Not my favorite, but still ok. I thought it drug a little bit. I was, however, happy to finally see one of the boys go after their woman in HER world just to prove that he wanted her.

**After reading the most recent DePiaget novel, I had to go back and read the three sister's (Pippa, Tess and Peaches) stories in order and one right after the other. Because.......they all happen within weeks of each other - in the stories - but were written/published years apart. Slight little comments or facts n...more

One Enchanted Evening
(De Piaget Book #6)
by Lynn Kurland

Genre: Historical Romance | Time-Travel | Fairy Tale | Fantasy

Montgomery de Piaget attracts responsibilities like blossoms lure bees. Where other knights have bonny brides, laughing children, and noble quests, he has the task of rebuilding the most dilapidated castle in all of England. A bit of magic might aid him—if only he still believed in that sort of thing.
When Pippa Alexander is invited to England to provide costumes for an upscale pa...more

Series (Published): De Piaget, 9

Series (Chronologically): De Piaget, (after Stardust of Yesterday)

Technically, this is ninth in the De Piaget time-traveling, paranormal romance series. Personally, I think it should be the eleventh, or, at least, after Stardust of Yesterday which is all about Kendrick's adventures and how his romantic life completes itself. After all, if Kendrick is going to showing up at contemporary Artane, with 13-year-old triplets...

I’m in shock. There hasn’t been a Lynn Kurland book to date that I haven’t totally loved. Until now. I just like this one. It’s still a good book, wonderful characters, great time traveling, and a good storyline. But this time there was a little silliness included and that just didn’t work for me, especially because it took away from the beautiful writing that Ms. Kurland is known for in her books.

Pippa Alexander’s passion is fashion design. She’s just shy of getting her huge break in the busine...more

Montgomery finally has a story! I have to admit I am a HUGE Lynn Kurland fan (I have every one of her books) and I have been counting down the days until One Enchanted Evening was available.

I fell in love with Montgomery when he was a teenager in When I Fall In Love and he was firmly convinced that Jennifer was from Faery. Well, Montgomery has finally put all of that behind him, working hard to live up to the reputation of his father and older brothers (and it is alot to live up to).

So I did love this book, even though all throughout I got the feeling I was reading in a long line of books, and as it turns out, I was right... at the end of the book was a lineage of books covering various family members spanning two families... In fact, it appears I have jumped right on the end of the ride... I will likely back track and start from the beginning, should I be able to find out where to start...

As for Pippa and Montgomery, they where completely lovable, I adored them... both sw...more

Lynn Kurland is one of the very top names in time travel romance, and her work is always a treat to read.

What I liked the most: Solid plot, Lynn Kurland's beautiful writing style, likeable and intelligent characters, and the feel of the obvious love that grows between the hero and heroine. This is a sweet read, so I can share it with my mother and know it won't embarrass her to read it. Revisiting characters from previous books in the series. I especially like the way time travel is handled in t...more

Lynn Kurland writes solid, likable heroes and heroines -- Persephone and Montgomery were no exception. Pippa is a grounded, down-on-her luck theater costumer with dreams of entering the world of haute couture. She could have made it to England without ghostly interference, so I'm confused as to why Kurland had to involve an apparition from a previous book.

After Pippa seeks to give her career a bump in England at her sister, Tess', medieval shindig, she and her other sister, Cinderella, stumble...more

It took me a while to get into this book .... much as I love Lynn Kurland and will buy every book she writes, her last two or three time travel stories have left me a little less satisfied than usual. Her storylines started to seem similar, and while I enjoyed reading each book, I didn't feel the urge to go back and read them again .... a big difference in my attitude to previous Kurland titles.

"One Enchanted Evening" took me back to the best of her books, however, and it's because of Pippa, the...more

One Enchanted Evening is a time travelling romance for what Lynn Kurland is most well known for and in true style this book does not disappoint.

Our hero is Montgomery De Piaget a Knight who seems to have a lot of responsibilities except the ones he wants the most - such as a wife, children and a home. Instead he has been charged with the daunting task of having to rebuild the fallen castle of Artane to its former glory.
Enter our Modern Washington heroine Pippa Alexander. She...more

great Lynn Kurland..gets wordy sometimes, every time I thought this book was ready for the circular file, something piqued my interest and I kept reading. This book is not on the same scale as A Garden in the Rain, or Much Ado in the Moonlight, but it has it's moments. There are some places in the book that make the reader go 'huh?' How many people can pick up the Norman French Language and speak it like a native in a few days? I think scholars would love to have such an easy time with it.Pippa i...more

I can't decide whether to give this book 4 or 5 stars.. it was different from any other romance novel I've read- but thoroughly enjoyable. Good mix of humor and romance, It was my first novel by this author, so I was not familiar with the family story or any of the other books. It did get a little confusing, but luckily there is a lineage map in the back that helped me sort through. It was nice to be able to live through Pippa, a modern girl, who gets thrusts back into medival england. It was so...more

The interplay between the two sisters is priceless. The crystals falling off and being collected is a running gag...and for once, I really REALLY liked the hero from this era. The guy recognizes that the heroine is left of center, and falls for her while admitting it. He's less than perfect, but actually tries hard at the relationship.

This would have been so easy for the author to set her wheels in the "the hero is from long ago so he must act like a caveman" rut that so many other authors fall...more

This was an okay time travel romance, part of a series that I'm not sure I'll persue. Pippa (short for Persephone) comes from a really flaky family, the one sister Cinderella being a real nut job. Our 1241 hero Montgomery di Piaget (why do all these hero names remind me of Jude Deveraux's Montgomery family?) is suitably all round good guy with lots of brothers and sisters (the better to have a series with, my dear).
Anyway, it was fun but not earth-shaking. And it certainly beat reading anything...more

The de Piaget series should be read in order as you will get a little confused to the characters and time frame of events happening. I've followed and fell in love with Lynn's books since they first came out to the bookshelves years ago. Both the McLeod and de Piaget series are really fun reads. One Enchanted Evening is just that, it's enchanting. The story brings Tess's sister Pipa into the de Piaget family after she meets Montgomery. Their chemistry goes well together and you can tell that the...more

LOVED this installment in the stories of the De Piagets! Montgomery has always been one of my favorites of the brothers, so I was so glad to finally get to his book. He was such a sweet, innocent, romantic as a teenager - always believing in faeries and being endlessly curious about his mysterious brother-in-law and sisters-in-law; never sure if they had come from the Future or if they were actually faeries, just knowing they were paranormal oddities and that he adored them. I always hoped he's...more

In One Enchanted Evening, we get to see the baby of the de Piaget clan fall in love. If you have been reading along, you must know by now that Montgomery de Piaget is a bit dreamy eyed. He is the adorable baby brother that first befriends Jake Kilchurn and Jennifer McKinnon. He is the one that believes in fairies and is pretty convinced that his brother-in-law and sister-in-law really ARE fairies that his brother and sister saved from ... well from wherever fairies live. Then, one day, while wal...more

This was the 2nd book I read in my collection of 4 books by Lynn Kurland. I didn't exactly go by publishing dates because it appeared the other 2 I had dealt with a different family then the di Piaget family that I had read about in "When I fall in Love" so I stayed loyal to the di Piaget family and read One Enchanted Evening that has Nicholas's younger brother, Montgomery, as the main handsome, sexy knight in the story.

Now that I am on Good Reads and see how the series is set up, I realize tha...more

Having waited for years for Montgomery de Piaget's story, I can say it was well worth the wait. Having read all of Lynn Kurland's wonderful books, she has once again taken me to a place few authors have. For a trip to the delightful, amazing time-traveling world of the medieval de Piaget family, re-acquainting myself with so many great characters from her previous books in the series, is a trip I always look forward to taking. Ms. Kurland never fails to "enchant" me with her humor, quick and cle...more

i discovered after reading that this was the most recent in the de piaget series, though fortunately it stood on its own. a very lovely tale of romance and fantasy and happily ever after. kurland once again creates wonderfully well developed and interesting characters. the time travel bit is a little confusing, though i imagine it becomes clearer as each of the stories in the series are read and more of the different interwoven characters' stories are learned. looking forward to another.

This was a good book, but a few parts just bothered me too much. In the first half of the book Cindi is a major antagonist, but her character was too flat and lifeless. She was just there to move the plot along, and was quickly written out of the rest of the book. Also, the whole time travel thing - I like the premise, but it was accepted by the characters too casually. I could sense there's a whole lot of back story about the family in the author's other books. I did appreciate that it was a cl...more

This book had a great underlying storyline and the male romantic lead was sweet, charming, and very male in all the right ways, but all the other aspects of this book just left me rolling my eyes and sighing in frustration a lot. The romantic relationship between the two character leads was actually boring in my opinion because it just kept going back and forth and back and forth due to unnecessary conflicts because of a simple lack of communication. This book would have been better if the autho...more

It took me a while to get into this book. But ...once her horrible sister, Cindi gets out of the picture things improve. I love how Montgomery watches over Pippa but doesn't smother her while doing it.

Once Montgomery goes to the future ...the scene where he is wanting to learn to drive a car is wonderful! Kurland captures what a guy would want to conquer who just came from medieval times.

The banter is always good in Lynn's books. I especially like the banter between brothers and the other men r...more

I would give all of Lynn Kurlands books five stars, but it bothers me that the heros in the books are mostly all philanderers, bofore meeting or marrying heroines. I liked this book better than most because it doesn't descuss that, and Montgomery is better than the other men in that area I think. I didn't give it five because of the wicked sister, and the heroine's woosiness most of the book. But, I really did like this book, and have read it a few times now.

I live this book just like I love all of Lynn Kurland's books, however I do have to agree with another reviewer about the bit of silliness in the book. Montgomery goes from "man of the castle" to beyond acting silly in the second half of the book. His character doesn't seem to flow throughout the whole book. But other than that small factor, it's still one of my favorite books and it's by my all time favorite author.

I could not get beyond the first chapter. It just dragged and took forever to introduce characters and backstory. I don't want to "read more and it gets better". If I don't care about the characters by the middle of the first chapter, I close it. So this book gets a DNF.

By the way, I had not read any of the other books in this series. I have read Kurland before, but could not tell you which books.

This story seemed a bit choppy for me. I also really liked Montgomery in the other books and his love for mischief, so it was harder to relate to him as a grown man who was a bit stodgy and 100% knight and lord of his castle. I hope we find out about John next since allusions were made to his just disappearing. Still a fun story, just not my favorite of Kurland's.

I love lynn kurlands books! I've had one for forever and it was my first "romance novel" and only recently am I getting back into her books. These are awesome! They're a lot like johana lindseys "malory" series. In that in one way or another your dealing with a family. Or families. Its a lot of fun when you get to see old fav characters make a guest appearance in a new fav book! So now I'm starting to collect on the lynn kurland series. I like how its more sweet versus sexy. Couldn't put this book down. This is the first book that I have read by Lynn Kurland and I will read more. It was a little confusing for me to get the characters down. I was thinking this was the start of a series but its not. I would recommend this book but to read the series up to it. It had humor, romance and mystery what more do you want?

Lynn began her writing career at the tender age of five with a series of illustrated novellas entitled Clinton’s Troubles in which the compelling hero found himself in all sorts of . . . well, trouble. She was living in Hawaii at the time and the scope for her imagination (poisoned fish, tropical cliffs, large spiders) was great and poor Clinton bore the brunt of it. After returning to the mainlan...more
