The illustrations are irresistable, and the resolution of the star is delightful. However, the story heads one way first--with the attempt to cook an elephant into soup!--and veers to the mice playing on the elephant as if he/she is a great buddy. Odd. I wish I could have read it in the original.

When he is having a bad day, this little mouse gets all of his mice friends together to create the only remedy for bad days...elephant soup! This is a quick and cute story with a delightful surprise ending. The story mixed with the illustrations turn this book into a recipe for enjoyment!

This was a different book that hit on the idea that although you may not have everything, together you have it all. It also stressed that everyone has bad days in life and those who are true friends need to be there to pick them up and dust them off. It was an okay book.

This is a quick, cute story with a surprising ending. The illustrations were colorful and expressive. This books could be used to show teamwork, friendship, and using new materials to make something wonderful.

A strange, but fun little story. Our girls enjoyed the colorful and expressive illustraions. It's a short story that is fairly simple, but somehow in the translation, it feels like something was lost.

This was an okay book. It teaches you that everybody has a bad day. When you have a bad day, your close friends are always there to pick you up and make you feel better!

Best of their books so far. The author has weird endings to most of their books which leave me confused. I guess if mice and elephants made soup, the outcome wouldn't be good.

Am I the only one who is alarmed that the mice tried to boil an elephant? I just didn't get it. The illustrations are wonderful, though.
Christina
Nice illustrations and creative, simple story. This would be good for introducing surprise endings and story elements.
Sara
This book did not really appeal to me too much. The plot was a little different.

How a mouse cheers himself up, elephant soup. Could be used for retelling and sequencing.

Demonstrates teamwork and friendship in putting together the soup. Good book for introduction to cooking. Also shows that although everyone has a bad day here and there, with the help of our friends we will make it through to the next day.
