This is the first book in the series by Elaine Viets about Helen Hawthorne who is lying low and taking jobs where she can be paid cash under the table so that her ex husband can't find her. They divorced but the judge said he was entitled to half of her income since he "supported" her....yeah right, typical male judge!
I read this series out of order and while I don't think it hurt anything it would be better to read in order. So this is the first book, enjoy!

I took a break from serious reading and grabbed an armful of mysteries from the library. Elaine Viets was once a columnist for my local paper, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and wrote some clever, amusing crime novels set in St. Louis. She moved to South Florida and now writes clever, amusing crime novels set in Fort Lauderdale.

A B-T friend suggested Elaine Viets as undemanding and entertaining escapism, which is exactly what Viets provides. Nothing special about these, but you do forget everything for awhile. If I take an hour and read Viets, I feel as if I'd taken a nap!

So lightweight it almost floats, but I never even thought about not finishing it. It is a glimpse into a world that I would never experience and I truly hope doesn't actually exist. Talk about wasted lives! (Did you get the pun?)

Fun, mindless "cozy mystery." Great beach or pool read. One of the better ones out there. For this kind of read, it's more like a 4, but I had trouble giving it higher than a three since it's utter fluff.

This is a great cozy series to get into. I was also introduced this cozy series from the same egroup a few years ago for a group read. A bit comedic but features a dead end job per book.
