was more boring than the summary might lead you to believe - too soapy for me. I felt like not much was happening and I couldn't really connect to the characters.

What I found interested, but which also threw

Even though yaoi has lots of very crappy titles, most of them repetitive, cliché, stereotyped and forgettable, this one, as confirmed today, can still make me cry. I love how simple and focused the story is, which is great because even being so short, you get to sympathize with the main characters. This story is deeply touching, realistic and down to earth. The sex is almost non-existent or fade to black, so you have to focus on Shima and Togawa, his stories, burdens and scars, and see how they ...more

And while I was reading the last chapter of Doushitemo Furetakunai it felt like my heart was being crushed into pieces. The feeling when you really want to have something but you’re holding yourself back because you’re thinking that you shouldn’t let your feelings decide everything for you. And you’re thinking that, that something which you really hold dearly would slip away from your hands or worst, you could hurt him or her. The feeling that you would create an indelible scar to the person you ...more

This manga might look a little dirty in the sense that you don't really want to touch it or be a part of it. The style of drawing is very distinct, and personally not in my optimal preference. It feels destructive in a way and that can act as slightly repulsive. But the honesty, the genuinity, its boldness, simply overshadows that. It is so real and alive, and when Shima cried, I cried, because I related so much to him and know exactly how what he feels feel like. It was like a timeless experien ...more

This was actually pretty funny :D I especially loved the second pairing, Onoda and Degushi. So awkward and funny. Oh my god, just Onoda when he wants to have sex with Degushi for the first time!! It was so ridiculous ^^ Would have loved more detail on those two, even though Togawa and Shima were okay too, just not that interesting to me tbh.
