In third grade or maybe it was second, I don't remember, but I had the same teacher for both grades so it's irrelevant to the story; so anyway in whatever grade, second or third, my teacher started to read from Superfudge to the class every Friday afternoon. The class got enthralled in the book, and getting a hold of the book from the school library was a pretty impressive feat since everyone in the class wanted the one copy. I can still remember exactly where on the shelf it would have...more

Peter and Fudge are back, this time with a baby sister, Tootsie, and a move to Princeton, New Jersey. Peter is just as annoyed by Fudge as ever, but he also has to deal with leaving his best friend, Jimmy Fargo. Plus, Fudge is going to the same school as Peter...can things get any worse?

Judy Blume excels once again with this book. She has such a gift of getting the voice of children. I loved this book when I was a kid, and I loved rereading it as an adult. Although I had to laugh when I read...more

The follow-up to Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, this one takes Peter Hatcher, his irrepressible brother Fudge, and their new baby sister Tootsie, and transplants the family to Princeton, where Peter's dad is trying out a year of book writing. Peter once again has to deal with the trials and tribulations of big brotherhood, while enduring having his little brother in the same school and having to make new friends. It's insightful, funny, and honest.

One that was read to me. The parts that stood out the most to me: they lived in a big city. Even though my first elementary school was in the inner city, I could not imagine what it must have been like to live somewhere that didn't have a front and back yard. The other thing was that he had a younger sibling. I had been the baby for years and did not know what that was like. Little did I know that a couple of years later that would all be changed.

I think this is the first book I ever read in one sitting. I actually remember telling my mom I was sick so I wouldn't have to go to Ridgecrest Elementary School, and I read the whole blimey thing. I honestly don't remember much about the book other than it was funny and I sluffed school to read it(wasn't there something about a baby with stamps all over it's face?), but that alone is worth 4 stars and a place on my Goodreads shelf.

I just read a plot summary to make sure I liked this when I read it a decade ago. Indeed, I did.

Superfudge is a splendid read for all ages. Judy Blume captures the endearing nature of youthful shenanigans, while illuminating the everyday angst of childhood. It's cool people get paid to write bullshit like that.

I had a love love relationship with Judy Blume. She was with me while I grew as a reader from my days with Fudge and all his silliness when I first got into easy-to-read chapter books to the days of all the classic girl novels like "Are You There God, It's Me Margaret" to even some of her adult work. I absolutely adored Fudge and the entire series, and I'd whole-heartedly reccommend them to any early reader.

Judy Blume has a pitch-perfect ear for writing about children and adolescents in a real way. Mrs. Elliott read this book to our class in third grade. There was a run on the book in the library for months.

This is the story of Peter Hatcher, whose life is upended when his parents decide to try living in Princeton, NJ and have a baby whom Peter fears will turn out to be as annoying as his brother Fudge.

I wrote a fan letter to Judy Blume when I was in elementary school as part of a class assignment. I treasured the form letter I got in reply. It had a picture of her, and she wasn't wearing shoes. As a little kid, I remember thinking it was really strange to have your picture taken without shoes on. But I loved, loved, loved her and felt uber special to have a letter with a photocopy of her signature!

I remember this being one of the first books I read by myself. I'm sure I was too young to fully understand the concepts expressed, (I probably wasn't more than four or five!) but it made me laugh. I can't remember if this one or "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing" had the infamous scene, "Eat it or wear it!" but whenever I think of this book that's the first thing that pops into my head.

If you like intrigue, the hardy boys ("I have a raging clue") and "hanging out" with your pals online, you'll love this classic. Albeit a short read, there is no shortage of tricks, shenanigans, and ultimately deliverance, as our best pal superfudge delves into the mighty mystery of being too young to get boners and too old to play "super-magic-makeup-cowboy." Awesome.

My Godchild just called me and was telling me about how she still has all of the Judy Blume books I bought her and that she began re-reading them for fun. (She is in 6th grade now and reading Harry Potter length stuff). I bought her all of Judy Blume's books because I throughly enjoyed all of them.

Warning Spoiler:
This book is very funny. I read it in fifth grade with my teacher. We read it with such enthusiasm that we all laughed out. It talks about this little boy called fudge that annoys his brother so much, the brother even planned to go live with his frien.(he didn't actually do it)

I remember this being my favorite of the Peter and Fudge books - possibly due to their ages in the story. When I first decided I wanted to be a writer myself, I remembering telling my relatives that I wanted to be able to write about life's everyday details the way Blume did in this book.

This series was always delightful. It really brings out the love/hate relationship of most siblings. At the same time, it was very interesting to me because it talked about the lives of kids in a big city like New York, which was quite different from the small Texas town I was raised.

This was the first book that I ever read. I really like this book. Yup, it's for kids but it's great. Her style of writing is easy to understand and you don't have to think. It's kinda funny and makes you laugh plenty times.

This is great for beginners. You know, for kids!

I just read this to Noah and Lilah over the summer! It was just as smart and fun as it was when I read it as a child. We immediately followed it with Double Fudge, which was also witty and delightful. Judy Blume rocks my face off!!!!
