I really don’t know how to start. This book left me with a multitude of mixed thoughts and frustration without truly knowing why.
The writing style was good and fast paced and that kept me reading until the end. Rowe has created these tough guys that have had these feminine characteristics drilled into them. For the first bit of the book you might be confused as these warriors are preparing to battle their way out of captivity yet still think about things like cross stitching. What I like about Stephanie Rowe's books, is that she injects magic and humor in some of the most serious subjects. Even though it took me a little bit to get into the story at first, the characters gradually grew on me. In this first book in her new Soulfire series, 4 men, who have been trapped and tortured for centuries at the hands of the evil witch Angelica, finally find a way to escape, only to have one of them (Christian) betrayed by the woman he falls in love with.
