While I appreciate the basics of this book the lead villain just pissed me off. I mean really, who in their right mind (yes, I get that she's not in her right mind) thinks that torturing men and then making them do girly things thus disempowering them would make ANY man worthy of love BUT wait she doesn't want love to exist at all. I was so annoyed and distracted by her stupidity that I couldn't count her as an actual villain or even stand to read her character. Everything else in the book was f...more
Blaine Underhill III and his three comrades, Christian, Jarvis and Nigel had all been kidnapped or sold by their parents to the evil black witch, Angelica. Try to envision if Pam Anderson and Hannibal Lecter had a daughter who had spliced in DNA of a psychotic Martha Stewart. That would be Angelica. After hundreds of years of humiliation and torture in the Den of Womanly Pursuits, they finally escape, only to have Christian dragged back by his traitorous girlfriend and protégé of Angelica, Mari....more

2.5 stars. I got this book in a RT giveaway, and I truly wanted to love it, as I love paying forward free books with rave reviews. Sadly, I just couldn't love this one. If you, however, love Erin McCarthy, Vicki Lewis Thompson, Katie McCallister, or Mary Janice Davidson, this could well be a 4 or 5 star read for you, and it is certainly a series worth adding to your TBR pile if light and funny paranormal is your favorite genre. Stephanie Rowe has created another crazy and wild paranormal romance. Readers who enjoy Katie MacAlister and Kerrelyn Sparks will find her this book entertaining. Even the villains are funny and sympathetic if somewhat corny.

Wow! what a roller-coaster!
The last thing I expected was to like this book so much.
The blurb do justice to summarize the story of this with holding major twists that made this book so good.
Why is it so good?
That's because of many points:
- The intriguing start. It starts with a warrior looking for a black-widow only she got to use him as much as he uses her. What more a PNR romance fan would ask for.
- The story development. which is soooooo exciting I didn't want to stop reading til I knew what w...more

The hint that this is not going to be the book I usually come across was right there in the first sentence I read: "he knew tonight wasn't the night he was going to get his newest cross-stitching tapestry finished..."
No, you did not understand it wrong. Alexander Blaine Underhill III, our main hero, likes to cross-stitch.
Why? There has to be some rational expalantion?
Well, of course there is. :p

I am so excited about this book and this author. This is the first book I've read by Stephanie Rowe and I am gonna read every single one of her books until I'm done. This was mostly PNR and of all the PNR I have read this has got to be one of the more original themes.

Devilishly divine. Kiss At Your Own Risk is brilliantly fun, fast-paced and delightful.
Stephanie Rowe is to paranormal what Janet Evanovich is to mystery; laugh-out-loud fun and a non-stop tilt-a-whirl ride of excitement. I cannot express how much enjoyment Kiss At Your Own Risk brought to me. I literally found myself laughing out loud in the nice quiet library, while I read. Yes, for me, it was that humorous. I really don’t know how to start. This book left me with a multitude of mixed thoughts and frustration without truly knowing why.
The writing style was good and fast paced and that kept me reading until the end. I also found some humor in the dialogues and I really appreciate witty humor in a story but here it seemed it was just the one that doesn’t make you laugh, it’s instead the “just-smiling” humor and sometimes it didn’t feel natural.

When a drop dead sexy man is sitting on a motorcycle telling you to submit to him and the bike, don’t think just get the hell on.
Rowe has created these tough guys that have had these feminine characteristics drilled into them. For the first bit of the book you might be confused as these warriors are preparing to battle their way out of captivity yet still think about things like cross stitching. Once the big bad of the book is introduced it will all make sense.

Interesting plot. While I admit it was quite odd at first and I wasn’t so sure how far I’d get into the book, I’m glad I kept reading. I giggled, I sighed, I scrunched my nose up in disgust, I felt like encouraging the character to stand strong, and I cheered while reading Kiss At Your Own Risk. It was fun visioning hot “bad ass warriors” fight internally between being “manly” and too girly. The warriors all had learned feminine skills such as knitting and painting and found comfort in these ski...more

Starting the book, I was confused and it took a while to get what was going on, who had what powers, etc. Once I got comfortable it was great, a couple of boring spots that I would have loved to skip but too many. What made me like Kiss at Your Own Risk was how cute the story was: there was funny, unique situations and lots of teasing and jokes made throughout the story that has you laughing (or at least gives you a big smile). The characters were great. Blaine and Trinity really did make a perf...more

Stephanie Rowe has been on my Authors-to-check out list for years, so when Sourcebooks offered this one for free, I snagged it up.
And I am glad I did. This book starts with action, and it doesn’t slow down. But the reason I loved this book was the characters. The characters were a mix of good sides, and bad sides. Their goals were grounded in their pasts. In a way, all the goals made sense, even though their methods might be frowned upon. Both Blaine and Tracy were a bit homicidal, but they fit...more

KISS AT YOUR OWN RISK is the first book in a new series. I really enjoyed Stephenie Rowe's previous books and was excited to read this one. I wasn't disappointed at all. KISS AT YOUR OWN RISK is funny, sexy, and different. There is a lot going on in this book and I almost gave up in the beginning. It took me a while to get into the story, but once I did I couldn't put it down. KISS AT YOUR OWN RISK is different, because it isn't your usual shifters and vamps.
