I might have rated this book lower than I would have had I not read The Tribes of Palos Verdes and expected more. There was quite a bit of fluff before the plot twist of which I can't decide was predictable or hoped for because it was needed to make the book worth finishing. It is only for this point to the end that I gave this book a 3 star rating (otherwise I would have given it a single star). I still look forward to reading another book written by Joy Nicholson but I will again be expecting ...more
This book was dark and of those books that you will think about for the rest of your life. It really shows just how brutal the third world is and how hated we Americans are. I cried for the animals that suffered abuse at the hands of Mexicans throughout the novel. Every American should read this book.
After reading 112 pages, I am giving up on this book. The characters are mysterious but I don't care to figure them out. Maybe if I stuck with this for another 50 pages, things would change, but at this point the book is way too boring and a bit off kilter.
Clearly I chose this book for the name. It wasn't good.
